Amanda Hughes (アマンダ・ヒューズ Amanda Hyūzu) is a character in the manga and anime franchise Detective Conan.
Background
Amanda Hughes was killed by Rum with one APTX 4869 seventeen years ago, when she was 81-year-old. She had contacts with two American intelligence agencies, the FBI and CIA. She was so powerful in the United States that the Black Organization tried to threaten her. She was a contender to be the next president of the US. She had a close bodyguard named Rachel Asaka, who was as important as a daughter for her. She was also a big fan of Kohji Haneda, who met that fateful night, and a friend of Tsutomu Akai.
About sixty-seven years ago, when he was only a child, she met Rum at Renya Karasuma's birthday party. Fifty years later, instead of become part of their family, she sacrificed herself to save her adoptive daughter and swallowed his drug developed by the organization, which led to her death.
