Situation

One morning, while having breakfast at the Café Poirot along with Kogoro and Ran, Conan notices a strange, glum-looking customer sitting at a table, eating ham sandwiches instead of the regular breakfast selection and without having consulted the menu, which indicates him as a regular client. What makes the guest so peculiar is that he has his eyes constantly fixed on Tooru Amuro while he is working.

The baker's motive.

The mysterious man is revealed by Conan to be a baker. He has been stalking Rei in order to find out how to replicate the ham sandwiches Rei prepares for the Poirot customers, after he had once had breakfast at the café after hearing about how the sandwiches' quality had drastically improved lately, and found them extremely delicious. However, despite all efforts, he has not been able to replicate their unique flavor on his own. Upon learning the motive, and much to the surprise of the Detective Boys, Rei happily teaches the man his unique method of making sandwiches.

After the baker comes by the café once more for a sandwich breakfast and to ask Amuro whether he may actually sell those sandwiches to his customers (something Amuro readily agrees to), Amuro suddenly gets a call from Vermouth, who warns him not to take his current "secret investigation" too deeply, lest it arouses Gin's undue attention.

Trivia

• This is the first TV original episode to feature Bourbon and Vermouth, and the second after Home of Beika's Grenier to feature Gin on background.
• In this episode, while discussing about the mysterious customer real identity, Conan and Rei also freely converse being possible member of, about the members of the Black Organization, as well as about Public Security Bureau, which is the first such occurence since The Scarlet Return.
• The baker and his shop reappear in The Melting Cake!. The shop reappear in Intrigue at the Food Court, but not the baker, and a neightboor is Shimomura Cigarettes shop's, not appeared before.
