- The Night Baron computer virus ruins Kaneshiro Genichirou's girl dating game.

- Shuichi Akai receives the codename Rye, and is called to work under Gin, but is rejected from the Black Organization after Andre Camel ruins the FBI's trap for Gin.
- Tequila shows up at the office of computer graphics designer/games system engineer Itakura Suguru to say he was interested in the particular “system program” Itakura stopped developing one year ago.

- Shinichi Kudo solves his first solo case with the police's help on a plane to the New York City
- Teiko, the sister of Hiroshi Agasa's uncle, Kurisuke Agasa, passed away at 76.
- Jinpei Matsuda joins Metropolitan Police Division One under Miwako Sato's tutelage. He dies in terrorist bombing after sacrificing himself to obtain a code from the serial bomber who had sworn revenge on the police for the accidental death of his partner three years prior.
- Kansuke Yamato chased a parole jumper he believed to be involved with town hero Kuroto Kai's mysterious death into a mountain, where he got caught in the avalanche that took his left eye and leg.[30]He was missing and believed dead for several days until school friend Taka'aki "Koumei" Morofushi, also a police inspector, went against orders to track down the criminal and find Yamato.[31]
- Itakura Suguru is given a forced one year deadline to finish the program Tequila was interested in one year ago.

- Sharon Vineyard "died" and Chris Vineyard came out in public[32] for the first time at her funeral.
- Kaito Kuroba takes up the mantle of Kaitou Kid.[16] He and Shinichi have a showdown at a clock tower in Tokyo.

- Shinichi goes to Tropical Land with Ran to celebrate her recent karate victory. He encounters two members of a secret organization who give him a mysterious poison that causes Shinichi to de-age to approximately 6-7 years old.

- ^ Akai started infiltrating the Org five years ago. He did so by becoming Akemi’s girlfriend in order to get close to Shiho and use her influence to get in. (Manga Volume 58, File 2, pg 9: "Akai's Past") According to the FBI’s description, Shiho was “a scientist for them” at the time. Furthermore this took place in Japan since everyone was speaking Japanese, Akemi lived in Japan, and the FBI bust two years prior to the current timeline was in Japan (607 pg 8). If Shiho is 18 now, she would be 13 at the time Akai started infiltrating the Org and she was already a scientist for them at this point and high ranked.
