Tome (トメ ,Tome?) is a character in the anime and movie franchise Detective Conan.
Background
Tome and the Tokyo police.
Tome is a senior member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police CSI. He is often seen investigating alongside a young female assistant and other forensics officers at the crime scene during cases where Megure is the chief inspector, who has close trust in them. He is a senior crime scene investigator, which is the highest achievable rank in forensic police. He is notorious for his always precise details and will be asked more questions than other forensics officers by the police. He is one of the few veterans of the forensics police and knows a lot of old tricks to take clues, like one that he taught to Takagi.[1]
Personality
Very serious and passionate with his work, he is nonetheless a kind and friendly person. Like many other policemen, he listens to what Conan has to say, although the boy sometimes says something like: "Mouri wants you to check up on this", or "Mouri asks if this was found". This is to ask him about forensic evidence he has collected, and Tome is often happy to answer. A good investigator appreciated by all, he can do his job well, so much to boast with Conan to not omit anything. His favorite is Rampo Edogawa's The Boys Detective Club series.[2] He likes Double Soda and Milk Bar.[3]
Appearance
He is a seemingly older man, wears glasses and has black eyes and dark hair that are always covered by a blue cap. He usually wears a blue forensic uniform in his work and always wears essential gloves for his investigations.
Plot overview
He appears multiple times in both the TV series and the movies. He is used as the main forensics officer in many cases and gives clues to the main characters and the other law enforcers. However, he stopped appearing after his main voice actor underwent surgery and later died.

Different looks
Manga vs. anime
In the manga, an unnamed forensic officer with his character design often appears from the beginning, then he isn't an anime-original character. Although he didn't appear in the original, he was officially recognized by the author, and later appeared in the novel version.
Trivia
- According to the animation staff, the female forensics member that works with him is his daughter.[5]
- Accoding to Detective Conan Character Visual Book, the forensic officer that appeared in The Golf Driving Range Murder Case (Episode 51) is his prototype.
