Tsukumo (九十九 ,Tsukumo?) is a character in the manga franchise Detective Conan.
Background
Tsukumo is a police detective working for Shizuoka Prefectural Police's headquarters and has been recently affected to the position or paired with Yokomizo, since he doesn't know about Kogoro often solving cases along with Conan.[1] His rank is lower than inspector Yokomizo's.
Personality
He is an obedient, but rather slow-witted detective, since he does follow his superiors' and Conan's orders just fine, but doesn't seem to be able to make deductions by himself. He also questions the validity of Conan's deductions and follows Yokomizo's theory at first.
Appearance
He is a young detective of average weight, with mid-length hair sent to the right and a big nose.[1] He is of average height, shorter than the tall Yokomizo, but about the height of Rumi.[2] He wears plain clothes, but without the jacket since they're still in a very hot summer.[1]

Plot overview
Beach House Murder Case (Manga: 1098-1099, Anime: 1148-1149)
Shortly after the murder of a beach house manager, Yokomizo, Tsukumo, and the forensics team arrive at the scene and quickly analyse the body. Conan then interrupts them and corrects them, and Yokomizo introduces him to the young detective. He assists the interrogation and runs a few errands to check details with forensics. Before they can bring the framed suspect away, Conan interrupts them and deduces who the true culprit is, which impresses him. After the case is solved, he and the police leave with the body and the murderer that just confessed.
Relationship analysis
Sango Yokomizo
He has a high respect for his superior Yokomizo and believes what he says, even following with his eyes to see if Kogoro was there just as the former said. Since he is probably still in training, he follows Yokomizo closely.
Conan Edogawa, Ai Haibara, and Detective Boys
He at first questions whether Conan, Haibara, and the Detective Boys actually are detectives and even suggests that they should leave the premises. After the deduction show, he is rather impressed.

Name origin
His surname, Tsukumo (九十九), literally means "99", and is found more commonly in Hiroshima and Tokushima prefectures.[4] His name is a reference to the fact that the Yokomizo brothers have numbers in their name: Sango sounds like "3-5" and Jugo sounds like "10-5", thus a joke can be made that "3x5" (Sango) equals "15" (Jugo). The kanji for Tsukumo (九十九) are similar to the kanji for "multiplication table" (九九)[5].
