Revision as of 18:15, 7 December 2024

The first color page drawn by Gosho for chapter 001.

The Detective Conan manga was first serialized in the fifth issue of Shōnen Sunday in 1994, written and drawn by Gosho Aoyama, and has been an ongoing feature since.

(The content below may also be viewed as Manga Listed By Volume, which tracks their organization and release dates per the tankōbon collections.)

Detective Conan Case List

Note: The release dates below reflect the actual in-store date of the Shonen Sunday issue containing each chapter in question, not the ISSN dates on the issues' front covers. The latter, like most comic-book cover dates, are deliberately staggered weeks or even months behind the actual releases. For instance, the aforementioned Sunday issue that premiered File 001 bears the ISSN date January 19th, 1994 on its cover, but actually went on sale on January 5.

Conventionally, each issue's actual release date is calculated as two weeks ahead of the cover date, with more unconventional timings around holidays and other major events. For most of Sunday's publication history, the exact dates could only be determined though the magazines' next-issue preview pages, though they have become more widely accessible after Sunday entered digital circulation.

Detective Picture Book

The Detective Picture Book, fully titled Gosho Aoyama's Detective Picture Book is a special feature in each volume of the Detective Conan manga. Each volume features information on a famous literary or film detective as well as a story recommended by Aoyama.

Detective Conan Special

Detective Conan Special manga volumes consist of short stories drawn by Gosho Aoyama's assistants. The stories found in the Special volumes hold no bearing on the plot of the main storyline.

Detective Conan Spinoff

AKB48 Satsujin Jiken Crossover/Spinoff Manga, story by Yasushi Akimoto and Gosho Aoyama, drawn by Masaki Gotou. AKB48 Murder Case is a detective manga series adapted from the all-female Japanese idol group’s “Murder Mystery” commercials for Glico’s “Ice no Mi” candy campaign. In the story, AKB48 members discover the body of fellow idol Kato Rena. Maeda Atsuko arrives at the murder scene and begins to handle the case. All 89 current members of the idol group become suspects.

Hanzawa the Criminal Detective Conan Spinoff Manga, drawn by Mayuko Kanba, staring the black-silhouetted "criminal" which appears in Detective Conan chapters to represent the culprits. The storys found in Hanzawa the Criminal hold no bearing on the main storyline.

Zero's Tea Time Detective Conan Spinoff Manga featuring the daily life of the 3 face man Amuro Tooru is drawn by Arai Takahiro. The stories found in the Zero's Tea Time volumes hold no bearing on the plot of the main storyline, but can be related to it.

Wild Police Story Detective Conan Spinoff Manga, drawn by Takahiro Arai, staring Tooru Amuro, Wataru Date and three of their comrades, when they attended the MPA (Metropolitan Police Academy).

Magic Kaito

Magic Kaito is a shōnen manga series by Gosho Aoyama, about a thief named Kaitou Kid. Its publication started on June 10, 1987, with some chapters published in Weekly Shōnen Sunday and other chapters published in Weekly Shōnen Sunday Special Edition. After the first two volumes were released in 1988, the manga was put on hiatus as Aoyama started his new manga Yaiba (1988-1993), which was followed by Detective Conan (1994-present). Since then, more chapters have been published at irregular intervals during pauses of these works, and have been collected into a third, forth and fifth volume in 1994, 2007 and 2017 respectively.

Yaiba

Y∀IBA, also known as Kenyuu Densetsu Yaiba, is the second manga series created by Gosho Aoyama. The story was about a young samurai and his adventures in modern day Japan. There have been numerous references to it in Detective Conan.
