The Missing Sweets in the Old Shop (消えた老舗の和菓子 ,Kieta Shinise no Wagashi) is the 694th episode of the Detective Conan. This episode is a pre-story for Private Eye in the Distant Sea. Unlike previous movie tie-ins this one was aired on TV.

Situation

Conan, Ran, Sonoko, Kogoro, and Detective Boys go to Kyoto by train. Ran and Sonoko decide to take the opportunity to buy some local pastries, but the chocolate desserts disappeared from all five stores of a famous confectionery company. The president asks for help from Kogoro to solve this huge case of theft. Inspector Ayanokoji with his chipmunk also join in, but being off duty he must call his assistant, Detective Kurumazaki.

The main suspect is a young woman dressed in pink, with a little pink car suspected. With great effort, Conan finds out the truth and uses the voice of Kogoro, but no need to put him to sleep this time, having been stunned by Ran after punches in face as punishment for going to see cherry blossoms and drinking sake during the case.

Resolution

The culprits are Umehara craftsmen #1 and #2. They have never produced chocolate desserts (Kyoto birds) and simulated a theft to prevent their boss to sell them on the day of the first anniversary of the former president's death, who hated the flavors other than the original red bean flavor. The president decides to not make a statement of damage, but especially to not offend the memory of his predecessor. With regard to the girl suspected, Mitsuhiko turns out she was coming from Shiromi, Osaka city, in search of chocolate desserts and then she's just like Ran. That night, Conan and the others are asleep exhausted from all actions in a Kyoto hotel, without knowing then that the great event of the after day begins to open. The warship Hotaka is anchored at the port of Maizuru Bay and also the ship suspected of American spies with explosive materials is approaching the coast where there is the Maizuru lighthouse.
