Genta Kojima (小嶋 元太 Kojima Genta), also known as George Kaminski in the Funimation dub, is a character in the manga and anime franchise Detective Conan.

Background
Genta Kojima was a student in Teitan Elementary when Shinichi was enlisted into his class after he had been shrunk by the drug APTX 4869. Shortly afterwards, he and his classmate Ayumi had the idea of investigating an apparently haunted mansion. They persuaded Conan to come along, and Genta also personally drafted Mitsuhiko when the latter expressed his criticism about supernatural hauntings.
As it turned out, the haunting served as a cover-up for an old homicide case. Following its resolution, the foursome decided to stay together and form the nucleus of what would become the Detective Boys. Genta was quick to pronounce himself the leader of the group, but his lackadaisical leadership abilities are commonly neglected in the field, and in fact everyone (even Genta) unanimously views Conan as the group's actual leader. His school shoe locker is used as a mailbox for any of their fellow students who can present them with a case.
Personality
Genta is the overweight, self-proclaimed leader of the Detective Boys. He loves food, especially braised eel on rice, and can eat more than all the other Detective Boys members combined. He also tends to mess up certain Japanese terms with similar-sounding words (especially if the latter are related to food) and is quite inept in reading even the most common Kanji, which on occasion evicts some ridicule from his classmates and friends. His brash personality, ignorance of his surroundings, and tendency of not thinking before leaping often lands the Detective Boys (or at least himself) in sticky situations.
Even though he is brash, ignorant and outspoken and can be intimidating, Genta is actually very kind and dependable. He is a good friend of Ayumi and Mitsuhiko, and has been shown to admire his father, who owns a liquor store.

eBookJapan held a character popularity poll from April 12, 2011 to May 12, 2011 in which readers of Detective Conan (international included) could vote for their favorite character. Genta placed 23rd in the poll with 19 votes out of the 5,883 that were cast.[5]

Genta's name (小嶋 元太) comes from mystery writer Hajime Komine (小峰 元 Komine Hajime).
