In Vietnam, Detective Conan is known as Thám tử lừng danh Conan, which means Renowned Detective Conan. It's often called as simply Conan.

Manga

Detective Conan manga was first published in Vietnam in 2000 by Kim Đồng Publishing House and has been reissued many times. The first time it was published in 100% Japanese style (with right to left reading order) was in 2009, and is currently ongoing. Detective Conan was the most popular and best selling manga sold by Kim Đồng Publishing House and also in the whole country. Kim Đồng Publishing House also published Detective Conan Special manga, Detective Conan Novels and Magic Kaito manga. They have already released up to Volume 44 for the Special manga, Volume 9 for the Novels and Volume 4 for Magic Kaito manga. Additional published volumes can be found in the See Also section. As of August 2025, Kim Dong Publishing House has released volume 106.

Additionally, Kim Dong Publishing House is also in charge of special collectibles from the series such as the Ani-manga, Super Digest Book, FBI Collection, Kaito Kid Collections, Romance Collections, Secret Files and more planned to be published in the future as gifts for fans.

Anime

The anime was first broadcast in dubbed form on HTV3 on December 26, 2009, airing on Saturday and Sunday every week at 5:00 p.m. and rebroadcast every summer on the same channel. They only dubbed to episode 100 (112 in Japanese version); several episodes were skipped for unknown reasons. The series stopped here for several years until HTV3 announced that they will continue to broadcast the anime from where they left at episode 101 (113 in Japanese version) at 6:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday every week beginning from January 6, 2017. They paused at episode 199 (202 in Japanese version) on May 24, 2017 and has continued on starting from June 26, 2017.

In 2019, HTV3 bought the rights to new episodes and stopped broadcasting at episode 460 (440 Japanese). Later, these episodes were purchased by POPS Worldwide and replayed on digital platforms and continued to air the next episodes. POPS Worldwide announced that it has purchased the copyright of a new episode on the POPS application, POPS Anime Channel on YouTube and broadcast at 10 am on February 1, 2022, and stopped at episode 602 (569 Japanese).

On June 10, 2023, the new season was launched on the POPS application and its YouTube channel, starting from episode 621 to 770 (570 to 718 Japanese). Some voice actors have been changed.

On September 6, 2024, the new season was launched on the POPS application and its YouTube channel, starting from episode 771 to 920 (719 to 865), there was some notable change in episode screening schedule, as it was changed from every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday (September 6, 2024) to every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (starting from November 18, 2024) to eventually, everyday (starting from December, 2024, up until March 13, 2025).

On July 18, 2025, after suddenly stopped airing episode compilations from Three First Discoverers, POPS continued airing the next compilations every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and revealed that there will be some upcoming spices for their audience meal time.

On August 28th, 2025, POPS announced that the new season of dubbed Detective Conan will air nationwide at 11 a.m local time every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday starting from September 17th, 2025. The airing of new episodes will end on April 10, 2026. Starting from April 4, they have aired every two-parter or four-parter into one individual compilation episode each, starting from The Traitor’s Stage.

Movies and TV Specials

From November 20, 2016, HTV3 has started broadcasting the first 19 movies of Detective Conan at 11:00 a.m. and 7:55 p.m. every Sunday.

CJ CGV announced that they will broadcast the 6th TV special of Detective Conan - Episode One: The Great Detective Turned Small - on April 21, 2017.

In order to promote the 25th movie The Bride of Halloween, the POPS application broadcasted Movie 22 Zero the Enforcer on June 10, as well as the Detective Conan spin-off Wild Police Story anime adaptation from June 24 and the TV special Love Story at Police Headquarters ~Wedding Eve~ on July 8.

In order to promote the 26th movie Black Iron Submarine, the compilation movie The Story of Ai Haibara ~Black Iron Mystery Train~ was launched on POPS application on April 17, 2023 and 3 movies relating to the Black Organisation (Countdown to Heaven, The Raven Chaser and The Darkest Nightmare) in July 2023.

In order to promote the 27th movie The Million-dollar Pentagram, the compilation movie Detective Conan vs. Kid the Phantom Thief was launched on POPS youtube channel on July 7, 2024 and 6 movies relating to Kaito Kid (The Last Wizard of the Century, Magician of the Silver Sky, The Private Eyes' Requiem, The Lost Ship in the Sky, Sunflowers of Inferno and The Fist of Blue Sapphire) in July and August 2024.

In order to promote the 28th movie One-eyed Flashback, 3 movies: The Fourteenth Target, Strategy Above the Depths, and The Private Eyes' Requiem were aired in 18th, 19th, and 20th of July, respectively.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Detective Conan’s anime franchise, the first movie in the series, The Time-Bombed Skyscraper, was re-dubbed by the current cast of the franchise in Vietnam and released in theaters nationwide on January 23th, 2026.

  • Like most of international releases, Thám tử lừng danh Conan uses international episode numbering. Meaning that one-hour and two-hours specials are separated into parts. All episodes used to be on HTV3 (Season 1-3), and they're now available on POPS App and POPS Anime YouTube Channel.
  • Due to censorship, the episodes 602-620 were not broadcast on HTV3 and POPS before in seasons 1-3.

Music

Openings and Endings

HTV3 used the instrumental version of Mune ga Dokidoki as the opening, and the instrumental version of STEP BY STEP, as the ending of the anime. Both of these songs were used for the first 112 episodes. From episode 113 upwards, the opening and ending themes are reverted back to their Japanese versions, with exception of Girigiri chop. Some EDs are not shown.

In some episodes, the openings 14 to 18 are subtitled with the song lyrics translated in Vietnamese. From 18 to upwards, the lyrics subtitles are reverted to Japanese.
