Ray Curtis (レイ・カーティス ,Rei Kātisu) is a character in the manga and anime franchise Detective Conan.

Background

Ray was originally only a normal midfielder, but during a World Cup match, due to both the two goalkeepers from his team being out, he got arranged to substitute and serve as the goalkeeper. He successfully obstructed the incoming balls from the opposing team, thus receiving good results and making their team step up into the semifinal. From time to time, Ray has become much more renowned and has won several times in the Italian, Spanish, and American leagues. His jersey with the number "8" has also claimed fame. As a rather popular and well-known soccer player in Europe, he was always called the "iron bird".
