Continuity is a concept in fiction used for directly referring to previous stories, establishing for them to be "in the past" of the current story containing the reference to it and thus strengthening the continuity between both or even creating one in the first place by connecting both plots. This is not the same as the Canon, even though establishing continuity helps define elements of the series that are part of the Canon. This can be done by means of a direct Continuity Nod or a Call-back.

The Manga, Anime, Movies, Games and other spin-off material aren't set in the same continuity despite sharing and adapting some of the same stories and influencing each other now and then in certain details. This is emphasized by the separation below.

Volume 1

Prologue (Manga: 1)

• Black Organization case.
• Shinichi Kudo, Ran Mouri, Juzo Megure, Gin and Vodka debut and become recurring characters. Kogoro Mouri gets mentioned. Sherlock Holmes also gets mentioned for the first time as an in-universe fictional character.
• Tropical Land (a crossover setting from Magic Kaito) and the City of Tokyo as a whole get introduced and become recurring settings.

Company President's Daughter Case (Manga: 2-5)

• This case is a direct continuation of File 1 and set during the same evening.
• Kogoro Mouri and Professor Hiroshi Agasa debut and become recurring characters. Shinichi's parents, Yusaku and Yukiko Kudo, and Ran's mother, Eri Kisaki, get indirectly mentioned for the first time. The Yotsui company/family also get mentioned before debuting in a later case.
• The Kudo residence, Hiroshi Agasa's residence, the Mouri Detective Agency and Café Poirot right below it get introduced and become recurring settings.

Bloody Idol Case (Manga: 6-9)

• Yoko Okino debuts and becomes a recurring character. Her manager Eiichi Yamagishi debuts, but only becomes a recurring character in spin-off media like the Anime and Zero's Tea Time.
• Kohnan High School gets mentioned for the first time.
• The Voice-Changing Bowtie gets introducted and becomes the first recurring gadget.
• To Prologue - Roller Coaster Murder Case (Manga: File 1): Conan Edogawa mentions his shrinking and the "men in black" and says that it's been "three days" since then. Ran Mouri also mentions the events in front of Professor Hiroshi Agasa, being in concern about Shinichi Kudo's well-being since the date at Tropical Land.

Volume 2

Mysterious Shadow Case (Manga: 10-12)

• Toya debuts and becomes a recurring character. Yaiba Kurogane, the protagonist of Gosho Aoyama's previous series Yaiba also debuts as a fictional character on a TV and becomes a recurring character as this and a real person later on.
• Teitan Elementary School and Narita Airport get introduced and become recurring settings.
• The Power-Enhancing Kick Shoes get introduced and become a recurring gadget.

¥1,000,000,000 Robbery (Manga: 13-16)

• Black Organization case.
• Akemi Miyano debuts and becomes a posthumous recurring character in flashbacks and further mentions after her death at the end of this case.
• Shiho Miyano gets mentioned.
• The Shinjuku Ward gets introduced and becomes a recurring setting.
• The Transmitters and Criminal Tracking Glasses get introduced and become recurring gadgets.

Haunted Mansion Case (Manga: 17-19)

• Ayumi Yoshida, Genta Kojima and his mother, as well as Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya and his mother debut and become recurring characters.
• The fourth block of Beika Town gets introduced and becomes a recurring setting.
• The Elasticity Suspenders get introduced and become a recurring gadget.

Volume 3

Hatamoto Family Case (Manga: 20-25)

• Natsue Hatamoto, Takeshi Hatamoto and Jojo Hatamoto debut and become recurring characters.
• The Stun-Gun Wristwatch gets introduced and becomes a recurring gadget.

Monthly Presents Case (Manga: 26-29)

• Beika General Hospital and Beika Park are introduced and become recurring settings.
• To Company President's Daughter Case (Manga: 2-5): When Ran Mouri thinks about all the times Conan Edogawa acted unusual, she remembers the moment from this case when he notified her father about the watchdogs of the Tani family.
• To Bloody Idol Case (Manga: 6-9): When Ran thinks about all the times Conan acted unusual, she also remembers the moment from this case when he found out about the lighter in front of Yuko Ikezawa.
• To Hatamoto Family Case (Manga: 20-25): Ran shows a letter by Natsue Hatamoto they got at the beginning of the case, referring to the Hatamoto family murders "last month", which Kogoro Mouri only barely remembers. The letter mainly tells about how Takeshi's and Natsue's life went on in the meantime. Later on, she thinks about all the times Conan acted unusual, including during that case.

Volume 4

Bullet-Train Bombing (Manga: 33-35)

• Black Organization case.
• Kyoto gets mentioned for the first time and Ran Mouri says that she's never been there before.
• The Microphone in Conan's glasses get introduced and become a recurring gadget.
• To Prologue - Roller Coaster Murder Case (Manga: File 1): On the Shinkansen, Conan Edogawa thinks about the moment Gin and Vodka gave him the poison during the first chapter - shortly before encountering them on the train.

Code Sheet Case (Manga: 36-39)

• Kamen Yaiba gets introduced and becomes a recurring, in-universe fictional character.
• The Minato Ward, including Tokyo Tower, the Beika Police Department and a PAPCO Store get introduced and become recurring settings.
• A television by ONY is shown, which is the first appearance of this fictionalized company in this manga after its introduction/founding in Yaiba. Other appliances made by ONY become a recurring accessoire in future cases.
• To Bullet-Train Bombing (Manga: 33-35): At Tokyo Tower, Ran Mouri refers to the moment Conan Edogawa wanted to admit something to her on the Shinkansen during that case and asks him what it was.

Volume 5

Bandaged Man Case (Manga: 40-44)

• Sonoko Suzuki and her older sister Ayako Suzuki debut and become recurring characters. Masaru Ohta debuts too and gets mentioned in the following case again.

Lex Vocalist Murder Case (Manga: 45-48)

• The music band "Lex" debut and get mentioned in later cases several times.
• The "Karaoke Box" gets introduced and becomes a recurring setting.
• To Bandaged Man Case (Manga: 40-44): Ran Mouri and Sonoko Suzuki are talking about the previous case again, with it being implicitely at least one week ago, since Sonoko's sister Ayako has been bedridden "for a week" after that.

Conan Kidnapping Case (Manga: 49-51)

• Yusaku Kudo and Yukiko Kudo debut and become recurring characters. The Night Baron, an in-universe fictional character created by Yusaku, appears for the first time as his costume and gets repeated name drops in future cases.
• The Beika Hotel gets introduced and becomes a recurring setting.
• To Roller Coaster Murder Case (Manga: 1): Conan Edogawa briefly thinks about the moment Gin and Vodka were poisoning him in File 1 when getting confronted by Fumiyo Edogawa.
• To Company President's Daughter Case (Manga: 2-5): Ran Mouri indirectly refers to File 2 when she asks Conan about his parents, since it's been "a long time" since they went overseas and left him in Japan, according to his backstory he gave back then.
• To Lex Vocalist Murder Case (Manga: 45-48): Conan suspects that the organization may have found out about him because he appeared as Shinichi Kudo to solve this case.

Volume 6

Antique Collector Case (Manga: 52-55)

• The fictionalized town of "Kinza" in Tokyo gets mentioned for the first time and becomes a recurring setting later on.
• The in-universe movie The Santa Claus of Summer is mentioned for the first time and gets several other name drops in later cases.

Twin Brothers Case (Manga: 56-58)

• The Detective Boys form at the start of the chapter.
• Hiroki gets introduced and becomes a recurring character in the spin-off Zero's Tea Time.
• The Detective Boys Badges get introduced and become a recurring gadget.
• To Code Sheet Case (Manga: 36-39): Inspector Juzo Megure regrets trusting the Detective Boys based on them catching those "italian mobsters", referencing this case from Volume 4. The kids themselves mention the case later on, too, suspecting Conan Edogawa of trying to get rid of them, enraging Genta Kojima.

Tenkaichi Festival Case (Manga: 59-61)

• Sango Yokomizo debuts and becomes a recurring character.
• The Saitama Prefecture gets introduced and becomes a recurring setting.

Volume 7

Moonlight Sonata Case (Manga: 62-67)

• Seiji Asoh debuts and gets repeated posthumous mentions in later cases after their death at the end of this story.
• Tsukikage Island debuts and also gets mentions in later cases.

Pro Soccer Player Case (Manga: 68-71)

• Hideo Akagi, Naoki Uemura and Ramus debut and become recurring characters.
• The Tokyo National Stadium gets introduced and becomes a recurring setting. Beika Elementary School gets mentioned for the first time, but only gets another mention in the expanded canon of the Anime as Kota Matsumoto's school in Episode 816.
• To Prologue - Roller Coaster Murder Case (Manga: 1): Conan Edogawa again mentions the moment he got poisoned by the two men in black at the beginning of the case.
• To Bloody Idol Case (Manga: 6-9): Ran Mouri mentions to Ryoko Akagi that Shinichi Kudo currently is gone because he "investigates a complicated case", which he told her at the end of that previous case.
• Shinichi as the narrator also tells in medias res at the end of the case that Ran needed three days to believe he didn't two-time, implying for the following case to be at least three days after this one.

Volume 8

Night Baron Murder Case (Manga: 72-77)

• Satoru Maeda debuts and gets mentioned again in a later case.
• The Night Baron Virus gets mentioned for the first time and becomes a recurring plot element later on.
• To Tenkaichi Festival Case (Manga: 59-61): Conan Edogawa gets dragged from the crime scene by inspector Sango Yokomizo, who then realized that he's the boy that was with Kogoro Mouri back during that case. Yokomizo mentions that he's switched to the Shizuoka police force one month ago, implying for case to have happened at least as long ago, too.

Poisoned Bride Case (Manga: 78-80)

• Shinichi Kudo as the narrator mentions that Miss Matsumoto was released from the hospital two months after the case and married Toshihiko Takasugi "three years later".
• Kiyonaga Matsumoto debuts and becomes a recurring character.

Volume 9

Kidnapped Ayumi Case (Manga: 81-83)

• The Turbo Engine Skateboard gets introduced and becomes a recurring gadget.

Kogoro's Class Reunion (Manga: 84-86)

• Beika University gets mentioned for the first time, as Kogoro Mouri's and his friends' alma mater, and becomes a recurring setting later on.

Wealthy Daughter Murder Case (Manga: 87-91)

• Takuya Mifune debuts and becomes a recurring character.
• To Company President's Daughter Case (Manga: 2-5): The party Conan Edogawa, Ran and Kogoro Mouri get invited to is the rich Yotsui family, whose company was mentioned by Mr. Tani as one of his rivals back during that case.

Volume 10

Diplomat Murder Case (Manga: 92-96)

• Heiji Hattori, Heizo Hattori, Yukiko Katsuragi and Takayoshi Tsujimura debut and become recurring characters.

Library Murder Case (Manga: 97-98)

• This case is a direct continuation of/epilogue to the previous one, the Diplomat Murder Case (Manga: 92-96).
• Kaitou Kid appears for the first time as a fictional character called "Burglar Boy" on the cover of a book Conan Edogawa is holding, but will debut as a real person in a later case.
• Beika Library gets introduced and gets mentioned again in the expanded canon of the Anime during Episode 686.

Medical Professor Murder Case (Manga: 99-101)

• Tohto University gets mentioned for the first time, which becomes a recurring setting later on.

Volume 11

TV Station Murder Case (Manga: 102-104)

• Nichiuri TV and its station gets introducted, which will become recurring elements of the plot.

Coffee Shop Case (Manga: 105-107)

• Eri Kisaki debuts and becomes a recurring character.
• To TV Station Murder Case (Manga: 102-104): Eri Kisaki's longing for her ex-husband gets disrupted when she sees a rerun of his imprudent joke on TV he made at the Nichiuri TV station during the case before.

Mist Tengu Case (Manga: 108-110)

• The Button Speaker gets introduced and becomes a recurring gadget.

Volume 12

Game Convention Case (Manga: 114-116)

• Black Organization case.
• Tequila debuts and becomes a posthumous recurring character through flashbacks and mentions after his death at the beginning of this case.

Volume 13

Gomera Murder Case (Manga: 128-130)

• Tomomi Sakaguchi debuts and becomes a recurring character through movie appearances in later cases. Gomera also debuts as an in-universe fictional character who appears and gets mentioned more often down the line.
• To Magic Kaito, Red Tear (MK Manga: 22): Gomera first appeared in the new film Kaito Kuroba and Aoko Nakamori go to during "Red Tear". Since the movie being produced during this case was supposed to be Gomera's final outing, it would be chronologically set after "Red Tear".

Volume 14

Magician's Suicide Case (Manga: 131-133)

• Kazumi Sanada debuts and becomes a recurring character.

Suspicious Uncle Case (Manga: 134-138)

• This case is a direct continuation of the previous one, the Magician's Suicide Case.
• Misao Yamamura debuts and becomes a recurring character.

Ski Lodge Case (Manga: 139-143)

• Haido Elementary School gets mentioned for the first time and becomes a recurring setting later on.

Volume 15

Two-Mix Kidnapping Case (Manga: 144-146)

• TWO-MIX, a real life music band, debut and become recurring characters.

Bond of Fire Case (Manga: 150-153)

• To Moonlight Sonata Case (Manga: 62-67): Conan Edogawa references this case and Seiji Asoh's suicide in specific in front of Heiji Hattori.

Volume 16

School Mystery Case (Manga: 154-155)

• Sumiko Kobayashi and Ryujiro Uematsu debut and become recurring characters.

Kaitou Kid and the Black Star (Manga: 156-159)

• Kaito Kuroba, Shintaro Chaki, Shiro Suzuki and Tomoko Suzuki debut and become recurring characters. Aoko Nakamori debuts too, but only gets a mention in another case later down the line.
• Ginzo Nakamori debuts in this series and is said to be working at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department under Shintaro Chaki "for a month" by now, which means that the prequel chapters "Black Star" (Magic Kaito, 23-24)) are set at least a month prior to this case, where Nakamori was still working at the Minato Police Department. He becomes a recurring character in Detective Conan afterwards.
• The Shibuya Ward and Beika Art Museum get introduced and become recurring settings.
• Prof. Hiroshi Agasa tells Conan Edogawa that Kaitou Kid disappeared mysteriously around eight years ago and seems to be active again since recently, just like it was explained in Chapter 1 of Magic Kaito, implying for both series to happen somewhat concurrently, with Magic Kaito beginning a bit earlier, as proven by "Black Star".
• To Hatamoto Family Case (Manga: 20-25): Joji Hatamoto reappears and references this past case.

Missing Older Brother Case (Manga: 176-178)

• Ai Haibara, the shrunken form of Shiho Miyano, debuts and becomes a recurring character.
• To Twin Brothers Case (Manga: 56-58): Genta Kojima sarcastically asks Toshiya if his missing brother is a cat, referring to Hiroki and his cat Akira from that case. Genta also asks Conan Edogawa whether he really thinks he can shake them off, referencing two moments when he did this, one of them during this case.
• To Code Sheet Case (Manga: 36-39): When Genta asks Conan whether he really thinks he can shake them off like before, he is referencing two moments from the past when he did this, one of them being this past case.

Murdered Professor Case (Manga: 179-181)

• This case is a direct continuation of the previous one, the Missing Older Brother Case.
• To ¥1,000,000,000 Robbery (Manga: 13-16: Ai Haibara reveals herself to be Akemi Miyano's sister and asks Conan Edogawa why he couldn't save her back then. The victim of this case, Professor Masami Hirota is also the person whose name Akemi adapted as her pseudonym, who was acquainted with him.

Mystery Writer Case (Manga: 182-184)

• Detective Samonji, an in-universe fictional character, appears for the first time.
• Conan Edogawa ponders about the fact that Kogoro and Ran Mouri almost got dragged into the conflict with the Black Organization several times, too, referring to the ¥1,000,000,000 Robbery (Manga: 13-16), Bullet-Train Bombing (Manga: 33-35) and Game Convention (Manga: 114-116) cases.

Stabbed Wallet Case (Manga: 185-188)

• Kazuha Toyama, her father Ginshiro Toyama, Goro Otaki and Ki'ichiro Numabuchi debut and become recurring characters.
• Osaka gets introduced and becomes a recurring setting.
• To Illustrator Murder Case (Manga: 125-127): The "recent case with Kenjin Hanaoka" gets a brief mention.

Stadium Threatening Case (Manga: 189-191)

• Miwako Sato debuts and becomes a recurring character.

• Toichi Kuroba gets mentioned for the first time, when the suspects name their favorite magicians, with him actually being a character from Magic Kaito.
• To Magician's Suicide Case (Manga: 131-133): Motoyasu Tsukumo, Kazumi Sanada and Yashiro Kinoshita get mentioned when the suspects name their favorite magicians.

Sealed Bathroom Case (Manga: 197-199)

• Terumi Hoshino gets mentioned for the first time as one of the pop idols on the posters in the Aoshima's household, who debuts in person during a later case.
• To Bloody Idol Case (Manga: 6-9): Kogoro Mouri explains to Masayo Aoshima that he knows Yoko Okino personally since he helped her back during that case.
• To Lex Vocalist Murder Case (Manga: 45-48): Kogoro Mouri mentions Lex as being on some of the posters, even though they've "disbanded" - which they did because of that exact case.
• To The Santa Claus of Summer: Asuka Anzai is mentioned as an existing pop idol by Kogoro Mouri, who is the deuteragonist of this old one shot by Gosho Aoyama, making at least her canon to the world of the Detective Conan.

Blue Castle Case (Manga: 200-203)

• Introduction of the Wristwatch Flashlight, which becomes a recurring gadget.

Volume 21

Shinichi's First Murder Case (Manga: 204-207)

• To Missing Older Brother Case (Manga: 176-178): Ayumi Yoshida and Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya tell Ran Mouri about Ai Haibara transfering to their school recently.

Treadmill Murder Case (Manga: 208-210)

• First part of the Metropolitan Police Detective Love Story.
• Ninzaburo Shiratori and Yumi Miyamoto debut in the manga and become recurring characters. The former appeared in Movies 1 and 2 before, where he still was a police officer, while he recently got promoted to police inspector according to this case, placing these movies - or off-panel manga equivalents to them - before these chapters chronologically, since he already knows about Kogoro Mouri and Conan Edogawa.
• The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department in the Chiyoda Ward gets introduced and becomes a recurring setting.
• To Blue Castle Case (Manga: 200-203): The Detective Boys go to the MPD to give their witness reports about this case they experienced at the castle.
• To Stadium Bomber Case (Manga: 189-191): The Detective Boys also remember Miwako Sato, mentioning that they've seen her during that case as one of the policemen apprehending one of the culprits.

Wedding Murder Case (Manga: 211-214)

• First appearance of Tokyo Station, which becomes a recurring setting.
• To Stabbed Wallet Case (Manga: 185-188): The protagonists mention that case, guiding Heiji Hattori and Kazuha Toyama through Tokyo in exchange for their tour through Osaka back then.

North Star Murder Case (Manga: 215-218)

• To Hatamoto Family Case (Manga: 20-25): Conan Edogawa, Kogoro and Ran Mouri board the Hokutosei Express to Hokkaido because they got invited by Natsue Hatamoto to visit them, whom they haven't met in person since the case on the ship of the Hatamoto family.
• To Blue Castle Case (Manga: 200-203): Conan didn't know about the bank robbery that's talked about since it happened over the weekend he was on the camping trip with Professor Hiroshi Agasa and the Detective Boys that landed them at the castle.

Sonoko Attempted Murder Case (Manga: 219-221)

• Debut of Makoto Kyogoku, who becomes a recurring character.

Volume 23

Cruise Ship Murder Case (Manga: 225-230)

• First mention of Haneda Airport, which becomes a recurring setting later on.

Innocent Suspect Case (Manga: 231-233)

• Second part of the Metropolitan Police Detective Love Story.
• To Treadmill Murder Case (Manga: 208-210): Wataru Takagi reminisces about the ending of that case, when he mistakenly believed Juzo Megure was Miwako Sato's secret crush.

Volume 24

Blackout Murder Case (Manga: 234-237)

• Debut of Tomoaki Araide and Hikaru Yasutomo, who become recurring characters.

Hotel Party Murder Case (Manga: 238-242)

• Black Organization case.
• Debuts of Vermouth and Naomichi Mugikura, who become recurring characters. Pisco debuts too, but only becomes recurring by mentions and in flashbacks during future stories, getting killed at the end of this case.
• First explicit mention of "Anokata".
• Introduction of the Haido City Hotel, which becomes a recurring setting.
• To Murdered Professor Case (Manga: 179-181): Ai Haibara reminds Conan Edogawa about how he called her a "murderer" back then.

Volume 25

Skating Rink Case (Manga: 243-245)

• Makoto Kyogoku's stay abroad began in the meantime.
• Ran Mouri gets the mobile phone with the strap attached from Shinichi Kudo, which he gave her in return for the sweater she made and sent him at the end of the Blackout Murder Case (Manga: 234-237). This is also a call forward to the flashback during the Aquarium Murder Case (Manga: Files 882-884, where Shinichi promised her a mobile phone with a strap like this.
• To Hotel Party Murder Case (Manga: 238-242): Conan Edogawa thinks about the continuation of the talk with Ai Haibara they had at the end of that case.

Spider Mansion Case (Manga: 246-250)

• The Namako-Otoko mobile phone strap gets mentioned for the first time and Kazuha Toyama correctly guesses that Shinichi Kudo was the one who gave it to Ran Mouri.
• To Skating Rink Case (Manga: 243-245): Conan Edogawa thinks about how he sent Ran Mouri her new mobile phone "back last week".

Dangerous Cave Case (Manga: 251-254)

• This case and the following two cases (School Play Murder Case, Files 255-257, and Elevator Murder Case, Files 258-260) are one continuous storyline, the so-called "Desperate Revival".
• To Company President's Daughter Case (Manga: 2-5): At the end of the case, Conan Edogawa thinks about what Professor Hiroshi Agasa told him in File 2, about not letting anyone know who he truly is while pondering about whether he should tell Ran Mouri.
• To Suspicious Uncle Case (Manga: 134-138): Conan Edogawa reminisces about several special encounters he had with Ran Mouri, one of them being Ran's relieved smile after being convinced by Yukiko Kudo that Conan isn't Shinichi back during File 134. Conan also thinks about what his parents told him at the end of that chapter (File 138).
• To Ski Lodge Case (Manga: 139-143): Conan Edogawa reminisces about several special encounters he had with Ran Mouri, one of them being the moment when she had to reveal her beloved teacher as the culprit during this case with his help.

• To Bus Hijacking Case (Manga: 287-289): Wataru Takagi tells Conan Edogawa that the file containing all cases "solved" by Kogoro Mouri were stolen from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department on the day of the bus hijacking, but returned shortly thereafter without any sender name or address on it.
• To Play It Again: The confrontation between Sanjuro Sakura and Tatsuya Nakadai on the school grounds from the one shot, where Michiko Tsurugi cheers for the latter, can be heard as a in-universe fictional scene from the movie Eiko Idetsuki likes to watch. Volume 1

The Revived Phantom Thief (MK Manga: 1)

• Indirect Magic Kaito Organization chapter.
• Kaito Kuroba, his mother Chikage Kuroba, Aoko Nakamori, her father Ginzo Nakamori, Konosuke Jii and Erika Konno debut and become recurring characters. The identity of Kaitou Kid gets introduced, first by Jii, then taken over by Kaito. It's also established that his father Toichi Kuroba was the first Kaitou Kid, who seemingly died during a stage accident 8 years ago.
• An old man appears in the flashback about Toichi who probably is a still unnamed James Hopper, predating his second, named appearance in a flashback during Red Tear (MK Manga, 22).
• The (real) Ekoda Area with the fictional Ekoda High School and the Minato Ward, including the (equally fictional) Minato Police Department, get introduced and become recurring settings.
• The Card Gun gets introduced and becomes a recurring gadget.

• Akako Koizumi, joining the school on Valentine's Day, and her servant debut and become recurring characters.
• Momoko Aoyama, the protagonist of 100% Tantei Monogatari, also debuts in her only appearance in Magic Kaito so far, confirmedly attending the same class as the protagonists. Since they're in the second year in both series, it would set this chapter concurrently to chapter 3 of 100% Tantei Monogatari, which also happens on Valentine's Day.
• Akako Koizumi's residence gets introduced and becomes a recurring setting.

Volume 2

Japan's Most Irresponsible Prime Minister (MK Manga: 8)

• Ikebukuro Station gets introduced, confirming the Toshima Ward as the place Kaito Kuroba and Aoko Nakamori live in somewhere when they leave the train there to go home. This gets reinforced in the following chapter, where it's confirmed that Aoko's house is explicitly located in Toshima.

I Am the Master (MK Manga: 9)

• The spherical RZ-04 mini robots debut in their so far only appearance in Magic Kaito, but they later on reappear as cameos in Yaiba and Detective Conan.

Would You Grow Up (MK Manga: 10)

• Lucufer debuts and becomes a recurring character.
• Tokyo Tower gets introduced and becomes a recurring setting.
• The Hang Glider Cape gets introduced, becoming a recurring gadget.

The Boy Who Bet on the Ball (MK Manga: 11)

• The real persons Kazushige Nagashima and Shigeo Nagashima debut, who later on get referenced in 3rd Base 4th again, with the the protagonist of that series sharing his name with the latter.

Hustler vs. Magician (MK Manga: 13)

• The actual second chapter, according to Gosho Aoyama, so very probably set inbetween chapter 1, The Revived Phantom Thief, and chapter 2, The Police Are Everywhere.
• The Blue Parrot Pool Bar gets introduced and becomes a recurring setting. The local train station is also mentioned for the first time and gets mentioned again in a later chapter, but hasn't appeared on-panel so far.
• To The Revived Phantom Thief (MK Manga: 1): Aoko Nakamori puts on a fish patterned underwear to scare Kaito Kuroba after provoking him to look under her skirt again like he did in the first chapter, where she also learned about his fear of fish.

Volume 3

Star War (MK Manga: 14)

• According to Ginzo Nakamori, Kaitou Kid has been inactive for "three months".
• A television by ONY is shown in the Minato Police Department, which is the first appearance of this fictionalized company in this manga after its introduction/founding in Yaiba. Other appliances made by ONY become a recurring accessoire in future chapters.

The Great Detective Appears!! (MK Manga: 15)

• Saguru Hakuba debuts and becomes a recurring character. His father, Superintendent General Hakuba, also debuts, but only becomes a recurring character in the extended universe canon, including Movie 4 of Detective Conan.
• A painting by "Pekaso", a fictionalized version of Pablo Picasso, appears, which Kaitou Kid wants to steal. Another painting by him later on appears in the Museum Owner Murder Case (Detective Conan Manga: 30-32).
• To Stay Away From Him (MK Manga: 7): Aoko Nakamori's teasing of Kaito Kuroba's inability to ice skate, telling him about the time he teased her about not being able to ski, is a reference to the plot of that chapter from Magic Kaito Volume 2.

Kaitou Under Scrutiny (MK Manga: 16)

• Ana Shioji and her cameraman debut, who are recurring characters from Yaiba.
• The fictional band "Prince X Prince" also gets mentioned for the first time and gets further name drops in the extended canon.

Yaiba vs. Kaito! (MK Manga: 18)

• This crossover was originally a one shot named "K∀ITO" and is explicitly non-canon according to Gosho Aoyama.
• Shonosuke, Yaiba Kurogane's pet vulture, debuts from the perspective of Magic Kaito and later reappears as a stage animal in Red Tear (MK Manga, 22) during Kaitou Kid's stint as Paul.

Blue Birthday (MK Manga: 19)

• Magic Kaito Organization story.
• It's Aoko Nakamori's birthday, with her becoming 17.
• Kaitou Kid learns the truth about his father's "stage accident" and changes his modus operandi to specifically looking for Pandora, the legend of which is explained during this chapter.
• Snake and his superior debut. The former becomes a recurring character, the latter only gets another appearance in the extended canon of the Magic Kaito TV Specials so far. Keiko's friend also debuts and reappears with her in the last chapter of Yaiba.
• Anokata, the boss of the organization (not to be confused with the one of Detective Conan), gets mentioned for the first time.

Green Dream (MK Manga: 20)

• Magic Kaito Organization story.
• The fictional magazine "non-an", a parody of the real magazine non-no, is seen for the first time, read by Aoko Nakamori. It becomes a recurring accessoire and later on also appears in Detective Conan, read by Ai Haibara most of the time.

Volume 4

Crystal Mother (MK Manga: 21)

• Magic Kaito Organization story.
• Queen Selizabeth (or Sallybeth, depending on the translation) debuts. Her name later reappears in Kaitou Kid and the Black Star (Detective Conan Manga, 156-159) as the name for the cruise liner, the "Queen Selizabeth/Sallybeth".

Red Tear (MK Manga: 22)

• Magic Kaito Organization story.

Black Star (MK Manga: 22-23)

• Shinichi Kudo, protagonist of Detective Conan, and Juzo Megure, a recurring character from the same series, debut in Magic Kaito. Detective Konno also debuts and becomes a recurring character, who also retroactively gets more appearances in past Magic Kaito stories in the extended canon.
• The frame story happens briefly before Kaitou Kid flies over to the roof of Haido City Hotel, where he meets Conan Edogawa for the very first time, which sets it concurrently to File 156 - Chance Meeting of Detective Conan.
• The flashback story has to be set at least one month before the frame story and before Detective Conan as a whole, since Ginzo Nakamori is still working at Minato Police Department, while working at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department under Shintaro Chaki "for at least one month" in Kaitou Kid and the Black Star (Detective Conan Manga, 156-159) and stays there in future chapters. It also has to be sometime between the Aquarium Murder Case (Detective Conan Manga, Files 882-884) and Prologue - Roller Coaster Murder Case (Detective Conan Manga, File 1), since Tropical Land wasn't opened yet in the former, while Kaito Kuroba and Aoko Nakamori already visited it in the meantime, and Shinichi isn't shrunken yet, which happens to him in the latter.
• Ginzo also explains in the flashback story that Saguru Hakuba suddenly went abroad to England.

Golden Eye (MK Manga: 27-28)

• Saguru Hakuba is back from England, having arrived shortly before his appearance in the Sunset Mansion Case, currently being abroad again in France. This implies that at least Files 160-302 of Detective Conan have happened inbetween the framework of Black Star and this story.
• Paris gets introduced on-panel and becomes a recurring setting.

Dark Knight (MK Manga: 27-28)

• Shintaro Chaki debuts as Ginzo Nakamori's superior, which he already appeared as before in Kaitou Kid and the Black Star (Detective Conan Manga, 156-159). Baaya also debuts after being mentioned in the Sunset Mansion Case (Detective Conan Manga, 299-302) first.
• This story also happens during a night on Friday the 13th, which could mean that it's happening concurrently to the night of Friday the 13th in the Foreign Suspect Case (Detective Conan Manga, 605-609), which would also fit the previous chronological info and the following story and the fact that all of these chapters were released relatively close together in real time. It would also imply that at least Files 303-604 of Detective Conan have happened in the meantime between Golden Eye and this story.
• The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department gets introduced and becomes a recurring setting.
• To Would You Grow Up (MK Manga: 10): Inspector Ginzo Nakamori chained the glass case in mid-air so Kaitou Kid is unable to hide in the display case, with Kaito Kuroba remembering that he did this several times before - like in that chapter from Magic Kaito Volume 2, for instance.

Volume 5

The Phantom Lady (MK Manga: 29-30)

• Chikage Kuroba's second identity of Phantom Lady debuts in a flashback, after being mentioned in Ryoma's Gunbelt Case (Detective Conan Manga: Files 731-733) first, which is a sequel to this story.
• To Kaitou Kid's Busy Day Off (MK Manga: 4): President Gozu says that it's the "fifth time" Kaitou Kid disguised as Aoko Nakamori. One instance of this was seen in that chapter from the first volume.
• To Ryoma's Gunbelt Case (Manga: 731-733): This story ends with a direct tie-in to the beginning of this case of Detective Conan, making it a prologue of it. This also implies that Detective Conan has happened from at least File 610-730 in the meantime between Dark Knight and this story.

Midnight Crow (MK Manga: 31-33)

• Magic Kaito Organization story.
• Kaitou Corbeau, who could be Toichi Kuroba, debuts, in his only appearance so far.
• The National Museum of Nature and Science (or a fictional one modeled after it) gets introduced and reappears in the following story.

Sun Halo (MK Manga: 34-36)

• To Magic Kaito 1412, Blue Birthday: Kaito Kuroba is mentioning Konosuke Jii's "professor friend" first mentioned in that episode. This allusion is returned in File 997 of Detective Conan, where Agasa mentions that he lent his VW Beetle to his "barkeeper friend".

TV Specials Continuity

The Revived Phantom Thief (MK Special: 1)

• Indirect Magic Kaito Organization Special.

Kaitou Kid's Busy Date (MK Special: 2)

• Keiko Momoi debuts and becomes a recurring character during these TV Specials. Conan Edogawa, Ai Haibara, Ayumi Yoshida, Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya and Genta Kojima debut and become recurring guests in the TV Specials, too. These cameos, especially Ai's inclusion, would imply for this episode to at least be set sometime after Detective Conan's The Girl from the Black Organization and the University Professor Murder Case (Manga: 176-181, Anime: 129) in this continuity, if taken at face value.
• To The Revived Phantom Thief (MK Special 1): Kaito Kuroba confronts Konosuke Jii in the living room of the Kuroba residence about their meeting on the top of the Tokyo City Museum and the revelations about his father which happened close to the end of the first TV Special.

A Witch Sheds No Tears (MK Special: 4)

• This TV Special is a combination of two distinct chapters from the original continuity, Chapter 6 and 10.
• Akako Koizumi, joining the school on Valentine's Day, her servant and the Kami Lucufer debut and become recurring characters during these TV Specials. Momoko Aoyama, the protagonist of 100% Tantei Monogatari, gets mentioned, but in contrary to the manga, isn't seen, or heard of again.
• Akako Koizumi's residence gets introduced and becomes a recurring setting in the TV Specials.
• A whole month passes during this TV Special, which doesn't happen in the manga chapter, setting it on March 14th (White Day) later on.

The Fated Blue Birthday (MK Special: 5)

• Magic Kaito Organization Special.
• It's Aoko Nakamori's birthday, with her becoming 17.
• Snake, Snake's superior and their boss, "Anokata" (not to be confused with the one of Detective Conan), as well as Keiko's friend, debut and become recurring characters during these TV Specials. In contrary to the manga continuity, Anokata and his location can partly be seen. The organization member Spider, who also only exists in this continuity so far, is teased on a magazine cover.

Love on the Ski Slope on Christmas Eve (MK Special: 6)

• This TV Special sets the story explicitly on Christmas in this continuity, which doesn't seem to be the case in the manga version. This would also set it more than 7 months after the fourth special.
• Conan Edogawa cameos in his clothes from Detective Conan Movie 15, which is set in a very similar location. and was released in the same year (2011).

The Splendid Rivals (MK Special: 7)

• Magic Kaito Organization Special.
• This TV Special is a combination of two distinct, but consecutive chapters from the original continuity, Chapter 15 and 16, which also actually doesn't feature the organization. There's also a completely new scene about Kaitou Kid's and Saguru Hakuba's confrontation with Spider on the roof of the Ekoda Museum.
• Saguru Hakuba and Spider debut and become recurring characters during these TV Specials. The latter only exists in this continuity so far. Hakuba's father, Superintendent General Hakuba, also debuts, but only is a recurring character in the extended canon as a whole.

The Secret of the Red Tear (MK Special: 8)

• Magic Kaito Organization Special.
• To The Splendid Rivals (MK Special: 7): Saguru Hakuba reads a newspaper article about Gunter von Goldberg II's show he held at the Minato Arena in the previous TV Special.

The Witch, the Detective, and the Phantom Thief (MK Special: 9)

• Magic Kaito Organization Special.
• There's a completely new scene with a Spider confrontation again at the end not found in the manga continuity and implications about his involvement in the main plot, knowing about Kaitou Kid's relation to Toichi Kuroba and Akako Koizumi's identity as a real witch. This also involves the organization in the plot, when they weren't actually featured in the original.

The Reminiscent Golden Eye (MK Special: 10)

• Saguru Hakuba's stay in Paris is revealed to be because he's still investigating Spider in this continuity, visiting his show in France.

The Tearful Crystal Mother (MK Special: 11)

• Magic Kaito Organization Special.
• Spider is added in this continuity again, this time disguised as Prince Phillip of Ingram's nanny Alice, who didn't exist in the manga original.

Tears of Love for the Dark Knight (MK Special: 12)

• The TV Special happens on Friday the 13th, which could imply, similar to the manga original, that it's set concurrently to the night at the end of Clash of Red and Black (Manga: 605-609, Anime: 605-609) in Detective Conan.

Magic Kaito 1412 Continuity

Stay Away From Him (MK1412: Episode 13+)

• The second ending, Koi no Jumyō, which started with this episode, contains some sepia-tinted recaps of past events in Kaito's life he experienced up to this point (i.e., the first half of the series), including moments from the Detective Conan movies featuring Kaitou Kid, implying for them to have already happened in the meantime in the continuity of Magic Kaito 1412:
  • To The Revived Phantom Thief (MK1412, Episode 1): Kid's duel with Konosuke Jii on the roof of the Ono Bank.
  • To Blue Birthday (MK1412, Episode 2): Kid standing on top of the tree, confronting the organization's members.

• Chapter 3 seems to begin the morning right after Yaiba Kurogane's arrival in Japan in Chapter 1-2.
• To You'll Be Taking Care of Me (Yaiba Manga: 2): Yaiba Kurogane tries to lure Mr. Sudo into a trap by turning his back to him, just like he did with Muto during the second chapter, which Sayaka Mine also notices.

Are You Coming? (Yaiba Manga: 255)

• This chapter serves as an epilogue, set three years after The Strongest Samurai Under Heaven (Yaiba Manga: 254) and the rest of the series by extension.
• First and only mention of Kaito Kuroba and Aoko Nakamori as students from parallel classes, who are said to be officially a couple now, chronologically setting this chapter after every known Magic Kaito chapter so far, while still happening in the same school year (Keiko Momoi and her friend are of the same age as in that series).
• First and only appearance of Ekoda High School as Sayaka Mine's current school, which already was a recurring setting in Magic Kaito.
• To Detective Conan, Kendo Tournament Murder Case (Manga: 990-993): Takeshi Onimaru just won his third national title in this chapter, making it a retroactive flash forward to that case of Detective Conan, where it's said that he currently owns two national titles, chronologically setting that case less then a year before this chapter, since he's the same age.
