Yaiba is apparently more mischievous than he looks. Takeshi, the target of Yaiba's pranks and losing to him in their first real battle, is infuriated at Yaiba. Upon gaining the Sword of Fujin, Takeshi literally lives up to his name, becoming an "oni", or demon.
