Shin Samurai-den Yaiba (真･侍伝 YAIBA ,True Samurai Legend Yaiba) is an anime based off the original manga by Gosho Aoyama, who also supervises its script. Produced by WIT Studio in celebration of Detective Conan's 30th year of manga serialization, it premiered on April 5, 2025, and airs every Saturday at 5:30 pm JST, right before Detective Conan. This was also the timeslot for Magic Kaito 1412.

On October 19, 2024, Viz Media announced that they had gotten the license for the anime under the name Yaiba: Samurai Legend, stylized as YAIBA: Samurai Legend. The anime is simulcasted by Netflix in North America, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and select regions of Asia; by Hulu in US; by ADN in France and Germany; by Bilibili in South Asia and Southeast Asia; and by iQIYI in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Macau.

The English dub is produced by Bang Zoom! Entertainment. Dub for episodes 1-12 was released on August 15, 2025.

On September 27, 2025, a Season 2 was announced, covering the Kaguya arc.

A minor flashback showing how Yaiba and Kagetora met is added.

Yaiba has come up with a plan and is willing to do nearly anything to provoke Onimaru to a duel. First appearance of Ayame Onimaru, Grandpa Onimaru, Fuujin (God of Wind). Yaiba is apparently more mischievous than he looks. Takeshi, the target of Yaiba's pranks and losing to him in their first real battle, is infuriated at Yaiba. Upon gaining the Sword of Fujin, Takeshi literally lives up to his name, becoming an "oni", or demon.

Onimaru now wants to fight Yaiba, but something's off, not least the horns sprouting from his head. First appearance of Musashi Miyamoto and Raijin (God of Thunder) Yaiba improves his ability to sense an opponent's strike, and after losing to Takeshi's Sword of Fujin, finds resolve in wielding the Raijin Sword to defeat Takeshi.

Yaiba has the Raijinken but it's the Thunder God that turns the tables on him. Then there's Onimaru. First appearance of Gerozaemon Geroda, Hebi-Otoko, the Eight Demons and the Oni Minions Takeshi takes over the National Diet Building and becomes the ruler of Japan. Yaiba discovers his new "Senpuuken" technique. Gerozaemon joins Yaiba's side in the fight against Onimaru.

Yaiba and others head to Ganryu Island to learn about an arcane maken but end up at a shady hot spring. First appearance of Kumo-Otoko, Namekuji-Otoko, Hitode-Otoko, Kamakiri-Otoko, Namako-Otoko and Komori-Otoko Musashi shows his pervy side and taste for alcohol. Gerozaemon and the rest are able to convince Hitode-Otoko, Kamakiri-Otoko, and Namako-Otoko to quit supporting Onimaru.

Yaiba and crew are back on track but stop in Nagoya where there's more in store than great food. First appearance of Ana Shioji Yaiba realizes that he still needs to train more after nearly defeated by Bat Guy.

Yaiba makes it to Ganryu Island, but the idyllic scenery hides something sinister, something undead! First appearance of Kojiro Sasaki Yaiba and Namako-Otoko are warped back to the year 1612 and explore the events preceding Musashi's fateful battle against Kojiro.

Yaiba's pulled into a time portal with only one way out! If only he could keep his big mouth shut. First appearance of Professor Kanabo Yaiba successfully uses the Sword of Raijin for the first time and defeats Kojiro with it. Kojiro, in his quest to become the greatest swordsman, switches his focus from defeating his long-time rival Musashi to defeating Yaiba instead, which would allow him to get his hands on the sword of Raijin. A continuation from the previous episode, Yaiba and Namako-Otoko continue their adventure with Musashi in the events leading up to his battle with Kojiro.

Yaiba's training's working. He can handle the Raijinken, but it's exhausting. Bring on the training! Yaiba comes up with a new technique: "Kaminari-giri" and soon manages to master it. Kojiro veers off-track with his personal quest in gaining the sword of Raijin from Yaiba as he now joins forces with Yaiba against Onimaru.

Yaiba's slicing his way to Onimaru Castle, a place he learns that deceives the senses and the mind. Kojiro attempts to betray Yaiba's group, but after an unexpected turn of events, he decides his position to not go for the sword of Raijin. Kumo-Otoko finally gets his chance to show off his combat skills.

While Yaiba rides high, Onimaru tempts the young hero. And in pure Yaiba fashion, eyebrows rise. Yaiba and Onimaru fight each other. At the end, Sword of Fujin is broken and Raijin Orb fall into Onimaru's possession. Onimaru then escapes with his flying castle.

A showdown's heating up between Yaiba and Onimaru, but the neighborhood rumor mill is even hotter First appearance of Nadeshiko Yamato. Yaiba learns about the Dragon God Orb and decides that his next goal will be to find it. 6 years ago, Yaiba accepted Nadeshiko's promise that he would let Nadeshiko to be close to him if she became stronger. However, Yaiba misunderstood her words, thinking that she will give him soba. Sayaka wants to become stronger as Yaiba likes strong people. A flashback between Nadeshiko and Yaiba 6 years ago in the jungle is explored.

Yaiba and team learn of an orb that promises gravity-defying powers. But an undead assassin awaits... Yaiba's group (without Gerozaemon and Namako) go to find the Dragon God Orb. At Lake Biwa, they attain the Water Orb instead.

Lake Biwa's orb surprises, but it's Shikoku's Mt. Tsurugi that hides a shadowy and dangerous threat. Nadeshiko joins Yaiba's group at Shikoku. At Mount Tsurugi, they find the Gold Orb.
15	15	Showdown! Magician vs. Yaiba	July 19, 2025	November 21, 2025		V8 - C5 ~ V9 - C1 (074-080)
Team Yaiba may have secured the Gold Orb on Shikoku, but it's on to Kyushu, and on Yaiba's back. Yaiba's group continue their journey to Kumamoto. At Mount Aso, they find the Fire Orb.
16	16	A Battle of Giants	July 26, 2025	November 21, 2025		V9 - C2~8 (081-087)
Troupe Yaiba traipses to Nara for a pivotal tip-off, but it's an odd traveling warrior who shows up. First appearance of Ishikawa Goemon. Yaiba's group continue their journey to Nara. They later find the Giant Orb. However, after the battle at Osaka, Kumo-Otoko and Goemon manage to escape with Gold and Water Orb. When Goemon refers Sayaka as the girl Yaiba love, Yaiba denies it, saying that she is ugly. It make Sayaka angry and have a quarrel with Yaiba, before anyone realizes that Sayaka manages to free herself from hostage situation.
17	17	The Man of Yagyu Shinkage-ryu	August 2, 2025	November 21, 2025		V9 - C9~V10 - C4 (088-093)
Yaiba battles Goemon using the Orb of Giants only to lose two of the spheres to the villain's guile. First appearance of Jubei Yagyu. On their journey to Kawanakajima, Yaiba's group meet Jubei Yagyu, who is actually revived by Onimaru. However, he only transforms and remember Onimaru's order when he is drunk.
18	18	Crisis on Kawanakajima	August 9, 2025	November 21, 2025		V10 - C5~8 (094-097)
Jubei's giving Yaiba and team a fighting chance, but that's before they meet the ninja army. First appearance of Kerokichi, Kerosuke. Yaiba manages to defeat Goemon and not only he get Gold and Water Orb back, but also a new orb. Turns out it is Dark Orb, which pulls Yaiba and Jubei into it. After Goemon injured Sayaka, Yaiba become angry and decide to get revenge.
19	19	Darkness Orb Escape Training	August 16, 2025	November 21, 2025		V10 - C8~V11 - C4 (097-103)
Yaiba and others unmask the nature of Goemon's orb, and it's unlike anything they've encountered before. First appearance of Ryujin Yaiba and Jubei manages to escape from the Dark Orb. Yaiba also obtains Ice Orb.

The team is eager to grab the illusive final prize, but a decrepit temple and old man stand defiant. First appearance of Orb of Victory Yaiba obtains the final Orb. Turns out it is Orb of Victory, who tells them that the door to Dragon God Orb is at Mount Fuji

An off-the-wall sphere guides Yaiba to Mt. Fuji to find the elusive and perilous Dragon God Orb. Yaiba's group manage to reach the door that leads to the Dragon God Orb. However, they lost Shonosuke in the process.
22	22	Crossroads of the Soul	September 13, 2025	November 21, 2025		V12 - C3~7 (113-117)
Yaiba arrives at the crater of Mt. Fuji only to be faced with a dilemma he could've never imagined. Yaiba manages to reach the final test after losing his friends during the process. However, now he must choose between saving his friends and getting the orb.
23	23	The Dragon God Orb Ressurected!	September 20, 2025	November 21, 2025		V12 - C8~V13 - C1 (118-122)
At the trial to end all trials, the Dragon God desires decisiveness through an impossible choice. First appearance of Kaguya, General Tsukikage Yaiba passes the test and get the Dragon God Orb. Later during Yaiba and Onimaru's duel, Kaguya suddenly appears, declaring herself as soon to be Queen of Planet Earth.

With the ultimate orb and new maken, Yaiba is victorious. But a new battle unfolds over the Pacific. Both Yaiba and Onimaru retreat and prepare themselves to face Kaguya.

Manga to Anime Changes

• Overall, the setting and technology in the series is updated to reflect the 2020s instead of the 1980s and 1990s. For example, Sayaka using smartphone to stream the news and Kumo-Otoko using SNS to spread Onimaru's influence. Yaoya Town is now located somehwere around Taito and Sumida Ward, specifically near or instead of the respective districts of Asakusa (Taito) and Mukojima (Sumida).
• In manga, Nadeshiko Yamato only appeared in one chapter. The new anime make her a recurring character that help Yaiba in searching Dragon God Orb.
• In new anime during the search of Dragon God Orb, everytime Yaiba find an orb, he will see a vision.
