  1. Gosho has never revealed Ran's birthday and gave a very recent interview (which you can read on the manga spoilers board) basically saying he was withholding it until the right time - probably a love story.蘭の誕生日教えて!→差し支えあるので今は言えない。でもまだ誕生日来ていないので蘭は現在16歳。 Tell me Ran's birthday! → Since there's an obstacle can't tell for now. But since the birthday hasn't passed Ran is 16 right now.
  2. It's Maurice who decides stuff like adding new subforums. I don't know if he monitors most of threads. You'll probably have to get his attention to ask about it.
  3. Edit my profile --> Settings --> Notification options Scroll down to the tic boxes to limit the incoming notifications you recieve. To delete all notifications, you will probably have to check the select all ticbox and delete the page. It's pretty fast. Just do 20 pages at a time spread out over several days and it won't be too bad.
  4. This reminds me of a cryptography puzzle I think this one is the asymmetric key version with a three pass protocol. Gosho seems to have set the trick up so we can assume the locks are unpickable and there are no spare keys for the locks. (That doesn't mean there are no extra lock and key sets though!) Even so, there are a whole bunch of attack routes available assuming the box is not authenticated. For the sake of explaining, the sender Kasuga who puts the fruit in will be called K. Takeki, the critic with the other lock is the receiver and will be called T. The man in the middle attacker will be M. 1) The attacker could swap out the box if both sender and receiver can't instantly recognize they were sent a different box or locks than normal. If M has two spare locks, fruitlike objects, and a spare box, he could intercept the box coming from K and put his own lock on it and send it back to K, making K think T received it. K takes off his own lock thinking the lock on there currently is Ts and sends to box back where M intercepts it, opens his own lock and peeks inside the box. Meanwhile M sends his own box with his lock and fruits to T, so T thinks it is from K. The three pass is carried out with M in the middle and T winds up with M's box, thinking it is from K. If this is what happened when T opened the box to publicly reveal the contents, K would find out he had been tricked, but T wouldn't know unless K told him. The trick would not be discovered if M could fully complete the exchange with K first, so M could put the same fruits in his box to T. 2) The contents of the box don't seem to be authenticated either -- if the sender did not include a special secret item in the box that the receiver is expecting then the receiver can't tell if an attacker tampered with the contents of the box. M, using the second version the attack described above, could completely get away with it. 3) Trick box: if the box can open any other way, anyone could fiddle with it. 4) A non-trustworthy receiver or sender could collaborate with M to fix the final contents. I'm going to guess K is likely trustworthy because he will feel the brunt of the blame if cheating occurs. T's side though seems to have holes even though T himself was probably trustworthy. To review the security details known so far, the security of the sender Kasuga's lock and key are unknown, but the receiving Takeki thinks the lock is in good working order. I think we can assume the receiver's lock is completely open to swapping because it was plonked in an easily accessible drawer. The receiver's key is locked up in a bank vault until the show and seems to have been escorted to the premises by assumed trustworthy bankers. Anyone who could tamper with the vault or direct the bankers could switch the receiver's key. There is a brief window during the key hand-off where the person passing the key to Osamu Kenzaki could pull a sleight of hand to swap the keys. I think we can assume Osamu is trustworthy as an unlocker because he is a recurring character. The three-pass exchange itself seems to be fairly lax, suggesting that M messing with the exchanges is a viable option. The sender Kasuga will likely take the brunt of the suspicion for the murder given the situation so far, and seeing how his reputation was already being doubted, I think he wouldn't have chosen this method as long as this crime was premeditated. Taruoka, as the one doing the handoff and directing the others (maybe even the bankers?) is in the best manipulator position. I think I'm most suspicious of him for now. Furuya had access to the receiver's lock and was not watched, so he had opportunity, just not quite as much as Taruoka who handled the key too.
  5. That poll site about coffee you linked is super sketchy. I would not encourage people to take a poll that asks you to give your your given and family name, birthday, your gender, and your email.

  6. Read privacy policy. Summary: "We sell any personal info you give to us, lol"Basically this quiz asks for your given and family name, birthday, your gender, and your email. With this information, a phisher looking to steal your login info to various sites could craft a very convincing personalized email to trick you into giving up passwords. Think twice about taking online polls like this; a decent site wouldn't ask for this level of personal info. At the very least, lie like a dog.
  7. Check the first post, dear readers. This thread's best theories and commentary have been sorted!
  8. Firefox is still sending site warning notifications, but only some of the time I visit the site. I can click through multiple pages without issue before one is redirected to the attack warning page. I'm not sure if it is certain pages or certain servers that trigger the warning, but it seems whoever decides when to serve attack warnings hasn't updated their current page statuses.

  9. It isn't the same. I made an attempt to look it up, but didn't succeed. There is a panel later in the case where the logo is visible. Unfortunately, I am not familiar enough with motorcycle logos to tell what it is by shape alone without being able to make out letters.
  10. Welcome to DCW!
  11. Somehow I imagine a fight with Amuro would be something like that brawl scene from the 2009 Sherlock Holmes movie.

  12. So apparently Gosho confirmed in that interview that Amuro does boxing. What is your opinion of Jeet Kun Do vs. boxing? Also do you think Akai does Jeet Kun Do or something else based on the very small amount of times we actually have seen him hand to hand?

  13. So it's Jeet Kun Do vs. boxing? I wonder if Akai does Jeet Kun Do as well? Yura Station (由良駅 Yura-eki) is a railway station located in Tottori Prefecture.
  14. The Memories of First Love Case? It's pretty ironic because that case is the last one before Haibara appears in the manga, but they are 28 episodes apart in the anime, pretty much a whole season. No, that woman was the leader of a criminal money forging gang called Silver Fox. She is apparently not anyone important because she has never appeared again.
  15. Conan Edogawa and Ai Haibara Not our best written article, but it is probably what you are looking for.
  16. Amuro saw Conan's working phone and told him to contact the police. Amuro can deduce that if Conan had that earlier, he would have used it to contact the police instead of sending a cat with a message. That must mean Conan had only just been given that phone to help him. Amuro's first suspect is probably Professor Agasa because they were just outside his house. Amuro could be mistaking Agasa for Okiya because it was Okiya driving during the car chase in 800 after Ran called Agasa and told him track Conan. Looking at the cars would fix that mistaken assumption and would lead Amuro to Shinichi's place. It would be bad if Amuro tried to go into Agasa's house because he might find Okiya's listening devices. Agasa and Haibara don't know about them, so even if Haibara hid all her lab supplies and herself ahead of time, Amuro could still find the bugs. Then he could justify a more thorough search of the house -- or even Shinichi's house because the broadcast range of wireless listening devices (that aren't Agasa's magical contraptions) is limited. Akai is stuck between moving out to hide better, and staying at Shinichi's to protect Haibara. I think he will choose the second option. This is a repeat from DCTP, but if anyone is wondering why Amuro is apparently crazy prepared enough to have a wind physics simulator that can model Beika City on his phone, I think that the Black Organization would have developed this app for Org snipers trying to account for crosswinds in Tokyo. I wonder if the Organization has a private app store with downloadable crime-aiding software?
  17. Apparently an informal interview was given by Gosho on Jan 3rd, 2013 to fans. There is no transcript I know about (hopefully something more detailed will pop up to confirm) but reports of what was talked about made it onto Baidu. Usually interviews from there are somewhat suspect, but this info seems to be well regarded because it isn't absurdly revealing, the poster included pictures of the informal meet, and a similar informal interview (linked) was given last year around this time. The Japanese person who was at the previous year’s interview also had commentary on this one. The Chinese and Japanese accounts do not contradict each other, so it is extremely likely the info is accurate. http://tieba.baidu.com/p/2081711892 今天柯南作者见面会问答 组织消息 Posted by 我爱贝尔摩得 Y大蟹酥Y微博消息 大叔说还会有新的组织成员登场 否认boss是阿笠博士 灰原和琴酒确实有关系,但具体是什么关系敬请期待 怪盗基德不会再和组织有交集 明年20周年可能会画组织相关内容 大boss没有酒名代号,但成员的代号都是大boss起的 Translation by Conan4869 with edits: Gosho said there [could be] a new member of the Black Organization [appearing], denied Agasa is BO boss. There is a relationship between Sherry and Gin, wait to see what relationship between them. Kaito Kid won't be involved in the BO story anymore. Next year 20th anniversary (Year 2014) he may create a story about BO. BO boss had no codename related to alcohol, but members' codenames are named by BO boss. Analysis Likely no big BO confrontation cases will happen in 2013, although the plot with Amuro, Sera, and Akai should go on. Chapter 900 will fall in approx February-March 2014 at the current rate, which suggests Gosho will hold off until 2014 - the 20th anniversary of DC. (For anime watchers, BO cases or cameos often occur on manga file numbers that are multiples of 100) Gosho may be thinking about introducing another new BO member, but he is probably going to clean up some of the current plot first. It will probably be a while before there are any new BO. To put it in perspective, the Nagano case Gosho talked about last year in January still hasn't happened yet. It would make the most sense to introduce a new member in File 900 in 2014 to coincide with the 20th anniversary. We already knew Agasa wasn't the boss and the boss gave out alcohol codenames. No more Kaitou Kid messing up the BO plot!!! <- BEST NEWS I doubt Gosho will clear up Sherry and Gin's relationship. Whenever the issue came up in earlier interviews, he gave pretty much the same answer. The only new development about that mystery since the early Vermouth arc is Gin thinking of Shiho naked again in the train case. Fans have been asking Gosho about the two of them since the Vermouth arc without success, so it must be sensitive and/or something Gosho is saving for later.
  18. First post of the Boss thread is getting organized.

  19. The title has been changed.

  20. In case you are wondering why you have three message notifications and only one text, another forum/wiki site was hit by a trojan exploit I thought might be similar to the one that hit DCW, but then I found out it was ads so I deleted the message. Sorry about that.

BTW tried clearing cache and logging in & out to see if that fixed current DCW problems. Unfortunately no.

  21. This was a pretty fun case even though there was no mystery.
  22. How about "Mr. Tsuburaya's compensation." or "Mr. Tsuburaya's side benefit."
  23. I keep changing my mind. Some cases I read and think Kogoro knows, and some I think there is no way he does... On one hand, Kogoro knew Shinichi when he was little because Ran would get in trouble with him a bunch, so it wouldn't be unusual for Kogoro to recognize Shinichi. Kogoro might go to sleep for real suspecting that Shinichi is using him. Kogoro realizes that Shinichi got in some real trouble and needs to hide, so hits Shinichi on the head whenever he becomes too obvious -- or when he is annoying because Kogoro knows he can get away with it. On the other hand, Kogoro isn't the least bit worried that whoever attacked Shinichi and turned him into a little kid might come after him or Ran. There was that one situation where Kogoro suggested Ran and Conan shower together, which he would never do if he knew Conan is Shinichi. Kogoro generally acts like he doesn't know about Conan, and he is pretty unaware in general. Kogoro is also usually a bad actor, so how could he keep it secret that he knows Conan's identity for long? Maybe he gets suspicious like Ran and switches between thinking Conan is Shinichi and not?
