Inspector Megure examines the crime scene and notices the cut on the victim's foot and the numerous shards of glass on the floor. Kikuemon believes his daughter-in-law committed suicide because her artwork was broken. Conan remarks to Kogoro and Megure that Masuko's feet are clean, even though she was barefoot, suggesting she was carried there.
