|summary=The episode starts with the conversation between the Mouri family in a yacht, as Kogoro receives a call from someone claiming themselves to be Keiji Asoh. Upon reaching the island, the Mouris are shocked to know that Keiji Asoh killed his family, set his house on fire, and played Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata as his house burnt around him. Ten years later, the surviving piano was deemed cursed because of the death of the island's mayor, which shares similarities with Keiji's death. The night becomes mysterious as the first movement of the moonlight sonata is played, Hideo Kawashima is found dead inside the piano room; and not long after the first murder, when the second movement of the sonata is played, Tatsuji Kuroiwa is found dead as well.

Upon reaching the island, the Mouris are shocked to know that Keiji Asoh killed his family, set his house on fire, and played Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata as his house burnt around him. In addition, the surviving piano was deemed to be cursed two years ago when the former mayor of the island died, mainly because of its similarities to Kenji’s death. The night becomes more gloomy as after the first movement of the moonlight sonata is played, Hideo Kawashima is found dead inside the piano room; and not long after the first murder, when the second movement of the sonata is played, Tatsuji Kuroiwa is found dead as well.

Subaru then visits the professor to ask him about the tray, thus allowing Sera, who is observing the residence, to come in as well. The five then proceed to go to Nishitsu’s house, but when Agasa arrives in the room, he sees Nishitsu bleeding, with the latter telling Agasa about the real tray before being killed by a person hiding in the wardrobe after Agasa leaves. The Police then arrive and interrogate the other tray owners since only 1 out of 3 antique trays is real, with all do not have any alibi when the murder took place.
|summary=Agasa reveals to Conan that he has hired an antique appraiser Hogen Nishitsu to assess the value of the antique tray he got from [[The Secret of the Moon, the Star, and the Sun|his uncle's house]] long ago. Coincidentally, Nishitsu also receives the same request from three different people with their own trays, and Agasa will be at the appraiser’s house for the result today. Meanwhile, Masumi has been stalking Haibara from outside, trying to snatch the antidote from the girl, and is given a chance when Subaru visits the professor. They eventually decide to visit Nishitsu’s house together. Upon arriving, Agasa calls the appraiser but receives no response, prompting him to go inside to check out. There, he finds Nishitsu bleeding heavily, and is informed by the appraiser which tray was the real one. Agasa leaves the room, trying to call the ambulance and the police, but the man dies when the culprit comes back to deal the fatal stab on him...

For the character interactions, Sera’s attempts of pressuring Haibara into giving the antidote was interrupted by Subaru, which prompts her to attack Subaru. Subaru simply dodges it, and tells her to act for feminine. However, Sera’s comments raise doubt on Subaru if their mom had died. Conan confirms to Subaru that Sera is his younger sister. Subaru replies that he does not want Sera to be involved in the clash of Red and Black.
Meanwhile, Masumi's attempts of persuading Haibara into giving the antidote was interrupted by Subaru, prompting her to attack Subaru. Subaru simply dodges it, and tells her to act for feminine, to which she replies she doesn't have to because her mother's chest used to be huge??? Subaru asks if her mother passed away, which Masumi refuses to answer entirely. Conan then asks Subaru in secret if Masumi is his younger sister; he confirms it and explains he does not want his sister to be involved in their ordeal with the Black Organization.

It appears that Mary seems to have consumed the same potion as Conan and knows the real meaning of sister outside the domain.
