Shibakaru admits that the phone that rings in his pocket belongs to the victim. Conan reveals that the victim did commit suicide to expose the three suspects' past crime to the media.

Haibara tells Conan of the last characteristic of Rum that is the same from every source talking about him. He lost his eye in an accident and now one of his eye is a prosthesis.

Trivia

• The external character Lum Invader, a character from the manga series Urusei Yatsura by Rumiko Takahashi, is a pun on the similar sounding of the names "Lum" and "Rum" due to the Japanese pronounciation of the Katakana syllable "ラ". In the Japanese original, Haibara adds the word "-daccha", which is a famous speech affection committed by Lum.
  • Incidentally, Fumi Hirano, Lum's voice actress in the manga's animated conversion, previously performed the role of Reiko Shimizu in the Detective Conan movie The Private Eyes' Requiem.
