Rum orders his subordinates to eliminate Rumi, but Rumi uses Kobayashi as a bait and defeats Korn and Chianti. Later, while spying on Rumi at Teitan Elementary School, Rum wonders why she has not stopped working there even after her identity was found out. A flashback reveals the truth behind the case from 17 years ago. It is revealed that Kohji Haneda was killed by Rum while trying to save Asaka. Kuroda who was off-duty in New York tried to chase an escaping Asaka but to no avail, and their meeting then seems to be what is fueling her hatred towards him.

Rumi corners Rum, but he stages an accident and escapes amid the chaos. Masumi tries to retrieve the photo that had captured her and her shurunken mother from the journalist but fails, resulting in the image being published in the media. Rum shows up delivering sushi, where he accidentally meets Camel. Rum plans to kidnap Camel and question him, but instead, he gets cornered by Rumi. He also tries to assassinate Camel and Jodie but is stopped by the FBI. After seeing a photo of shrunken Mary, Rum realises that APTX could 'stop time eternally' for some individuals while making it 'flow in reverse' for some others, depending on a condition that is yet to be identified. It is revealed that Sera and shrunken Mary were captured in a journalist's camera when they were forced to evacuate their hotel due to a false fire alarm during the incidents of Serial Hotel Bombing Case.
