Part 1
Yoko Okino covered the Spiral Mansion on TV several days ago, which got Kogoro hyped up and now he has taken his family into the Mansion to witness the spiral arts.

Kogoro, Ran, and Conan continue their visit with the Spiral Mansion curator Kaoru Neji before the art magazine editor Kazumi Hayase arrives to have a meeting with her and several other members of the Tsurufuji family includes: Kyu's son Sensuke Tsurufuji, Sensuke's younger sister Maimai Tsurufuji, and Sensuke’s wife Yoko Tsurufuji. The meeting was meant to seal the deal about the publication of Kyu's arts, but it did not work out due to the publication fee being 300.000 yen, despite his contribution to conceptual art.
Meanwhile, the Mouris are still enjoying their visit at the mansion when they hear a scream that is followed by a gunshot. Kogoro tells Ran and Conan not to follow him, only for him to realize they did the opposite when he discovered the body of Sensuke. Still, he asks his daughter to call the police.
Later, we can see that Conan is checking the mansion guidebook for navigation. Then, he tries to count how many footsteps he needs to walk from one floor to another. He notices that the distance between the 3rd floor and the 4rd floor is 50% longer than the others, from which he deduces that there must be a half-floor space in between the two floors.

Conan then asks Sensuke’s wife for permission to check the building’s blueprint, to which she suggests he ask Neji instead. However, he finds nothing from the blueprint given by the curator, so he observes somewhere else. Only after Conan reads the dialogue at the top of the spiral stairs again and sees both the Abyss and the tower of Babel does he realize that he should use the latter to put in the former.
Conan asks Neji if they can put the Abyss like that, Neji hesitates but Maimai sympathizes with his curiosity, mentioning that she did want to do so when she was young. As she put the tower of Babel down to the Abyss, it makes a sound of an ancient mechanism as the floor Conan, Ran, Neji and Maimai are standing is gradually lowering.

As the sound of the ancient mechanism ends, Kogoro arrives with Takagi and Megure, asking what the sound was. Conan leads everyone to the secret room of the building. However, Megure perceives this discovery to be not useful, while Kogoro wonders the whereabouts of Satoshi. Feeling that something is off with how long he has been gone and how Maimai explains about her husband's walking habit, Megure orders Takagi to find Satoshi.
