Mina Katsumata (勝又水菜 Katsumata Mina) is a character in the manga franchise Detective Conan.
Mina Katsumata is a Shogi player from Tokyo who lives in an apartment although just like the five other members of her Shogi practice group, she pays a part in the rent of an apartment for practice. She is the daughter of the actual tenant of the Osho title Chikara Katsumata. She knows Shukichi well since he is her father's rival and is known to be quite good at Shogi. She is a suspect in a murder case that targeted members of her practice group and at the end of the case, she is cleared of suspicion. She used to go out with Kinji Uryu, Shoko's brother, another Shogi player who committed suicide because of the pressure he had from his Shogi group.
Katsumata is quite short and has an asymmetric haircut and short black hair.
Katsumata is a gentle and nice person and cannot withstand being in a crime scene. Although she wasn't best friends with the first victim, Yasukiyo Genda, she still cried a lot.
While Yumi Miyamoto was tailing her boyfriend, Conan followed her and both met Shukichi Haneda who was talking with Katsumata and Shoko Uryu. They reveal themselves to be part of a Shogi practice group and as they come to the shared apartment of the five players (Shukichi, Katsumata, Uryu, Kosuke Hishinuma, and Yasukiyo Genda), they discover Genda's lifeless body. The suspects are Katsumata, Uryu and Hishinuma. After the police comes, a second murder occurs as another member of the practice group, Yusuke Kishimoto, who had taken a leave, is found dead in his house. Katsumata returns to her house frightened about the death of her two rivals. The serial killer is revealed to be Hishinuma.
