An unknown male starts flirting with Ran on the bus telling her he also has business at Haido Hotel, Conan/Shinichi look on in jealousy and thinks to himself saying he better be telling the truth.
Conan feels that he has met Masumi before.
Conan feels that Masumi made an erroneous deduction on purpose so that Conan would have to call as Shinichi to solve the case.
In the last scene, Masumi is revealed to be female, as well as a new transfer student in Ran's class.
