Kairi Yagi (八木 海莉 Yagi Kairi?), born on September 5, 2002, in Hiroshima Prefecture, is a Japanese singer-songwriter. Having started releasing music on Youtube in 2018, she signed with a major label company in 2021.

Starting December 2024, she is the vocalist of the musical project Kairi Yagi⚡Electric-Play (八木海莉⚡電音遊戯 Yagi Kairi / Den'on Yūgi?), which also features two members from rock band Age.

Biography

Born in Hiroshima Prefecture on 5 September 2002, Kairi Yagi passed an audition for Actor's School Hiroshima when she was in her fifth year of elementary school[1]. During her third year of middle school, she taught herself guitar, before moving to Tokyo the next year. On December 3, 2018, she started on her own Youtube channel, where she would publish videos of herself singing while playing the guitar.

She launched her website on April 10, 2021[2] and signed to major label company Kioon Music on December 18 of the same year. Her first single is titled Ripe Aster and is featured as the theme song of anime series The Irregular at Magic High School's 60-minute television film[3]. Her first CD single was released on March 16, 2022[4], followed by her first EP on April 27 of the same year[5]. She later held her first solo concerts in September 2022. On December 4, 2024, she launched her first musical projet, titled Kairi Yagi⚡Electric-Play (八木海莉⚡電音遊戯 Yagi Kairi / Den'on Yūgi?), which is a collaboration with keyboardist Kiyoshi Fujita (藤田 聖史) and drummer Tarō Ichihara (市原 太郎) from rock band Age (鋭児)[6][7].
