Hello, Aoyama here.
Detective Conan 10+ is finally complete!
Wow… looking back at these early works really brings back memories~~~!
Conan’s height was a bit strange… Ran’s hair wasn’t pointy yet… Megure’s nose was round… Everything still felt like a newborn baby wobbling around (Laugh).
Well then, please enjoy watching how Conan and the others gradually “grow up”♪
(Meanwhile, my own drawing style seems to be getting more and more childlike… (Laugh))

Hello, Aoyama here!
So we finally made it to 20+ (Laugh).
This period was just an all-out parade of dream matchups I had always wanted to draw!
A showdown with Kaito Kid (who smashes things up, Laugh)!
The long-awaited first appearance of Heiji, who I had been planning since Volume 2!
The Osaka arc, where Heiji and Kazuha go wild in their debut!
And of course—something I can never forget-
around the time the anime adaptation was decided,
there was that much-talked-about “miracle collaboration” with Two-Mix! (Laugh)
Minami Takayama, who pulled off the dual role perfectly,
and Shiina Nagano, who wrote such mysterious lyrics for us—
thank yoooou~~~!!
Well then, please enjoy these many dream showdowns
Take a good, close look~~♪

Hello, Aoyama here!
They keep coming one after another—now we’re already at 30+ (Laugh).
This 30+ volume set is where all those suspicious and mysterious characters begin to appear one after another!
Vermouth, Jodie-sensei, Akai Shuichi… and finally Hakuba (Laugh).
Come to think of it, this is also around the time I started the whole Metropolitan Police Love Story (?).
Speaking of love stories, this was also when I brought in the “older sister story,” the Mermaid Legend case, the school festival, Kyogoku, and Midori-san.
It was packed full of romantic comedy♡(Laugh)
But personally, the one I like the most is Shinichi’s very first case with Ran.
(Which… yeah, is also a romantic comedy! (Laugh))
Well then, please take a good, thorough look at all the lovey-dovey Rom-Com moments~~~♪

Hello, Aoyama here!
And here it is again, 40+ (Laugh)!
If you talk about the highlight of the 40s, it’s gotta be “Metropolitan Police Love Story: The Bomb Case,” right? (Laugh)
The nihilistic, wild, cool detective with a shady past, Jinpē Matsuda!!
The name “Matsuda” is actually my all-time favorite name, so I’d been saving it just for this detective.
Come to think of it, the “arranged-meeting case” where Sato and Takagi start hitting it off is also in this 40+!
So, if you’re a fan of that detective “couple” (Laugh),
please read every last corner of this volume all the way through!
Ah, but don’t read it too closely and start finding mistakes in the deductions…
That would be bad, you know… (Laugh)

A: If I have the opportunity to gather information ...
Q108: Before Detective Conan ends, can you somehow allow Chiba and Miike Naeko enter a relationship?
A: Please look forward to it!
Q109: Nowadays, are you the only one working on the storyline for Detective Conan, or is there a team behind it?
A: I can't talk too much about this. (laughs)
Q110: Were Conan's elementary school registration papers faked?
A: Probably, Professor Agasa ... (mystery)
Q111: Any dramas you're into recently?
A: I've been watching Shitsuren Chocolatier recently as a reference for romance stories. (laughs)
[T/N: The drama is about this guy who looks up to his senior in school, and has a one-sided love for her. He's a chocolatier, so he dreams of making the perfect chocolate for her. Along the way he gets toyed with by his senior, and in the end, he moves on and doesn't end up with anyone, even though there's someone he clearly likes/likes him back.]
Q112: Which Conan movie do you like best?
A: The Time-Bombed Skyscraper, and Countdown to Heaven. The recent ones are pretty good, too.
Q113: Are you going to write a little bit of story after they work out who's the leader of the BO? As a fan, I'd like to see a bit of what comes after!
A: I might draw a little bit about what comes after the leader's been found out.
Q114: I'm born in 1994, which is the same year the series started! Instead of a question ... I'll just wish it good luck! Detective Conan, please don't ever end. (laughs)
A: G-Got it! (laughs)

Hello, Aoyama here!
And finally, 50+ has come out! After 8 years?
I really thought it might never get released (Laugh).
What leaves the deepest impression in the 50+ is, yeah, the showdown with the Black Organization, right?
I even did it twice (Laugh).
My recommended scene from the first one is:
“Ho— so that guy is called Calvados…
A rifle, a shotgun, and three handguns… I thought he was some kind of arms dealer.”
For the second one:
“So we finally meet… my dear, dear nemesis?”
—Hey, aren’t both of those Akai’s lines!! (Laugh)
Also, we collaborated with “3rd Base Fourth,”
brought in Suzuki Jirokichi—Conan world’s top-level rich guy—for battling Kid,
had Ran suspect Conan and imagine a ‘Black Shinichi’ (Laugh),
and this is also where the boss’s email address was revealed to be “Nanatsu no Ko.” (Seven Children) all happened in this 50+!
Speaking of which, at the shipboard party that served as the stage for the first showdown with the Organization,
Oni-maru-sama from Yaiba is secretly participating…
Did you manage to find him? (Laugh)

Hello, Aoyama here!
Plus—when it comes out, it really comes out, huh? 60+!! (Laugh)
The 60+ is just packed full of recommended stories!
“The first appearance of Goro,”
“Kyogoku’s Christmas Eve Eve story,”
“Detective Koshien,”
“Shinichi and Ran in first grade decoding a cipher,”
“The assault operation on Haido Central Hospital,”
“The Akai assassination order at Raiha Pass,”
“The Furin Kazan Murder Case”………
There are so many that I don’t even know where to start talking about them… (Laugh)
Among all that, the absolute top recommendation is the ‘Yuki-onna Legend Murder Case,’ which ends up spanning both 50+ and 60+!!
It’s the story where Shinichi and Heiji actually had a near miss with each other back when they were in junior high.
The final scene—
“Well, even if we don’t meet now… since we’re detectives…”
“Someday again… on some mysterious stage…”
—was something I had been warming up and saving for about two years before drawing this story.
It’s a shame I couldn’t draw it in a big panel (Laugh).
Ah, and visually speaking, the top recommendation is of course that one page in the ‘Haido Central Hospital Assault Operation’ where Akai tells Camel: “Good work… you did well.” ♪ For this story, I actually started drawing from that page first (Laugh). I really put my spirit into it…
Speaking of which, Casval—I mean, Okiya Subaru—
also made his appearance in this 60+…
There’s just no way I can talk about everything…

SDB 70+ Questions
(Translated by Startold, Norman4869, Chris, ALAKTORN, [red])
Q1: What's the greatest change in your life since serialization started?
A: I grew older. (laughs)
Q2: Where in Beika City would Aoyama-sensei like to visit?
A: Shinichi's house, maybe.
Q3: For the Meitantei Zukan (the Detective Picture Book at the end of the volumes), your assistants are the one who choose them, right?
A: In general, the assistants are the ones who choose. By the way, all the Japanese authors who really exist have had permission obtained from them before they are featured. Likewise, we also seek permission from the Japanese actors who appear.
Q4: Who's your favorite character in Sangokushi (Records of the Three Kingdoms)?
A: Probably Guan Yu. He's a good businessman, and is a strong fighter.
Q5: What is the secret to surviving as a manga artist?
A: Don't allow yourself to draw whatever you think of, and you need to incorporate clichés that everyone expects to see. In other words, 'balance.'
Q6: Any place you recommend visiting in London?
A: The Holmes Museum. The people attending left drawings of Conan-kun (TN: in some place where you can leave drawings, presumably). Edogawa Conan enters the scene! (laughs)
Q7: What do you consider when creating a character?
A: Their personality is usually inspired by a character in dramas/movies, the people around me, aspects of myself, and so on.
Q8: Be straight about it, who is Aoyama-sensei's favorite female character in Detective Conan?
A: You don't mean an ideal marriage partner, right? In that case, Ran. If you mean a life partner, Yukiko ... (laughs)
Q9: Please tell me your top five characters and top five stories.
A: My favorite character is Conan (same goes for the other four). I liked the story with the bomb that featured Matsuda in Volume 36.
Q10: What do you like about Conan-kun?
A: He makes me money ... if I said that, he'll get mad at me. (laughs)
Q11: Please don't let Detective Conan end this year. I'm on an exchange program overseas for a year, and not in Japan.
A: It's still a long way from the end!
Q12: What are your sources of inspiration while drawing Conan?
A: Movies, dramas, plays.
Q13: For the 20th anniverary’s movie, I’d like you to make Kudō Shin’ichi the main focus, since he never has been before. For the first 1-hour half, you would have a story about Shin’ichi’s past (Shin’ichi×Ran), for the latter half you would have a story in the present, where Shin’ichi’s future is connected to Ran. What do you think about this idea?
A: That’s pretty good. I’d like to see it. Draw it! (laughs)
Q14: I would like to see more episodes with Shinichi.
A: Me too. (laugh)
Q15: Do you feel stressed about drawing Conan, since the series's being more and more popular?
A: Not at all.
Q16: Have you already thought of ending quickly Conan so you could have more time for yourself?
A: A little. I would like to have more time to play Kantai Collection.
(Note : Aoyama says "Kan Kore", so I assume he's talking about "KanColle", so "Kantai Collection", a card game popular in Japan).
Q17: Is there a trick to continue writing an already long story?
A: There maybe is one, but I don't know it.
Q18: What feeling have you got when you draw the scenes where the murderer kills someone?
A: The feeling of being a murderer. (laugh). I think I must have strange faces at these moments.
Q19: How do you think up snobbish expressions/dialogue?
A: I think of situations that make people unhappy/uncomfortable, and naturally, those expressions will come.
Q20: What do you want from Japan in the future?
A: Stop the Olympic Games!
Q21: What's your favorite Mai Kuraki song?
A: "Secret of my Heart".
Q22: I’d like you to have an arc in Kyōto in the manga, not just in a movie. Since the movie had Kyōto in the spring and Ushiwakamaru as its theme, for the manga I’d like you to make it Kyōto in autumn with Sakamoto Ryōma as its theme.
A: Kyōto is nice, isn’t it? It would be nice if I could go there to gather material. Kyōto’s cuisine is also nice, isn’t it?
Q23: Do you know how to play soccer?
A: Not at all.
Q24: I would like to be a seiyu in "Conan" in the future. How can I be one?
A: Do your best!
Q25: Please make Conan appear in Tōhoku.
A: Then I should travel to Tōhoku to gather data. (laughs)。
Q26: What stories are the longest to prepare?
A: In drawing, it must be the Men in Black stories.
Q27: On volume 79's cover, we can see Conan picking up his glasses, but he has already got them on his nose. Is it an error?
A: Really?! It's an error.
Q28: Is there a character that appeared in only one case, but gained unexpected popularity?
A: The liar from Detective Koshien, Koshimizu Natsuki.
Q29: Do you have time to think of something else than "Detective Conan"?
A: Yes. When I play Kan Colle.
Q30: Please have a Kansai Detective Conan exhibition and a fanmeeting where we can meet Aoyama-sensei.

A: Yes I do.
Q32: Aoyama-sensei, please do your best in the future for Conan.
A: I'll do my best!
Q33: Were you successful on your diet?”
A: “I wasn’t. I caught a cold. When you catch a cold it makes you think that you should eat, doesn’t it?!
Q34: Which artists have influenced your drawing style?
A: Monkey-punch-sensei, Chiba Tetsuya-sensei and Adachi Mitsuru-sensei. And Akemi Matsunae-sensei too Mix those four artists, and you'll get my drawings.
Q35: How do your ideas for the stories come up?
A: I think of it before sleeping. Like, "Oh, it would be funny if I did it like that"...
Q36: I think fans send you lots of mail. Do you manage to read them all?
A: I manage. Thank you very much. Fans ask from time to time autographs/signatures, but if I do an autograph for one fan, I should do it for all the others, so please understand me. Sorry.

A: No, not really... But I've watched Gyopi-chan ("Goldfish Warning!") in the past.

Q46: Sensei, of all the Conan movies that have been released, is there one movie you like more than others?

A: No they are not.
Q106: Please draw a shower scene involving Gin.
A: Ehh~~ (laughs) Please don't ask me to, you pervs.
Q107: I personally would like to have a great mind that works coolly like Conan's, and also a strong presence like Gin's that will heat up the story once I appear. The age Gin was at when he knew of the organization, and the reason behind his joining are things/stories that I would like to know. Please draw them.
A: Ah, right. I want to draw those.
Q108: In the finale, I think Conan will be fatally wounded by Gin.
A: (laughs) Eh? And that's the end?
Q109: Could Ran be the Black Organization's boss?
A: No, she could not.

A: A lot.
Q111: My friend told me that Conan is the Black Organization's boss.
A: Tell your friend "You're stupid!", and that it's wrong (laugh)
Q112: My mother says the Boss is Vermouth, but she can't explain why. Is she correct?
A: It's not Vermouth.

A: No, it's false.
Q114: When Conan's identity is exposed, will he personally let Ran know?
A: How should I put it.
Q115: I want to read a case where Conan and Haibara are both adults.
A: There's a situation like that in the drama adaptation. Now that you mention it, I feel like drawing it too.
Q116: Who is the sister from outside the domain?
A: Keep reading the manga and stay tuned!
Q117: Did Sera-chan and Conan-kun meet in Hawaii?
A: No, why?
Q118: Is there anyone that Sera Masumi loves?
A: Yes, there is.
Q119: Who's that person?
A: Keep reading the manga!
(Note : "that person" is written "その人" (sono hito). The journalist is not talking about Ano Kata)
Q120: Who does Sera like now?
A: It should be Conan.
Q121: Has the location where Conan and Ran met Sera been drawn before? Even for one moment.
A: It has never been drawn.
Q122: Are Sera and Shinichi cousins?
A: No.
Q123: Won't it be interesting if Sera, who looks like a boy, appeared together with Eisuke, who looks like a girl?
A: I wonder what will happen.
Q124: Which do you not want to get in a fight with, Sera or Ran?
A: Both ... Well, Ran will have a panty flash moment, so it's not all bad; but if it were Sera's, it would be nothing but pain, so please give me a break.
Q125: I want to see both Haibara and Shuichi get back to their normal life.
A: Yeah.(I want, too.) Just stay tuned!
Q126: I love Ai-chan very much, is it real that Ai-chan cannot get be happy? I want to see her smile from now on.

Q127: I want to see a raburabu moment between Conan and Ai.
A: What should I do.
Q128: Please stop trying to kill Haibara.
A: Again, what should I do ... (laughs)
Q129: Even if it's just for once, please straighten Haibara's hair.
A: Why? If I did that, you won't be able to tell her apart.
Q130: Why can Haibara sense the smell of BO from Subaru Okiya?
A: You'll get that in the manga.
Q131: Currently, what is Hondou Eisuke doing in America?
A: Isn't he working hard to get his green card so he can join the CIA?
Q132: Why don't you draw Ran's school swimsuit?
A: Just once is enough, I really want to draw it.

A: She likes Shinichi. You're not surprised, are you.
Q134: Please add more scenes with Ran in the shower/bath.
A: Perv.
Q135: Ran has gradually noticed Conan's identity, hasn't she?
A: How should I put it? Please continue reading and experiencing it.
Q136: Does the Mouri Detective Agency not allow pets? There could be a heartwarming story about Ran and a stray puppy ...
A: They already have Goro. Well, Taii is in Cafe Poirot, so maybe that's not such a good idea.
Q137: Do Shinichi and Ran had other friends than Sonoko?
A: There's that girl from the convenience store. I wonder if there are others?

A: There has been one in a movie.
Q142: How old were Shinichi and Ran when they first met?
A: They were in primary school I think.
Q143: How is Ran's deduction skills?
A: The level of ordinary people.

A: Eh? You've already decided?
Q145: Who taught Ran how to cook? If that is the case, who did that person learn from?
A: Isn't she self-taught? Her mom is terrible at cooking.
Q146: Is there a city where you would like to have a case in?
A: Kawanakajima? I want to try drawing a murder case set there. I once thought of going there to gather relevant information.
Q147: Is the "Blue Parrot" in volume 81 the same "Blue Parrot" as in Magic Kaito volume 2?
A: It's the same.
Q148： With what feeling do you want to have to end DC?
A: In a good feeling.
Q149: Will there be a story at a karate tournament that Kyogoku-san and Ran participated in?
A: I have thought about drawing a karate tournament.
Q150: Currently, how much has DC been covered?
A: How can I say that... Maybe just a half, maybe close to the end. It depends on your imagination!
SDB 70+ Message
Translated by: Manvel
Hello, Aoyama here!
Once it starts coming out, it never stops—70+!! (Laugh)
What first comes to mind from the 70+ is the “Shiragami-sama Legend Murder Case”!
To tell the truth, even in the artwork, I thought I was drawing the real Shinichi to look cool,
and the imposter to look a bit shady… (that was my intention (Laugh))
but… could you tell?
Next is the “Ōfuku Family Murder Case”! I wanted readers to think of The Inugami Clan by Yokomizo Seishi, or Holmes’ The Hound of the Baskervilles, but it was actually The Hakkenden! (Laugh) There were so, so many characters, and the character designs alone took me an entire day to finish— I remember thinking, “I’m already out of face pattern ideas~~” (Laugh).
But honestly, what was even harder was the “Red Wall Murder Case”!!!
This one also had many characters, but more than that—
Detective Koumei from the local precinct!
I thought, “Wouldn’t it be cool if I had him constantly quote sayings of famous Chinese figures?”
That part was fine, but…
finding quotations that fit each scene just right was super~~ tough!!
Well, thanks to that, he ended up feeling very Koumei-like, so all’s well that ends well♪
There are also many other recommended stories—
Kid’s teleportation, Ran’s fortune slip, Inspector Shiratori’s cherry blossom case, and so on…
But as far as setting recommendation, it has to be the open-air bath on the lake. ♥
The model for it is Hawai Onsen’s “Bokoro” in Tottori Prefecture...
it looks exactly the same, so if you like hot springs, how about going there once?
…Of course, please refrain from killing anyone in the bath… (Laugh)

A: By buying Conan in the inside (laugh)

Q35: Is Amuro-san popular with the girls in his job at Poirot?
A: Of course he is! (laughs)
Q36: Amuro went and sacrificed his own car (the RX-7) to save Conan, but being that crash should've wrecked it. Did he buy the car he drives after that secondhand?

A: He's tone deaf (laughs)
Q43: Who would win in a match between Kyogoku, Subaru, and Amuro? Do you have plans for a match between them?
A: Probably not all three of them at once, but I really want to have a showdown between any two of them!
Q44: Kyogoku-san is really happy compared to how he used to be in the past. Is it because he found love?
A: Of course!
Q45: Thank you for doing so many stories in Gunma prefecture. There's more than just mountains here, so how about doing a case set at the Tomioka Silk Mill, a world heritage site.
A: Would it really be a good idea to have a case occurring there?

Q48: Will you draw a story explaining why Takagi wanted to become a police officer?
A: Do you want me to draw it? (laugh)

A: I guess he probably thinks he's a bright young boy, but probably doesn't suspect him even the tinyest bit.

Q51: Who is the Organization's boss? You can just say a hint.
A: Hint: It's not Agasa!
Q52: Could you draw a showdown between the original Kaito Kid, Toichi Kuroba, and Yusaku Kudo?

A: Sato, because she's the White Witch (laugh)
Q54: What good thing has happened to you recently?
A: Bismarck came out~!! I’m super happy!!
(It’s about KanColle.)
Q55:Please give the series a happy end, with Shuichi Akai and Jodie getting back together, and draw what happens after they do (For example, with Akai's cooking skills, he'd be an elite FBI Agent by day, but when he comes home, he's actually a family man who's better at housekeeping than Jodie, maybe?).
A: That would be interesting! (laughs)
Q56: Will there be Shinichi and Ran's wedding at the end of the manga?
A: What's going to happen? Look forward to it (laugh)
Q57: Gin's not going to really turn out to be a good guy, is he?
A: No way! (roars with laughter)
Q58: What do you think of the 'wall slam' technique that's popular in Shoujo manga lately? I'd like it if you did a 'wall slam' scene in Detective Conan.
[Note: A 'wall slam' (kabe don) is a situation 1) where a boy corners a girl by slamming his hand against a wall with his body over her, trapping her, usually in a romance scene; or 2) when someone gets so angry out of frustration that they want to punch a wall]
A: I've drawn Ran doing a 'telephone pole slam' on Shinichi before, actually...
Q59: I like black-skinned people. I really want Hattōri Heiji, Kyōgoku Makoto, and Amuro Tōru to appear together in the manga. If applying the tone is troublesome, you could just make two of them appear at the same time. Please, Aoyama-sensei!
A: Now, with computer painting, applying the tone is easy; but drawing them is bothersome, so… (laugh)
Q60: What do you think will happen to Shinichi and Ran after graduating high-school?
A: That's something you're going to have to wait and see! (laughs)
Q61: Dr. Araide hardly shows up at all, give him some appearances!
A: Oh, I forgot about him! Sorry! (laughs)
Q62: Are Sera-san and Haibara cousins?
A: Stop asking in a roundabout way, I'm not going to get tricked! (laughs)
Q63: Is Sera-san going to be a key person in the conclusion? Also, will she ever become more feminine? (laughs)
A: Her mother has huge boobs... So I think she'll have a nice body in the end! (laughs)
Q64: I want to see a collaboration between Sera-chan and Hakuba-kun!
A: You do? How come? (laughs)
Q65: Were you the one to chose Noriko Hidaka as the voice actor for Sera, or is it a member of the production company who chose her?
A: I chose her, because I like her!
Q66: Does Sera-chan never show two doubled-teeth at once?
A: Do you want her to?
Q67: Does Sera know about the Black Org?
A: She doesn't know.
Q68: Does Sera have a boyfriend?
A: No! But there is someone... (laugh)
Q69: Please tell me if there is anything surprising about Akai, Amuro, and Sera! (Q42 and Q69 are related.)
A: They're all tone deaf, or something (laughs)
[Note: Later on in the thread, someone clarifies that the original says オンチ in both cases, which in that context can mean anything from being tone deaf, or completely hopeless with directions. Gosho never used kanji to write that word, so it could mean that they're all horrible at something.]
Q70: Does Akai-san have a gun he really likes? He’s always using the one he stole from a Black Org member… When he shot Gin with a rifle, what kind of rifle was it?
A: I should ask my assistant Yamagishi.
Q71: Akai-san has repeated that he would "give his life to protect someone". Is it a foreshadowing for his death?
A: Stay tuned!
Q72: Before Akai came to Japan in Volume 29, did he investigate or solve any cases as an FBI agent in America? I'm curious about what happened during the two years Akai was in America after he left the BO.
A: He investigated normal cases and also cases involving the BO. As for why/how Akai became an FBI agent, I can't tell you right now. (laughs)
Q73: Does Akai-san like kids?
A: He has come to like them (laugh)

Q75: Does Shuichi Akai have back pain?
A: Why? (laughs)
Q76: If you went on a date with Shuichi Akai, where do you think he'd take you?
A: He'd probably keep driving for the whole thing.
Q77: What types of girls do Shuichi Akai and Tooru Amuro like?
A: Akai likes those he can spend time with even when he isn’t saying a thing. Amuro would like someone who'd be fine with him talking on and on... I guess.
Q78: I want a real Subaru Okiya to appear, one that isn't Shuichi Akai in disguise, Yusaku Kudo in disguise, or anyone at all in disguise. Is that an impossible request?
A: I guess it is...
Q79: Is Akai Okiya?
A: Sorry, please go read the manga.

A: Will he? (laugh)
Q81: How much money does the BO make annually? Is it more than what you make?

A: I decided for Subaru's RX-7 and 360, but it's Yamagishi who decided for the other cars.
Q85: I want to see Heiji Hattori vs Kaito Kid!!
A : You want it~?
Q86: If you put the first kanji of Heiji's and Kazuha's name together, it makes the word "peace" (和平). Did you do it on purpose?
A: I didn't do it on purpose, but I like it!
Q87: While solving all the problems in Conan, will the mystery on Kaito's father getting killed get solved in the mean time as well?
A: They won't be solved at the same time! Moreover, he didn't get killed!
Q88: Eisuke Hondo hasn't reappeared yet?
A: Not for the moment, but he's going to be interesting!
Q89: Why are there red bricks on the covers of the volumes?
A: The design department decided it.
Q90: In Detective Conan, who is like Aoyama-sensei?
A: Kogoro Mori.
Q91: Is Ran better in karate than she was before?
A: If there was karate at the Olympics, she would get the Gold Medal (laugh)
Q92: I hope women characters are going to give kicks in the crotch of other characters!

Q97: Please make Ran cuter! The manga series needs more Ran!
A: I've got a lot of Ran stuff I should draw someday soon. (laughs)
Q98: I want to see Ran wearing a kimono in the manga.
A: It's really complicated to draw, except when I draw it with colors (laugh)
Q99: Tell me how I could look like Ran!
A: You would have to do a horn in your hair. So you should just drop it (laugh)
Q100: My friend told me that the Boss is Shinichi!
A: Please tell your friend: Well done, it's false.
Q101: Everyday I'm unhappy. How could I be happy?
A: Don't think that being rich means being happy (laugh)
Q102: Hello, Aoyama-sensei! My name is Ken because my father is a fan of Hokuto no Ken. I really like Detective Conan so I want to name to name my child after Conan, but Conan is written in Japanese, and my name in Chinese. I don't know what to choose.
A: Choose what you prefer (laugh)

A: I want the criminal to be the less suspicious than possible.
Q104: Who are your favorite characters?
A: I like them all.

A: I've been interested in them ever since I read the Sherlock Holmes story 'The Dancing Men' in my primary school library.

A: Once, in January.
Q114: Well done Sensei, for the Tottori Conan Airport!

Q116: Who is your favorite producer currently?

Hello, Aoyama here!
Thanks for waiting — 80+ is finally here!! (Laugh)
What I most want to talk about from the 80+ is, of course, the huge case collected in Volumes 71–72: “I confessed right in front of Big Ben… I really messed up, Shinichi!!” The truth is, I came up with this episode 18 years ago, while I was watching the Wimbledon match between Steffi Graf and Kimiko Date live on TV. Late in the second set, when Graf was getting pushed back, a fan in the stands suddenly shouted, “Hey Steffi~~! Marry me~~~ ♥” And Graf replied: “How much money do you have~~?” Naturally, the entire stadium burst out laughing! And so I thought, “Wow, the idea of a player talking back to the crowd in the middle of a match is hilarious! Someday, I’m going to have Conan do the same thing — in a huge London case!!” …That’s what went through my head (Laugh).
After that, we have the appearances of Sera-chan and Amuro,
and including the two of them, the all-star cast of the
“Bell Tree Express Murder Case”!!!
The first time I ever saw the original, Murder on the Orient Express, was on a rental video.
I rented it late at night, brought it home, and watched it all fired up, thinking,
“I’m gonna solve it before Poirot does~~~!!”
But… I couldn’t figure out the culprit at all.
Just before Poirot gathers all the passengers for the big reveal,
I stopped the tape, rewound, and spent about three hours thinking and thinking,
yet I couldn’t solve a thing…
So I gave up and played the video again —
and then:
“EVERYONE is the culprit!?!? That’s insane——!!
Poirot is sooo cool~~!!
Someday I wanna make an all-star mystery like this~~~!!”
…That was back when I had just entered university.
So this episode is something I’d been warming up for 30 years! (Laugh)
Oh, and the beloved Miike Naeko policewoman —
who made CV Chiba Isshin (voice of Detective Chiba) so happy — appears here too,
but the story of those two will be in another volume… (Laugh)

SDB 90+ Message
Translated by: Manvel
Hello, Aoyama here!
Plus… it’s finally arrived. 90+!! (Laugh)
There are so—so many things I want to talk about in the 90+, I don’t even know where to start… First would be “The Scarlet Return,” when Akai came back to life, I suppose?
Originally, I planned to reveal the trick 2–3 years after making it look like he died,
but I never expected it would end up taking 7 years…
Well, Holmes also fell at Reichenbach Falls in “The Final Problem”
and didn’t return until “The Empty House”—
which took 9 years and 10 months,
so it’s fine, right? (Laugh)
By the way, Raiha Pass, where Akai got shot,
is actually a pun on Reichenbach♪
Next is “Ran GIRL” and “Shin-BOY”!!
The truth is, while I was hospitalized, I started feeling a bit weak-hearted and thought,
“At least this story… I need to leave behind in this world,”
so I drew the name (storyboards) with a life-or-death determination (Laugh).
It turned into a real gem!
Well, now I’m super energetic, so no worries (Laugh).
And then, for the 20th anniversary of the series, I drew the Aquarium Date Case.♥
Since it was a special occasion, I wanted Shinichi, just like the original Holmes,
to deduce things about Ran one after another with pinpoint accuracy—
and I was super satisfied to draw that scene♪
After all, a detective needs to read someone so thoroughly it makes them angry… right? (Laugh)
After that, there’s the “Hattori Screwed Up on Trick Bridge Case,”
Kid vs. Kyogoku’s Airborne Showdown,
the “Kawanakajima Serial Murder Case”,
Yumi & Shuukichi’s Marriage Registration Investigation Line,
and “Did Akai and Amuro Kill Scotch!?” Case,
and so on and so on…
There’s absolutely no way I can write about everything (laugh).
Well then, let’s meet again in the 100+♪

A: I think that Akemi didn’t notice.
Q81: What is Amuro’s blood group?

A: I can’t answer that.
Q92: Is RUM certainly amongst the trio of Kuroda, Wakasa and Wakita?
A: It is, indeed!
Q93: The “screwing up” that RUM did during the Haneda Kouji case, was it a major mistake? If that was the case, why wasn’t RUM killed (as punishment)?

Q128: I like Curacao a lot! Is there a possibility of her appearing in the manga such as in a flashback?
A: There might not be… You want her to appear?
Q129: The PSB of the MPD (especially Kazami). How much do they know about the Black Organization?
A: All that Furuya has told them… Right?
Q130: Please tell me which Black Organization member is your favorite, Aoyama-sensei.
A: I like all of them.
Q131: Rather than a question it’s more like of a wish, but I’d personally like to see a spinoff like “Zero’s Teatime”, a “Black Teatime”. (laughs)
A: “The title (would) be “Black Cocktail Time”, yes?
Q132: I feel like (wishing) for the Black Organization to be destroyed soon and for the truth to come out. But then “Detective Conan” would end and I don’t want it to end. It’s 50/50. What can I do about it?
A:Please don’t worry. (laughs)

Hello, Aoyama here!
I never thought this would actually come out — BLACK!! (Laugh)
Since this book is about the Black Organization, there are all sorts of things I want to talk about,
but there are so many things I’m not allowed to reveal that… I really can’t say much (laugh).
For now, let me talk about their names… When I decided that the code names would all be based on alcoholic drinks,
the very first character who got a name — surprisingly enough — was Vodka!! (Laugh)
While I was drawing, I muttered to myself, “This guy really feels like a Vodka…” and then Yamada-kun, the assistant standing next to me, said: “Then, why don’t we make this guy ‘Gin’?” So I replied, “Okay, let’s go with that,” and that’s how Gin got his name…
Then, some time later when the black-clad woman appeared, Tani-kun, another assistant, said: “Let’s make her code name Vermouth!’’ So again I said, “Okay, let’s go with that!” —And thus, the names were decided in a very casual, sloppy way (Laugh).
Speaking of the Black Organization… After I watched the test screening of “The Raven Chaser,” I ended up in an elevator with a pair of fans — a mother and her young son. Suddenly, the boy declared to his mom: “When I grow up, I’m going to join the Black Organization!!”
I thought, “Whoa, whoa, whoa…” So in order to show that Conan also has many strong and cool allies, I decided to revive Shuichi Akai in a stylish way, and to have Tōru Amuro infiltrate the Organization as a Public Security Bureau (even though he was originally planned to be a villain (Laugh)).
So in a way, the reason these two are so active today…
might actually be thanks to that boy in the elevator (Laugh).

Hello, Aoyama here!
So it really came out after all — LOVE+ ♥
There are mountains of things I’d like to talk about when it comes to romantic-comedy stories,
but the episodes that were actually based on real events are surprisingly few.
One of them is Heiji and Kazuha getting handcuffed together,
and ending up having to go to the bath and toilet together —
the “stinky closeness incident” ♥!
The truth is, it was inspired by something told to me by my assistant’s wife.
Her father is a high-ranking police officer, and she said:
“When I was little, my two younger sisters were playing with my dad’s handcuffs that were at home,
and they got stuck, and we had to go to the bath and toilet together — it was a huge ordeal.”
Using that story as a hint, I created the episode!
Later, the two sisters found out they had been used as manga material,
and according to my assistant’s wife, they got angry and said:
“We’d rather be handcuffed to a cool guy like this!!” (Laugh)
By the way, the name ‘Kazuha’ was something I borrowed from that assistant’s wife♪
Also, among the couples that appear in my manga,
the most unexpected one is probably
Okita Soshi and Moroha Kurogane (Yaiba younger sister), right…
Actually, I once thought:
“Conan’s serialization will probably end quickly anyway,
so maybe I should start planning a continuation of Yaiba.”
And one of the story ideas I had was
a Romantic Comedy between Okita and Moroha ♥
Being able to hint at that a little inside Conan
left me super satisfied~~♪

Translated by: Manaphy
Q1: Can you still not answer about Furuya-san’s officiial position at the moment?
A: With the scriptwriter Sakurai-san, we decided that “Inspector was good, right?” (laughs)
Q2: Did Furuya-san ever work in a police box?
A: He did, didn’t he.
Q3: Judging from a lot of people in the PSB, I feel like Furuya Rei is called “the young boss”,
but were there oppositions when he originally took up the post?
A: There were, weren’t there.
Q4: On the Mystery Train, he (Amuro) said to Miyano Shiho that “My comrades who are
tracking us have made arrangements in order to retrieve you”, but were those comrades
from PSB? If that’s the case, I’m curious about how he planned to deceive Vermouth...!
A: Those were comrades from the Black Organization, so there was no need to deceive
them.
Q5: When Furuya-san met Taka’aki-san with Hiromitsu, it somehow looked like he had a
surly face, was he nervous...? Also, I’m curious about what the three of them talked about.
A: In fact, he was nervous and excited. Therefore, I don’t think he remembers what they
talked about (laughs)
Q6: It’s about when James Black told Conan-kun “I’d almost want to scout him for the
Bureau”, Does Furuya-san also harbour such feelings towards Conan-kun, that he wants to
make him a colleague in the future?
A: He does, right?
Q7: I’d like to see a story about when Akai-san and Furuya-san entered the Black
Organization for the first time, or about their first job.
A: I’d like to see that too (laughs)
Q8: I think that Furuya-san doesn’t eat or drink what people offer him because of the nature
of his job, but did he drink the black tea that Yukiko-san served him when he infiltrated the
Kudo house after all? What did he choose between lemon and milk?
A: I think he drank it after all. Lemon, I guess. By the way, Akai, who’s a Briton, chose milk tea.
Q9: If Furuya-san were to drive that RX-7 around the street racers’ sacred places*, what kind
of nickname would he be given?
A: The Federal White Devil (laughs)
(* Designs mountain roads with few sharp curves.)
Q10: Kuroda Hyoue-san is... an enemy... right? Of the bad guys...
A: He is (laughs)
Q11: During the Nagano Snowy Mountain Case, Superintendent Kuroda used on purpose
Inspector Yamato’s smartphone as an intermediary to contact Inspector Morofushi, but why
didn’t he call him directly?
A: Because Taka’aki just happened to change his smartphone to a new model (to tell the
truth though, it’s because I wanted to show him being impatient (laughs) )
Q12: Superintendent Kuroda went camping by himself, but he had a lot of equipment, does
he have an outdoor hobby? In what way does he spend time on his days off?
A: He might unexpectedly like fishing. He looks like he likes waiting.
Q13: I really love the times when Inspector Megure lets the culprit have it, will you draw
more of that?
A: I’d like to.
Q14: Is Inspector Megure’s hat a present from Midori-san?
A: Eh? Why?
Q15: It’s about the brilliant detective Sato who has sharp instincts, won’t she get promoted to Inspector?
A: After some time, she will, I guess.
Q16: With who (where?) did Sato-san learn her driving technique?
A: Self-instruction (Actually, she’d be a good match for Amuro if they raced).
Q17: It seemed Sato-san was looking at the Police Academy photo that was in Date-san’s
locker, but if she happens to get involved with Furuya-san from now on, will this become a
clue to something...?
A: She doesn’t take a long look at other people’s pictures, right?
Q18: In Volume 68, detective Takagi said “Next time, please give me a bento as well...”, is
detective Sato good at cooking?
A: I think she is? (laughs)
Q19: Before I realized it, she (Sato) started dating Takagi-kun, but which side confessed
first?
A: Well, Takagi of course!
Q20: Inside Takagi’s notebook, Furuya-san, Akai-san, and Vermouth’s handwriting have
been left, right. Will this be related to an upcoming development?
A: It’ll surely become rare and valuable later (right)
Q21: Miike-san said that detective Takagi was popular in the Traffic Department, but don’t
you have any plans to show a policewoman from that department who’s a rival for detective
Sato?
A: Even if I showed one, she wouldn’t be able to win against Detective Sato, right?
Q22: When he (Takagi) is alone with detective Sato, she calls him “Wataru”, but I wonder
how Takagi-kun calls her?
A: He’s good at getting mocked, so he always called her Sato-san.
Q23: I’m warmly watching over detective Chiba, who’s steadily getting plumper, but what is
his favorite food?
A: Ramen, pizzas, hamburgers.
Q24: I’m curious about what kind of date detective Chiba and Naeko-chan are doing.
A: “Let’s go eat __ in __!”, along those lines?
Q25: Will the new detective with hay fever that detective Chiba mentioned in the
Policewoman serial murder case appear later?
A: You want them to? (laughs)
Q26: Did inspector Shiratori ever get scouted by the PSB?
A: Eh? Why?
Q27: I’d like to see inspector Shiratori and his colleague, inspector Ayanokouji, confront or
help each other on an investigation.
A: Ooh, indeed (laughs)
Q28: Where was Shiratori-san and Kobayashi-sensei’s first date?
A: Somewhere where Kobayashi-sensei would feel bored (laughs)
Q29: When detective Matsuda was assigned to the 1st division, he didn’t meet Date-san?
A: That’s still a secret for now.
Q30: I want to see the 7 days when detective Matsuda was part of the 1st division!
A: T-That’s also a secret for now.
Q31: During which period did detective Matsuda start smoking, and what triggered him to?
A: Surprisingly, maybe since the moment of his birthday at midnight.
Q32: Could you please tell me the cigarette brand that Matsuda is smoking, if you have fixed
it!
A: The brand I picture in my mind is Mild Seven (Mevius).
Q33: What’s Matsuda-san’s reason for wearing sunglasses?
A: He’s showing off, so.
Q34: Will you reveal later the “promise he couldn’t keep” with Hagiwara-san?
A: It was about avenging his death.
Q35: I wonder why Hiromitsu’s smartphone ended up being left in Date-san’s locker.
A: Because Date had that car accident just as he thought about sending it.
Q36: What is Date-san’s favorite among Natalie-san’s homemade foods?
A: He looks like he’d love quiches.
Q37: Are Superintendent Chaki and Superintendent Matsumoto doing well? I mean... I was
thinking that we haven’t seen them for a long time (laughs)
A: They’re doing great!
Q38: When there aren’t any advance notices from Kaito Kid, what does Inspector Nakamori
do?
A: He’s in the 2nd division, so he has a mountain of work (laughs)
Q39: I’d like to see inspector Nakamori and the first Kaito Kid’s encounter! I wonder what
was their first contact, his first impression of Kaito Kid.
A: A pompous guy that he can’t let do as he pleases.
Q40: Why did Yumi-san think about becoming a police officer?
A: Miwako said she’d become one, so she said “Me too”.
Q41: I’d like to know what event led to Miwako and Yumi to become close friends!
A: They might’ve been on bad terms like Amuro and Matsuda at first, you know?
Q42: In Yumi-san’s memories in the “Trembling Police Headquarters”, Matsuda-kun was
looking at a fuming mini patrol car. Did Matsuda-kun repair that car as expected?
A: Well, of course he did. It was a piece of cake.
Q43: Sato-san has a fanclub, but does Yumi-san also have something like that?
A: Sadly, she doesn’t.
Q44: What side of Chuukichi does Yumi-san love? ♡
A: His sleeping face ♡
Q45: Did Naeko-chan take the police officer employment examination in order to meet
detective Chiba?
A: It’s probably a coincidence.
Q46: In the anime, Yumi-san succeeded at doing the German Suplex that detective Sato
taught her, but will Naeko-chan also be able to do it later...?!
A: She won’t. That’s only Yumi.
Q47: Did she (Naeko) ever report about her dates with detective Chiba to the other
policewomen? I wonder how they reacted?
A: “He’d look handsome if he lost weight, though. Do your best”, along these lines?
Q48: It’s about the slightly unreliable-looking Kazami-san, for what reason was he chosen as
the role for contacting Furuya-san?
A: Just like that?
Q49: In the FILE 1051, concerning the fact that Kazami-san ended up calling Amuro-san by
his real name, Furuya-san, in front of the Detective Boys, did he get scolded by Furuya-san?
A: He was later, indirectly but persistently, ad nauseam (laughs)
Q50: Agent Camel and detective Kazami are in a similar position. Will the two of them ever
meet? I have the feeling that they might get along after drinking alcohol together...
A: They both think that their chief is the best, so I don’t think they’d get along.
Q51: Is Kazami-san taller than Furuya-san?
A: In the anime, he’s established as tall, but I made him normal in the manga.
Q52: I’m curious about Kazami-san’s romantic situation...! Is there someone he might have
romantic feelings for?
A: Eeeh?!
Q53: Why did Hiromitsu join the PSB? Did he himself aspire to join it?
A: He put trust in his talent.
Q54: Whether it’s Kazami, Morofushi, or the PSB, I wondered if they worked together
between senior and junior officers.
A: They might have.
Q55: 4 years ago, Hiromitsu was holding a rifle at a station’s platform, was he a sniper? I
wonder if he received a codename because his shooting skills were valued?
A: He was a sniper. Although he falls behind Akai.
Q56: Why did Hiromitsu get exposed as a PSB officer to the organization?
A: Ah, that?
Q57: I wonder what happened to Hiromitsu’s corpse...
A: Well, you see...
Q58: Please tell me one heartwarming story about the Morofushi brothers’ childhood days!
A: As Hiromitsu was dawdling rolled under the kotatsu, Taka’aki told him “do your best”
(laughs)
Q59: I want you to tell us inspector Yuminaga’s first name!
A: I took his surname from the “Zhang” character in “Zhang Fei”, so... (Like “Tobio”?
(laughs))
Q60: Do you have any reminiscent stories of the times when Kogoro was Yuminaga-san’s
subordinate? Also, don’t you have any plans to draw him in the future?
A: Kogoro was scolded countless times because he trampled down an arson scene.
Q61: I want to see a story of when Morofushi Taka’aki was sent over a jurisdiction!
A: Y-Yeah.
Q62: Taka’aki-san gives the impression that he can do anything, but is there something that he isn’t good with?
A: He has thought several times that Kuroda’s face is “a bit scary...” (laughs)
Q63: At the Police Academy, which one between Taka’aki and Kan-chan served as the representative?
A: If they served as the representative, maybe Taka’aki...?
Q64: I wonder what was Morofushi Taka’aki and Yamato Kansuke’s first showdown?
A: You mean, like a hide-and-seek when they were in grade school? (laughs)
Q65: About the case where inspector Yamato was dragged in an avalanche in the past, I’d
like to read it in the manga!
A: Eeeeh... You want to see it... (trembling voice)
Q66: He (Yamato) found out that the one controlling Sleeping Kogoro was Conan, but did he
also get an inkling of his true identity...?
A: They do think he’s an amazing kid, but they haven’t realized who he really is.
Q67: Will there be any progress from now on between inspector Yamato Kansuke and
detective Uehara Yui? I want to see the conclusion of adult romance so much that I’m
growing impatient! laughs
A: Look forward to it ♡
Q68: Is Yui-san’s rank Assistant Inspector?
A: It is, I guess.
Q69: Why is it that when even Kansuke wasn’t aware of the existence of Taka’aki’s little
brother, Yui-san was aware of it?
A: It’s not that he wasn’t aware, rather he just forgot about it.
Q70: I feel like there’s a lot of “red” in the cases related to the Nagano Prefectural Police, is
that some kind of foreshadowing?
A: ...No, just a coincidence.
Q71: Did Hattori Heizo take up the post of superintendent general because he had career
ambitions from the beginning? He possesses better deduction skills than Heiji, and
sometimes shows up at crime scenes, could it be that he actually wants to be there?
A: I guess he’s rather the type that was chosen as superintendent general, despite wanting
to be at crime scenes, I don’t know though (laughs)
Q72: Does Heizo want his son to become a police officer in the future? Or could it be that,
on the contrary, he doesn’t want his son to become one because it’s a dangerous profession?
A: There’s no mistake in saying he thinks Heiji should just do as he pleases.
Q73: In the “Tiger Scroll Case” in Volume 31, he (Heizo) was giving a ride back to Ginshiro,
could it be that the Hattori and Tooyama families both go back to long ago?
A: They do, don’t they?
Q74: Ginshiro said it along with a joke, but was he serious that if he had to give Kazuha, it’d
be to Heiji?
A: Perhaps.
Q75: I want to see a story where the Heizo and Ginshiro pair play an active part!
A: You want to see, huh.
Q76: When did inspector Otaki get this scar on his right eyebrow?
A: It’s a scar from just after he became a detective.
Q77: Won’t you draw a story where Otaki-han gets a girl?
A: You want to read one?
Q78: I wonder what kind of child was inspector Ayanokouji during his childhood. I want to
know about various things about his private life, like his first love!
A: I don’t think much has changed compared to now.
Q79: I want to know about his first encounter with his chipmunk!
A: Their eyes met in a pet shop.
Q80: What’s the name of inspector Ayanokouji’s chipmunk pet?
A: Imagine if it was Maro (laughs)
Q81: Why is it that the prefectures to which the Yokomizo brothers are affiliated differ?
A: ...Right?
Q82: I want to know how old the Yokomizo brothers are.
A: Around 35, I guess. Since he’s San-Go* (laughs)
(“Sango” = “coral” = Yokomizo’s first name, but “San-Go” = “three-five” = “3-5”).
Q83: When Sango meets Kogoro, is he always calling Juugo about that? laughs
A: Why?
Q84: Misao-chan changed from a quack detective to an inspector, but did it ever happen that
he solved a case alone?
A: Never happened! (Definitely)
Q85: Inspector Yamamura managed to climb the ladder thanks to Conan (?), despite being
such a quack detective, but don’t the people around him regard him like “how can such a
guy be...” ?
A: They think he’s a man that can do the right stuff when push comes to shove (laughs).
Q86: Could it be that inspector Yamamura found out Conan-kun’s identity~♡
A: It can’t be that he found out.
Q87: Will inspector Yamamura have interactions with Wakasa-sensei from now on?
A: You want them to interact? (laughs)
Q88: I wonder why Akai decided to enter the FBI, and not the MI6 to which his parents are
affiliated?
A: Because his father went missing in America.
Q89: What kind of professional duties or experience did Akai Shuichi pile up during the 3
years before becoming a FBI agent?
A: Accompanying at the accordion in a bar, stuff like that.
Q90: I wonder where did he (Akai) refine his shooting skills?
A: In the FBI, right?
Q91: I want to know a story about Akai-san’s rookie days! (The people around him look like
they’d also realize some surprising feats...)
A: He looks arrogant despite being a rookie, but I guess he contributed enough so people
would come to terms with that.
Q92: I can’t picture it, but since Akai-san is also a member of the organization called FBI, is
he properly doing deskwork?
A: I think he is. Although he’s arrogant.
Q93: Who’s the person inside the FBI that Akai-san can trust the most?
A: I think he trusts everyone.
Q94: Is he also called “Shuu” by some of his colleagues other than Jodie-sensei?
A: He isn’t.
Q95: When Camel slightly messes up during critical moments, what does Akai-san think
about it? (His emotions don’t really show up on his face, after all...)
A: I think that, more than the failure, he ponders on the recovery that comes later.
Q96: Even though Akai knew that Amuro Tooru = Bourbon / A member of the organization,
why didn’t he immediately tell Conan?
A: Tell him that, I mean, did they meet?
Q97: About Amuro-san’s real name, he said “It was easy to look up”, but how did he look it
up?
A: Well, I mean...
Q98: Was Akai-san cool since his childhood days?
A: That’s right.
Q99: Like with the Police Academy Arc (WPS), I’d like to learn about Akai Shuichi’s days at
the FBI Academy. If you could write a spinoff about that, I’d be very happy...
A: No, that’s a bit...
Q100: I feel like the scenes where Akai-san is smoking have decreased, is he abstaining?
Or is he perhaps taking the Detective Boys and the Kudo couple into consideration?
A: He’s taking puffs behind their backs, isn’t he?
Q101: When he listens to his brother’s boastful talk about Yumi-tan, how does Akai-san feel?
Is he listening seriously?
A: Half of him is thinking about something else (laughs)
Q102: Is James and Conan’s first encounter a coincidence?
A: It is, isn’t it?
Q103: Is he (James) carefully holding on to the Paul and Annie straps he gathered?
A: He is, right?
Q104: Does James-san have a wife and a kid?
A: Who knows?
Q105: I had a feeling that James-san knew about Sera Masumi, but does he have some
connection to the Akai family since long ago? Or is it that, before the incident at Raiha Pass,
he took up a request from Akai-san to look after his family or something?
A: Long ago, Sera-chan came to visit the FBI, that’s when he saw her.
Q106: There’s a portrayal of Jodie-san saying that shooting is her specialty, but did Akai-san,
her ex-boyfriend, teach her?
A: I mean, wasn’t she trained at the FBI?
Q107: Please tell me whether Jodie-san’s glasses are glasses for show, or if she has a
prescription!
A: For show.
Q108: I want to read the story where Jodie-sensei herself got hold of “something very warm
that gives her courage”!
A: I want to read it too (laughs)
Q109: When she and Akai decided to go out together, I wonder who confessed?
A: It’d look like Jodie would’ve, yeah.
Q110: How much Jodie-sensei, who loves games, is good at them? If it was a game, would
she win against Akai?
A: If it was a game, she’d win against anybody, right?
Q111: From who did Camel-san receive his wonderful driving technique? Or is it
self-instruction?
A: It’s self-instruction.
Q112: The fact that Camel-san let his short hair grow up, was because he admired Akai-san?
A: Possibly.
Q113: I love Agent Camel very much! Please tell me something Agent Camel isn’t good with!
A: Celery (laughs)
Q114: I wonder since when did Camel-san have a tough look? Was he cute when he was a child?
A: It always was like that. Although he himself doesn’t think that he has a tough look.
Q115: I want to know the type of girl Agent Camel likes!
A: Someone gentle who isn’t afraid of him.
Q116: I love the police officers in uniforms that you draw, Aoyama-sensei! Please draw more
and more police officers in uniforms!
A: The police officers in uniforms I drew are barely Yumi and Naeko, though (laughs) (the
rest are from my assistants)
Q117: I’d like to meet Takagi Chosuke-san one more time. Do you have any plans to make
him appear again?
A: It was too nostalgic that I forgot (laughs)
Chosuke: Sensei... I’m counting on you...
JUSTICE PLUS SDB Message
Translated by: Manvel
Hello, Aoyama here!
Of course this one was going to come out — JUSTICE!! (Laugh)
When you think of the police and the FBI, well…
it’s gotta be rom-com, right? (Laugh)
…That said, Rom-Com involving the FBI is almost nonexistent
(there is romance, but still…).
Police romance, on the other hand, is absolutely overflowing♡
Starting with Takagi & Sato, then Yumi & Shuukichi,
Shiratori & Kobayashi-sensei,
Chiba & Naeko,
Megure & Midori,
Amuro & Azusa? (Laugh), etc…
Among them, the only pair doing rom-com outside Tokyo is Nagano Prefectural Police’s Kansuke Yamato and Yui Uehara. But the truth is — Yui was originally supposed to be the culprit! (Laugh)
However, when I chose her name—
picking "Yui," by taking a mix of the imaginary names "Koi princess" and "Yufu princess" for Takeda Shingen's most beloved wife, "Suwa Goryōnin,"
I suddenly thought:
“Somehow… I kinda want to make this girl the heroine of the case…”
So I hurriedly rewrote her dialogue
(after the assistants had gone to sleep — it took me two hours (Laugh)).
Then, when I handed the finished manuscript of the first chapter to my editor, I said, “Oh, by the way, I made this character not the culprit…” And my editor went, “EHH!?” That exchange actually happened (Laugh).
Because of that, Yui still looks suspicious all the way to the end
(well, she was originally the culprit, so of course… (Laugh)),
but personally, I think she turned out really well!
Since she became the heroine, I stuffed in lots of rom-com with Kansuke,
and when I added Koumei Morofushi, who’s also a strategist-type character,
Nagano Prefectural Police ended up becoming
a super thick and heavy police lineup… (Laugh)
Honestly, if Kuroda had stayed in the Nagano police at that time,
I feel like justice would be executed in Nagano
even without Conan… (Laugh)

RECIPE PLUS SDB Questions
Translated by: Manaphy
Q1: Shinichi (Conan) said that he likes anything Ran cooks, but what’s the thing he likesmost?
A: Curry (laughs)

A: The way he does things changed because he shrunk, so he does that unconsciously.
Q3: Does Teitan High offer lunch boxes for lunch? Does Shinichi-kun eat Ran’s lunch boxes made with love?
A: I wonder if he doesn’t buy stuff like yakisoba bread at the school cafeteria.
Q4: It looks like Shinichi-kun and Ran-chan frequently get home from school together, but do they happen to buy snacks and eat them on the way?
A: They do, don’t they? like corndogs.
Q5: When Shinichi-kun, who knows lots of alcohol brands, will become an adult, what kind of alcohol will he drink first, and with whom? If there is a cocktail that he might turn out to like, I’d like to know it.
A: I think he won’t drink gin and tonic (laughs)
Q6: In the case Ran fails a dish, will Shinichi-kun tell her frankly that it’s bad?
A: I think she probably won’t fail with the taste, so he’ll say it’s good, won’t he?
Q7: What do Yuusaku and Shinichi like in Yukiko-san’s home-made cooking?
A: Yukiko’s paella. Both Yuusaku and Shinichi love it (laughs)
Q8: Ran-chan’s meals always look tasty, but does she herself have a favorite menu which often pops on the Mouris’ dining table?
A: Curry, I guess (laughs)
Q9: Is there a dish from Eri-san that Ran-chan likes?

Q10: Which of Eri-san’s home-made dishes did Kogoro eat first? I also want to know his reaction when he did!
A: Beef stew. He threw up (LOL)
Q11: What caused Eri-san’s awful cooking? Is it because she doesn’t taste her meals or something?
A: I think she tastes them, but... I guess she’s not interested in food (laughs)
Q12: Between Ai-chan and the professor, who is in charge of meals? Or do they cook together?
A: They do cook together. Haibara holds back on the ones with lots of calories.
Q13: How did Ai-chan (Shiho-chan) become able to cook? Did she learn from her sister, or something along these lines?
A: That’s correct.
Q14: What is Ai-chan’s specialty? What kind of cuisine (Japanese, Italian etc.) does she herself like?
A: She’d probably like Japanese cuisine, the same as anyone (laughs)
Q15: Ai-chan likes school lunches, what’s her favorite menu?
A: Curry? (laughs)
Q16: Is there something Ai-chan likes among the meals that Subaru-san shares with her?
A: Curry... (Again? (laughs))
Q17: What does the professor like the most in Ai-chan’s menu?
A: Well, that’s curry, of course (laughs)

A: Ayumi-chan likes fruits, while Mitsuhiko likes pasta, I guess.
Q20: Ayumi-chan seems like she can cook curry, but is there anything else she can cook?
A: Stuff like cream stew.
Q21: The Detective Boys often make curry while camping, but is there anything they’re obsessed with in their recipe?
A: I think they probably add yakiniku sauce as a secret ingredient (laughs)
Q22: What is the first meal that Furuya-san managed to cook well?
A: Ham sandwiches.
Q23: Please tell us Amuro-san’s first specialty.
A: Ham sandwiches (laughs)
Q24: Did Amuro-san’s ham sandwich recipe also come from Hiromitsu?
A: Seems like it. The idea came from the scriptwriter Sakurai-san, though (laughs)
Q25: Aside from ham sandwiches, is there a special menu from Amuro-san that’s popular at
Poirot?
A: Omurice.
Q26: If Amuro and Okiya had a cooking showdown, how would things turn out?
A: Amuro would win by a landslide, but he’d probably pick a fight by saying “So you lost on purpose” (laughs)
Q27: When Furuya-san met Taka’aki-san, he looked stressed to the point his face became sour, but did he not speak much during lunch either? I also wonder what the three ate!
A: I think he was so stressed that he doesn’t remember what they ate (laughs)
Q28: Is Kazami-san poor at cooking? Or is it just that he’s so busy he cannot cook?
A: Rather than poor at it, I wonder if he just doesn’t. I think he takes frozen food, cup noodles or Uber Eats.
Q29: The five from the Police Academy gang often went out together in the spinoff, did they have a favorite shop? I’d like to know if there was a restaurant they usually went to!
A: I think all of them often went to the Japanese bar Nanamagari.
Q30: In Wild Police Story, I liked Furuya-san and the others’ pleasant eating scenes, so I’d like you to draw those in the main series too!!
A: I’ll think about it (laughs)
Q31: Could Matsuda-san handle alcohol well?
A: He could as much as anyone else, I guess?
Q32: During the time Matsuda-san belonged to the 1st division, did he happen to take meals with Miwako?
A: I guess he’d munch on stuff like anpans during stakeouts.
Q33: Since Matsuda-san and Hagiwara-san have nimble fingers, weren’t they good at cooking?
A: Both of them were decent, I guess.
Q34: By any chance, did Date-san’s lunches consist of Natalie-san’s lunch boxes made with love?
A: I think she treated him to her homemade cooking when she visited once in a while.
Q35: Date-san looks like he’d take Takagi-kun for a drink when the latter would achieve something or wouldn’t feel well... That’s what I thought, but what of it...?
A: Well, of course he did.
Q36: Did Hiromitsu also like celery?
A: I think Hiro had neither likes nor dislikes.
Q37: What was the first dish Hiromitsu cooked for Zero?
A: C-Curry... (cut this out (laughs))
Q38: Between noodles and pasta, which one does Hiromitsu-kun like?
A: He’s from Nagano, so he likes noodles, right? Taka’aki likes pasta, though... (laughs)
Q39: Do the Morofushi brothers have a common favorite food?
A: Shinshu noodles. But Taka’aki prefers pasta... (laughs)
Q40: What kind of pasta does inspector Taka’aki like?
A: Stuff like mushroom and pollack roe pasta.
Q41: Did Taka’aki ever happen to eat Hiromitsu’s homemade cooking?
A: They got separated when they were little, so probably not.
Q42: Cooking looks like Hiromitsu’s specialty, is it also true for Taka’aki?
A: He’d be the type to make super elaborate dishes... Like bouillabaisse.
Q43: Did Taka’aki also eat Inspector Yamato’s hangoroshi? In case he did, I want to know his impression!
A: I think he simply ate them and said they were tasty, all the while throwing in a proverb (laughs)
Q44: Is there something Inspector Yamato can cook aside from botamochi?
A: Probably not (laughs)
Q45: I wonder if Yui-san gifts handmade chocolate to Inspector Yamato every year during Valentine Day?
A: I think she does. She lies that it’s out of obligation as a colleague (laughs)

A: I think there is, just like for anyone else.
Q47: After the resolution of the Kawanakajima case, the three officers from Nagano had split opinions between pasta and noodles regarding their meal on the way home, but what did they eat in the end?
A: They forced Taka’aki to tag along for noodles (laughs)
Q48: Akai-san gives the impression of liking bitter stuff like black coffee or tobacco, is he bad with sweets?
A: I guess he is... (laughs)
Q49: Does Akai-san himself not eat much? Or could it be that he eats meat with all his might, in an American fashion?
A: He gives the impression of eating CalorieMate bars only, so I think he doesn’t eat much (laughs)

A: Sadly, he wasn’t included.

Q60: Sera-chan gives the impression of eating outside, but does she have any cooking skills?
A: I guess she doesn’t...

A: American cuisine... I think she served him stuff like grilled steak.
Q65: Everyone in the FBI tried to celebrate camel’s birthday, but do they also celebrate Akai-san’s and the other’s birthdays?
A: They do it just like anyone, but I think Akai disappears on those days so that he won’t face anyone.
Q66: Do you think about and attribute the Black Organization codenames based on the alcohol’s traits and the characters’ personalities?
A: I think about them only based on how they sound.
Q67: What about meals in the Black Organization?
A: They only eat out, I guess.
Q68: Inside the Black Organization, who can handle alcohol the best?
A: Gin, I guess. I think nobody saw him drunk, probably.
Q69: Is there someone who possesses a Black Organization codename, but in fact cannot drink alcohol?
A: Haibara is a minor, so... (laughs)
Q70: Gin gives the impression that he can survive without eating, but I wonder if he’s got a favorite food?

A: Well, she made curry of course (laughs)

A: curry, of course (laughs)
Q81: Since Kid-sama disguises as people with different body shapes, I wonder if he regularly pays attention to his own physique?

A: Takoyaki.

Q87: Is there a homemade dish from Kazuha that Heiji thinks is the most delicious?
A: Gyoza!
Q88: She doesn’t give off that impression, but is Sonoko a specialist at cooking? Aside from chocolate, is there a dish she treated Makoto-san to (or wants him to eat)?
A: She’s working hard at it, but it’s not her forte (laughs)

A: Almost all of them (laughs)
RECIPE PLUS SDB Message
Translated by: Manvel
Hello, Aoyama here!
It’s surprising that this one came out — RECIPE+!! (Laugh)
First is Ran’s lemon pie!
Using apple pie felt too ordinary, so with the simple thought of
“Since it’s a first-love-related story, let’s make it lemon,”
I decided on lemon pie…
But fans sent all sorts of reactions, like:
“Lemon pie isn’t supposed to be shaped like that, is it?”
and,
“I want to make it for my kids, so please tell me the recipe,”
and even,
“You made it a lemon pie because it originated in England, right?”
…Lots of memorable reactions like that (Laugh).
Next is Yamato Kansuke’s ‘half-killed’ botamochi!
When I was a kid, my grandma made botamochi for me a lot.
When it cooled down after some time,
she would fry both sides in a pan until lightly charred,
and eating it warm and soft like that—
I absolutely loved it♪
And last is Akai (Okiya)’s half-cooked curry!! (Laugh)
Back in university, curry was cheap and you could make tons of it,
so I cooked it often,
and when I served it to my friends, it was a huge hit♪ (Laugh)
The secret ingredient was yakiniku sauce!!
Nowadays it’s fairly common,
but back then nobody was putting it into curry,
so I might have been
the first person in Japan (or even the world!)
to put yakiniku sauce into curry… (Big Laugh).
It might not go well with very spicy curry, but if your homemade “house curry” feels like “Hm… something’s missing,” try adding some yakiniku sauce — it might give it richness and make it more delicious (Laugh).

Hello, Aoyama here!
Plus—at long last, we’ve reached 100+!!! (Laugh)
When you think of 100+, you think of: Heiji vs. Okita in the kendo showdown! Kid vs. Okiya, and Kid vs. Koumei + Heiji (Laugh) in the “see-through-the-disguise” battles! Heiji vs. Shinichi (Conan) in the deduction showdown where Heiji gets swept up by Momiji’s sweet talk! Vermouth vs. Mary in the London confrontation! Amuro vs. Wakasa-sensei in the pitch-dark battle! Wakasa-sensei vs. Inspector Yamamura in the “Urusei Yatsura showdown”? (Laugh)
…Basically, it’s packed full of showdowns!!
Among them, the ones that stand out most are the long arcs: the School Trip Arc and the Sea Monkey Island Arc!
Back when I was in high school, we didn’t have a school trip, so I never drew one— but thanks to that, I was able to use it as the perfect stage for a big romantic-comedy episode for Shinichi and Ran. In a way, maybe not drawing it until now was destiny… (Laugh)
To draw this arc, I binge-watched all kinds of school-trip scenes from dramas and anime, so by the time I finished drawing it, I felt like I had gone on a school trip too… (Laugh)
By the way, the kiss scene where Shinichi pulls Ran by the necktie—
voice actress Wakana Yamazaki praised it, saying,
“It felt like something out of a foreign movie♡,”
and I was all warm and fuzzy for a while, thinking,
“Thanks~~♪” (Laugh)
And then there’s Sea Monkey Island!
I went there to do research, in the rain—
to Sarushima, the real-life model for the island!!
Looking out at the dark, gloomy sea…
Walking through the muddy, rain-soaked ground…
Leaning on the cold, rain-dripping handrail of the pier…
What came to mind was:
“Camel… after swimming through this rough sea to finally reach this island,
he gets forced underground,
and then gets shot off this very pier, falling back into the ocean…
That’s insanely cool♪”
(Laugh)
And finally, the “Sazanami Series (Ripples Series),” where Akai’s “naked festival” happened!
When it became an anime,
Takayama-san, Yamazaki-san, and Hidaka-san
all performed with such cute voices
that I was super satisfied♪
Maybe all three of them have secretly taken APTX4869…? (Laugh)
