Meanwhile, Conan, Haibara, and the Detective Boys are walking on the road when a cat catches the attention of Haibara and Mitsuhiko. It takes them to Hakozaki’s residence where they find the dead body of Daiki Fujinai. The two also find a startled Nojima, who swears to god that he did not kill the man. As Haibara shifts Conan’s attention to [[Kogoro Mouri|the old man]], both of them see Inspector Megure and Detective Takagi. Haibara surfs the Internet to see if something is off, and learns the news of Eguchi’s secretary who went off with a bang.

Kogoro, Conan, and Ran stumble across another murder when they are hiking at the mountain trail to find the whereabouts of the unintentional celebrity. The location in which they found the body does not seem to be the murder scene since burrs are found on the victim's shirt and the caveman cosplay outfit, used by the cosplayer employees.

|summary= Minoru Fuwa stole some lethal doses of cyanide in Teitan University research lab two days ago, and he appears to have used some for his purpose before eventually getting arrested by Takagi today. He consults Kogoro and Conan for the case and now must prevent the used cyanide from being consumed by his targets. The reasons for them to believe they still have hope are because there haven't been any cases of cyanide poisoning for the recent two days, and Fuwa’s behaviours suggest he has been waiting for the poison to be consumed in a specific time.

The case also haunts Heiji as he also experienced a dream of him and Conan (in Shinichi Kudo form) suffering the same fate as the victims, so he invites the Mouris to his prefecture for a visit under the guidance of a volunteer Osaka officer Yusuke Sakata in case he and Conan will never get to meet each other, forever.
Their visit is cut short when someone falls down from the top of a building nearby right onto their car. In the people that are curious about the case, a woman takes the spotlight as she is the one terrified the most, to the point she runs away in her car when Heiji and Conan are trying to ask her for information. Fortunately, Sakata is able to find information from her thanks to Conan’s memories of her license plate, but their excitement is ruined when the woman is found dead.

|summary=In contrast to the difficulty of the case, the victims’ identities are found quite soon, which Heiji wonders how it is possible. The answer is actually their driving license found on each victim’s wallet, which gives Conan and Heiji an idea to consult the vehicle license and registration department.
