OMM: Was walking home from school today and took the shortcut behind my old elementary school like I usually do.  Suddenly I saw something small and white fall past my face, and took a few seconds to realize it was single snowflake.  It was relatively sunny outside and it caught me completely off guard.  I turned my head toward up at the sky and instinctively looked to the sun peeking over a large cloud.  I could see the individual rays bathing the playground I used to love as a child as the light broke through the edges of the cloud and more snowflakes began to gently fall toward me, riding on the easterly wind.  I glanced around and realized I was the only person around.  I stopped to take in the sight and wished I had a camera on me.  The isolated flurries stopped within a minute, no trace of their presence left behind.  It was quite the magical moment, and while part of me wishes others could have experienced the natural beauty I did today, the other part of me is glad I was on my own to fully maximize the serenity.  Nothing I write here can hold a candle to what I saw.  What a wonderful way to end the school week!

Oh geez, I haven't experienced something like this for the longest time. I've been caught up in so much work these days I was never able to fully appreciate or acknowledge this sort of phenomenon. Most of the time I'm running hectically from place to place so I don't fall behind. It's times like this where I really wish I could have a 'do nothing' day so I can finally give myself an opportunity to unwind. Natural beauty is often overshadowed when work takes top priority. I've been in a salty mood lately so reading this really helped take me back to my more tranquil days. Once I get my midterms and stresses over with, I think I'll take a day to wallow in as much nature as possible before the next term begins. Perhaps if I'm lucky, I'll be able to experience some diamond dust if temperatures get cold enough.

A day off would be fantastic, but I digress.

I'm glad you decided to share this. January is one of the more depressing months for me.

come on

you know that canada is t best place on that side of the world

It is. We always joke about how Canadians are overly-nice people. Durr I'm so not patriotic...

It's funny to see how far people would take it. If there's an 'A' in the acronym of some company, 50% of the time it'd be 'America'. During the World Cup, it was the thing to chant "U S A!" since that was what the media used. And I don't know if you've been around certain Youtube comments sections, but there's a lot of "Heck yeah, America!" Replace the "heck" with whatever word you deem appropriate.

iPhone. I prefer DCW on my laptop. It's easier for me.

I can't stand using a laptop. PC B)

the notion that america is something special is absurd

the notion that america is something special is absurd

I wouldn't go as far as "absurd", but I can see why other people think America is overrated. And the imperialistic views during the Spanish-American War were embarrassing...
