Conan has Jirokichi activate the mechanism again while he sits in the bench of the room and the police wait outside to ambush '''Yuya Kazami''', whom Kaitou Kid has been disguising himself as. Prior to the heist, Kid got in the room as the mysterious man and put a rectangular box with its base matching the face of the prism he needed to put on. He put it under the bench Conan is currently sitting on, which explains why he once saw the middle leg of it being almost ''double'' the size of the other legs. It was after that when he knocked out Kazami and took his place, getting ready for the next part of the trick: He took advantage of the white paint he sprayed on the chimney to put the box and opened it so that everyone believed he had successfully stolen the item, while in reality it is the opposite. In addition, to make the box fit perfectly to the prism, one ''must adjust'' accordingly using their hands, which explains the pattern of white paint marks in Kazami’s hands. Another reason Conan and Rei are able to conclude Kazami is Kid in disguise is because Kazami gave Rei an answer related to a crime scene while the scene Rei was referring to was the idol festival.

Kaitou Kid is then surrounded by Jirokichi, Nakamori and his police force. Just as we believe that Kid will not escape, he takes the jewel and connects his wire gun to the wall one by one to escape. However, Conan has already planned this as Kazami has been disguising himself with the help of Conan’s voice changing bowtie as Rei while the real one is waiting outside where Kid just exits. He still escape from Rei's trick and return the crown like the usual drill, though.

Part 1
The line to visit the Robanov Emperor Exhibition today is very long because Kaito Kid will appear tonight to target the Queen’s Bang, the crown with the world’s largest ruby and also the centerpiece of the exhibition. Conan is present following Jirokichi's invitation along with Ran and Sonoko. Amuro and Azusa join in with them by chance because the Café Poirot owner has allowed them to visit the exhibition while the air conditioner (AC for short) of the café is under maintenance. Azusa suggests that the girls should go into a group while the boys do the same so that Amuro's fans can have a more favorable view.
The five still have to wait for their turn to visit the exhibition like everyone else, so Amuro is asked by his friends to make some interesting tricks with the cards Sonoko brought along. Suddenly, Amuro’s card tricks are deemed to be child plays by a mysterious person, whom Conan reveals to be Kaitou Kid in disguise to provoke the boy. However, the provocation ends up exciting Amuro as he calls Kazami, who is attending an idol festival featuring Yoko Okino, to join him.
Kazami goes with the five of them to the exhibition gallery, where he and Amuro reassure Nakamori and Jirokichi to ensure the safety of the jewelry. After the girls leave, Jirokichi shows Conan, Amuro, and Kazami a video demonstrating how his newest security system works: The room is installed with four pillars near the corner and a shorter ceiling that will fall on command if one tries to open the tiara case put on a prism. The riot policeman and everyone else are guided to always stay away from the section that the shorter ceiling covers, while the person that is caught opening the case must avoid being crushed by either getting on top of the case and letting themselves trapped on a carbon nanotube net or exceeding human limit to get away with the jewel.
Amuro asks Kazami if he’d checked the security plan sent by Nakamori, to which he simply responds that it has no problem. Amuro’s expression changes as he tells Kazami to leave since his job in the museum is done, which he refuses and excitedly says he wants to stay until the end. Both decide to split up and look around. Five minutes before the announced time, Azusa enters the gallery to have a chance to meet Kid once, having done so with the permission of Inspector Nakamori, who has become a regular of Café Poirot ever since the Tanuki safe incident. The time is up and everyone inside the room equips themselves with a gas mask, with the exception of Azusa, Amuro, and Kazami since they are not regulars in Kid encounters. Once the mist is gone, the case is still closed but it has Kid’s winning notice, and he is able to make everyone believe so when Conan goes up to open the case. Part 2
Conan begins by asking Amuro about the dish mentioned by a woman standing in line in the afternoon. He asks him why doing it at this particular moment, but gives him a proper answer regardless, and suggests he do so with Azusa. Conan asks her what is new on the menu directly, but she is unable to remember it due to the way her boss named it: Charcoal burner’s something. He then asks her again how she and Amuro were allowed to visit the museum, to which she responds immaculately.
Conan also reminds himself not to forget Kazami, and asks about his schedule since he overheard Amuro's call with him. Kazami replies to him impatiently, which Amuro explains why Conan does not have to know. Amuro then asks Kazami personally about the scene, which he deemed there was nothing suspicious. Conan then asks to see photos of the exhibition hall, where he finds something strange in the middle leg of a bench. He continues with the white paint marks in the hands of Amuro, Kazami, and Azusa after accidentally seeing that of Amuro.
