Situation

Conan and the Detective Boys visit a rocket launch site at the Hanegashima Space Center, in southern Japan. A JAKTA employee explains to the visitors, which include elementary school students, the facilities and the purpose of today's rocket launch. Meanwhile, a man introduces himself to the Detective Boys and Agasa as Daisuke Hidaka, the space center's director and an old colleague of the professor. Everyone was eagerly awaiting for this particular event, but the launch was cancelled.

Hidaka explains that this might be related to a hacking incident from three months prior and later drives the disappointed Detective Boys back to town. In the shopping streets, they meet Heiji, who reveals that he is here for a case that he is investigating related to the exhibition at the local museum. The Detective Boys later seek out to find the hacker, as he must be somewhere on the island. They spot a blonde-haired foreign-looking woman with sunglasses and deduce that she is most likely not a tourist, as she has a tourist guidebook but has not even opened it. The Detective Boys try to tail her but she suddenly disappears. At night, the Detective Boys are at the ryokan and the owner explains the symbolism behind some constellations while they gaze at the stars.

The next day, they resume tailing the mysterious woman. Ayumi, who is close to getting her, is suddenly kidnapped and the woman tells the other Detective Boys to come meet her at the lighthouse through Ayumi's Detective Boys badge. When they arrive at the lighthouse, they see that Ayumi is safe, and the woman reveals herself as Mona Jagdish, a NASU employee currently investigating the hacking case. Heiji later finds out that "Star Circle", a radio communication company, is linked to the exhibition he is currently researching, at the same time as Jagdish tells the Detective Boys about that company.
