Part 1
A day before Kogoro’s grand lecture, Eri Kisaki arrives at the drink bar where Kogoro, Conan, and Ran are sitting and discuss the event. Conan notices an article about a professor committing murder in one of the files Eri is holding when she accidentally drops it, and he also becomes aware that someone is watching them.
Before Kogoro’s lecture, he is still drinking, much to Ran’s dismay when he states that he must have some alcohol in himself to make others laugh. The Detective Boys also send him a gift, wishing him good luck before they depart to watch a football match in the stadium nearby. In the middle of the fun when Junko Hishida, Yusaku Ujimori, Naoya Tsunohazu, Kosuke Amagi, Kiho Furui, Mei Tsukuba, Kenichiro Inokoshi, and Hideki Tsukinogi are having conversations with Kogoro, The former HISHIDA manager, Mokichi Reizei, is scolding Junko for the bad infrastructure he is witnessing, only to be disrupted by Inokoshi.
Kogoro falls asleep as a result of the heavy drinking session, much to the dismay of Ran, Conan, and Haibara, with Haibara teasing that Conan should use his voice-changing bowtie. However, it looks like that the little detective won’t have time to watch the football match with the Detective Boys as planned, as Furui’s scream when she sees the blood gushing out after hearing no responds from Inokoshi, who asked her to get coffee, catches the attention of Haibara and Conan.

Location: HISHIDA Hall Waiting Room
Victim: Kenichiro Inokoshi
Age: 48 years old
Time: 2:50PM
Cause of death: Stab wound in chest
Suspects: Mokichi Reizei and Hideki Tsukinogi
Inokoshi's body was discovered sitting in a chair and leaned up against the door in the waiting room with a knife sticking out of his chest.
Megure, Takagi, Chiba, and other forensic officers arrive at the scene, and are able to conclude that the culprit must have been the one inside the whole HISHIDA building, as the only three people to go out from it were just the Detective Boys.
Kogoro deduces that Mokichi Reizei is the one to kill Inosoki. However, Reizei admits to having killed Junko, who has gone missing from the interrogation.
Murder

Time: Around 2:55PM
Cause of death: Fell from emergency stairs
Culprit: Mokichi Reizei
She was found laying on the ground outside in a pool of blood with an odd mark on her neck.
Part 2
Kogoro’s lecture was postponed as a result. Takagi reveals the evidence that proves Reizei’s testimony is correct. Conan and Haibara have to investigate the first murder again. They begin to discover something from the newspaper left from the scene, until Tsukaba disrupts the two and suggests them to tell their discover to Kogoro.
The footage from the security camera at 2:55 p.m is the evidence that proves Mokichi Reizei is not the culprit of the murder of Inokoshi, meaning that he is indeed the one behind Junko's death. Reizei figured out his effort to make Junko understand the intention of respecting the former boss of the company is worthless, so he killed her in the process.
The culprit for the first murder is
Hideki Tsukinogi. Tsukinogi admits that he was the bodyguard for Inokoshi 1 year ago when the two encountered a strange woman, the woman was discovered to be Inokoshi's ex-lover who also got abused by him. However, after Tsukinogi explained everything and brought her to the police, Inokoshi fired him and spread rumours that drove Tsukinogi's company to bankruptcy.
Conan is bothered with how Tsukuba was able to solve the case as well. Kogoro’s lecture begins with the intended schedule with the attendance of the surprising guest that was thought to never be in the first act of the lecture, Eri Kisaki.
Part 3
Feeling suspicious, Conan discusses the cases along with Haibara, the Detective Boys, and Takagi. Meanwhile in the lecture, Mei Tsukuba reveals that she was the one to invite him, and has him deduce about a case that was abandoned by Eri Kisaki.

Resolution
Attempted Murder
Location: HISHIDA Hall stage
Victim: Eri Kisaki
Age: 38 years old
Offense weapons: Knife
Culprit: Mei Tsukuba
Mei plans to kill Eri for having withdrew from the trial of her older brother.
The culprit behind the mysterious messages is Mei Tsukuba who was targeting Eri Kisaki for the past murder Hiroto Ashida had seemingly committed.
In truth, Hiroto Ashida had indeed committed the murder as Eri had figured out the truth about his motive and had been sworn to secrecy by him. However after some urging by Conan as Kogoro, Eri reveals the shocking motive which was Mei Tsukaba herself. Back when Hiroto was still in the university, his would be victim (a crooked professor) had stolen his report that he had painstakingly written to pass off as his own.
When Hiroto had tried to argue against this, the crooked professor revealed the shocking truth about his little sister Mei’s enrollment into the university. As it turns out the crooked professor had accepted a bribe from their own mother to enroll her daughter Mei into the university. Unfortunately their mother would pass away soon after from an illness taking the truth to her grave. But as it turns out the only reason why their mother had bribed the professor in the first place was due to the crooked professor urging her to do so in the first place.
He further revealed that he had blackmailed their mother for hush money since it would be her word against his. The crooked professor then decided to blackmail Hiroto for more money to keep quiet about all of this, as a result he decided to kill him. After telling all this to his lawyer Eri Kisaki, he had her promise to swear not to tell his little sister as she would not only be devastated but also would’ve blamed herself for all the pain her family had gone through and most likely would have taken her own life.
When Mei learns all this it shocks her to her very core, as she had misunderstood and had targeted Eri for no reason as she been protecting her all this time. It is then that Mei tries to kill herself, but luckily Kogoro regains consciousness and stops her, although she continues to struggle. Takagi then comes in saying that her brother wants to apologize to her and her brother will be getting a retrial and Mei hearing this drops the knife and surrenders peacefully.
Attempted Suicide

After the truth is revealed, Mei tries to commit suicide but is stopped by Kogoro.
Aftermath
At the end, Ashida's retrial was rescheduled and this time, with Eri back again as his lawyer. Kogoro then complains about not remembering anything about the case and adds that beer still tastes good. Conan jokes that Kogoro shouldn't compare detective work to beer.
