Conan, speaking in Agasa's voice, announces that he'll mimic the murderer's trick: Genta's shadow appears on the screen, which the others hadn't seen because a newspaper was covering the window. Conan signals to Ai to turn up the air conditioning, whereupon Genta swings back and forth on a rope with the other Detective Boys. Then Conan shows everyone how he uses mirrors to redirect the projector beam to the other window. The proof is the photos Ide took; they're blurry because the projector beam was shaking. Yuriko must have suspected something when she noticed the mirror was missing in the lounge. Furuhashi confesses to the murder and is taken away. | |||

Movie Theater Case
File 222 - Cinecittà
Conan, Ai, and the Detective Boys are watching a special three-movie screening at the cinema. High school student Toshiyuki Ide warns them not to be so loud and not to wave their hands so wildly, as they are disturbing the other patrons. However, since the cinema has recently acquired a bad reputation, only four other people are present.
After the first film, the children buy snacks in the lobby and learn from the saleswoman, Yuriko Tomosato, and the cinema owner, Akio Muramatsu, that the cinema will be closing after today. The real estate agent, Haruta, is already there and has started work. He has attended the screenings several times before, and each time a fight breaks out, keeping customers away. Toshiyuki Ide, who turns out to be a regular since childhood, appears in the lobby and takes some souvenir photos. Shortly before the second film begins, Yuriko goes to the supermarket to buy her forgotten lunch and, while she's there, picks up some tea for the projectionist, Furuhashi.
Midway through the movie, Mitsuhiko notices the air conditioning is suddenly running louder. Conan desperately needs the restroom but can't get up because Ayumi and Ai have fallen asleep leaning against his shoulder. Suddenly, a shadow appears on the screen. Yuriko, who's just returned from the supermarket, goes to investigate. When the lights in the movie theater come on, she and the other viewers see Seiji Haruta hanging out of the projector window.
File 223 - The Truth In The Mirror
Inspector Megure begins his investigation and questions those present. The Detective Boys state that the shadow appeared on the screen when the fairy emerged. Science fiction fan Ide then specifies the exact time. To prove his innocence, Ide shows Inspector Megure the photos he took of the film with his digital camera shortly before and during the incident. Since Mitsuhiko and Conan are also visible in the photos, tampering can be ruled out. The cinema owner, Muramatsu, testifies that the air conditioning suddenly ran faster and he left the auditorium to investigate.
Inspector Megure is shown the projection booth, which contains two projectors. Conan suggests that the perpetrator might have cut the film in two and switched to the second projector after hanging the body. However, this would have left visible marks on the screen. Yuriko Tomosato testifies that she returned from the supermarket around 12:45 PM and found only one projector switched on. Furuhashi had asked her to boil water in the staff room, which was very dirty and had a broken mirror. However, Mitsuhiko saw her in the women's restroom, where, according to her, she was adjusting her contact lenses.
Since Conan doubts that Haruta committed suicide, he looks around the women's restroom. Ai's comment about her reflection leads Conan to the solution of the case. He hurries back to the theater and finds ashes and cigarette butts on Haruta's seat.
File 224 - Dreamland
After Conan unmasks the murderer and his trick, he asks Professor Agasa for help in solving the case and gives him instructions. He also gives the Detective Boys an assignment. Just as Inspector Megure is about to send the suspects home, assuming Haruta committed suicide, the lights in the cinema suddenly go out, and Agasa's head appears at the window of the projection booth.
The children are allowed to finish the movie, and the theater owner, seeing them so happy, decides to keep the theater open.
