Conan and the Detective Boys visit a rocket launch site at the Hanegashima Space Center, in southern Japan. A JAKTA employee explains to the visitors, which include elementary school students, the facilities and the purpose of today's rocket launch. Meanwhile, a man introduces himself to the Detective Boys and Agasa as Daisuke Hidaka, the space center's director and an old colleague of the professor. Everyone was eagerly awaiting for this particular event, but the launch was cancelled.
Hidaka explains that this might be related to a hacking incident from three months prior and later drives the disappointed Detective Boys back to town. In the shopping streets, they meet Heiji, who reveals that he is here for a case that he is investigating related to the exhibition at the local museum.
