Personality

He believes that it is the job of the police to reveal the truth. He is also a good swordsman, with proficiency in Iaijutsu, the art of drawing swords.

Plot overview

Captured in Her Eyes (Movie: 4)

Conan and Odagiri.

After two police officers were murdered, the wedding ceremony of Shiratori's younger sister takes place a little later on which many police officers are present, including him. When his son shows up, he makes clear to him that he is unwanted, whereupon he leaves the celebration. After Sato is shot in the bathroom, he orders an ambulance to call and block all exits. He also causes every person, including him and all police members, to check for powder residues. Realizing that Conan also suspects him, he secretly follows him and discovers the truth. When the perpetrator is discovered and convicted by Conan and Ran in Tropical Land, all the police officers go there. Shortly after the arrest, he has his son interrogated for blackmail. Finally, he thanks and salutes Conan, because he first finds out the truth. When he asks who he is, before replying that he's just an elementary school student, Conan uses a typical police phrase to hide information: "Need not to know".

The Lost Ship in the Sky (Movie: 14)

When a microbiological laboratory is attacked, he calls a press conference along with Uno. During it, the perpetrators simultaneously pronounce another threat. Due to the seriousness of this case, he will take full command of the investigation. A week later, he learns that the gang is on the airship of Jirokichi, thanks to whom he had crushed them ten years ago, and threatens with bacteria and bombs, which irritates him. Informed by Megure in his office, just like Conan, he doubts about the modus operandi and Uno's version doesn't convince him. He instructs to observe the ship from a safe distance, while he informs the police in Osaka and the surrounding area.

Quarter of Silence (Movie: 15)

Along with Megure, Shiratori, and Kogoro, he presides the press conference about the Tokyo governor's attempt murder, thwarted by Conan leaving the credit to Kogoro. He helps Shinichi to keep his involvement hidden from the press, because Conan used his true voice ordering Megure to stop the train. He doesn't doubt like Conan about the real motive for that crime.

Zero the Enforcer (Movie: 22)

During the police assembly, he sits in the four most prestigious places along with Megure, Kuroda, and another high-ranked officer. When the HQ is targeted by the criminal, he evacuates to safety with the other officers and detectives.

Relationships analysis

Toshiya Odagiri

Father and son.

Toshiya Odagiri is his only son, a rock singer and band leader. Also left-handed, he is a boy who at first glance looks problematic and disobedient, always discusses with his father although they are in front of many people. He is usually selfish and ambitious, always looking for more money even if he has to be involved in drug problems. A year ago, he had blackmailed a heart surgeon who was involved in very dangerous drug issues. When he died, Toshiya was suspicious of his death because they had before a great discussion, but finally the case was closed and declared as suicide. He continued to investigate in secret and, due to the discussions they had stayed away, he snatched the lighter his son possessed with the victim's surname. At the wedding of Shiratori's sister, he gets angry with Toshiya because no one had invited him. Toshiya's intention is to continue fighting, but Sato manages to stop the discussion and ends with his son getting very angry. After the several attacks to police, Toshiya becomes one of the suspects, but Conan discovers that he is not the assassin. Finally, he arrests his son for blackmail.
