Detective Conan is officially known in Thailand as "ยอดนักสืบจิ๋วโคนัน" (lit. "Great Little Detective Conan") and received a lot of positive receptions. The manga, anime, and movies from the series continue to be localized and released in Thailand as of today.

Manga

Thai version of the manga volume 1

The manga is published in Thailand by Vibulkij Comics. Originally, the manga was flipped to be reading from left to right. Later volumes, including reprint of older volumes with updated front covers, retain the reading style from right to left.

As of now. Vibulkij has published a total of 106 volumes of the manga.

Beginning in November 2022, Vibulkij started publishing individual chapters ahead of the volume releases, to an e-book hosting service called Meb. Starting with chapter 1081.

Outside of the main series, Vibulkij also published the first 22 volumes of Detective Conan Special, certain compilations manga like Romance Selection and Conan Vs. Kaito Kid, and other related manga. Including Magic Kaito, Hanzawa the Criminal, Zero's Tea Time, and Wild Police Story spin-offs.

Anime

The Thai version of the anime is based on the international version. Thus the episode numbers is also following the international numbers, did not contain the Next Conan's Hint segment up until episode 1029. And having all special episodes cuts to into multiple parts to fit in a 30 minutes time slot.

There have been a number of Thai dubs produced in the past. Currently, there is only one ongoing Thai dub. Originally produced and distributed by TIGA Co., Ltd. Later on, it was taken over by Dream Express (DEX) Co., Ltd. since episode 1029, with supervision from TMS.

Television airings

On December 11, 1999. Modern Nine aired the first episodes of Detective Conan, broadcast during 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM (Now 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM) as a part of weekend cartoon program called "Modern 9 Cartoon" and began airing more episodes since then. Currently, the channel has finished airing season 16 as of March 2020. And occasionally aired a selection of episodes for holiday programs.

In 2002. True Vision began airing the anime on True Spark Play channel, (Formerly known as True Spark and True Spark Jump respectively.) starting with season 3. Originally, they are producing their own dub for the airing, before switching to the TIGA/DEX dub. Currently, it is the only TV channel to aired the anime.

In 2009. Cartoon Club channel has began airing the anime staring with season 1, using the TIGA dub. Their last programs were in the form of airing episodes from season 10 and 11 as a half-hour episodes, or as a part of a hour-long program called "The Detective Hour"

On June 28, 2021. Channel 7 announced that Detective Conan will be a part of their cartoon program called "Hit Cartoons on Weekends". Starting with episode 903 on July 4, 2021, airing every Sunday at 7:30 AM. Up until episode 1031 on March 24, 2024. Unlike Modern Nine, they are using the TIGA dub. But this airing was licensed to Dream Express [DEX] Co., Ltd. instead.

Releases

Volume 1 VCD of the anime.

In the early 2000s. The anime was first distributed in VHS format by Video Square. In 2006, TIGA acquired the distribution right and began publishing the anime in VCD and DVD format.

On April 11, 2015. TIGA announced they will no longer release the anime in physical format staring with season 12. Instead opting to release in other formats, including online streaming services.[1]

On December 19, 2024. True Vision announced that, in addition of releasing the anime through their new streaming service True Vision Now starting January 11, 2025. Season 24 (episode 1132 onward) will be available as both in dubbed and subtitled form. With the Thai dub airing one episode per week on the True Spark Play channel and added periodically on True Vision Now, while Thai subtitles will be available to all season 24 episodes. Alongside a simultaneously subtitled release for future episodes.

On April 25, 2025. the remastered version of the anime is available on Netflix. Including both Thai audio (using the TIGA dub) and subtitles, starting with episodes aired in 1996 and 2018. Notably, aside from the Next Conan's Hint and Joke Card, which does not have Thai audio due to the dub was originally produced without them. The Thai audio does not contain the opening narration for the early seasons, possibly due to the fact the dub was made using the international version, which has replaced certain opening songs / animation, and differences in sound mixing where the song restarted after the opening narration ended or using the album version instead.

Currently, there are four online streaming services available to watch the episodes:

Platform Episodes Note
TrueID 1-1131
  • Episode 453-666, and 806 onward use the Japanese version.
  • Episode 1029 onward includes Next Conan's Hint and Joke card.
  • Latest dubbed episodes will be aired on True Spark Play channel (alongside re-runs of older episodes), which is also available to watch on the platform.
True Vision Now 1029-current
  • Simultaneously subtitled release starting episode 1132, with dubbed version released periodically.
IQIYI 1-1131
  • Episode 453-666, and 806 onward use the Japanese version.
Netflix 1-173,
887-1032
  • Uses the remastered version for early episodes. Just like Netflix Japan, it does not contains next episode previews.
  • Does not contain Thai audio for the opening narration in episode 1-173. Also does not feature a voice track for Next Conan's Hint and Joke Card.
  • Episode 118, 129, and 144-145 were redubbed using the current voice casts. Due to the fact the original dub lacked post-credit scenes as it was cut from the international version.
  • Does not included Wild Police Story

As a part of promotion for One-eyed Flashback. Selected episodes were temporary available to watch on YouTube through Dream Express' official YouTube channel until June 15, 2025. The episodes were categorized into three groups as followed:

TIGA were also responsible for localized and distributed the movies in theaters, physical formats, televisions, and online streaming services. They began with distributing the early movies in VHS format for rental in 2000. Since then, TIGA has expanded into releasing the movies in VCD and DVD formats, distributed as a theatrical release, available to general consumers. However, as physical sales bagan to declined years later, TIGA has shifted to producing physical releases in limited numbers and for pre-order only.

TIGA has localized and distributed the first 23 movies. They also distributed the Episode One special and episode 927-928 as a theatrical release.

Starting with The Scarlet Alibi, futher movies and compilation movies will be distributed by Japan Anime Movie and Dream Express.

Trivia

  • The anime was mostly refer as "Detective Conan: The Series" in marketing materials. Some early episodes even have Conan refer the anime as "Conan the Series" at the end of the next episode preview.
    • The anime was also refer as "โคนัน เจ้าหนูยอดนักสืบ" (lit. "Conan the Great Little Detective) and "นักสืบรุ่นจิ๋ว" (lit. "The Little Detective") by Modern Nine and True Spark Jump respectively. Both channels have dropped these titles in favor of the official title used by TIGA and Vibulkij. But True Spark Jump still used their title on the program listing up until season 18.
  • Originally, Season 19 was planned to air on May 4, 2020 on True Spark Jump channel. But due to COVID-19 pandemic causing voice recording setback, the airing was pushed to July 5, 2020. Two months after the original air date.
  • Season 24 is the first season to feature a subtitled release, as all previous releases were exclusively dubbed. (While the airings on True Spark Play have Japanese audio support, there are no translated subtitle available.)
