  1. I've taken a major step towards my unintentional goal of being the AiCon most hated by other AiCons without having trolled anyone. http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Gin_and_Sherry (Actually, I'm pretty neutral as far as pairings go (except AkaixJodie), but I like to pretend I'm an AiCon. But then again no one cares.)
  2. Sounds like it might have come from something I wrote: http://forums.dctp.ws/index.php?topic=3518.msg117007#msg117007
  3. Shinichi Kudo does have a brain like wikipedia for random facts that are critical for solving cases and great observational skills and deductive ability. As for magical powers, he can switch between his child and teenage form with a little help. He has a stare/bad intentions sensor. He also gets bad feelings whenever someone kicks the bucket. You already mentioned the "always in the right place when a crime occurs" ability. He can also telepathically send messages to Ran and realize she is in trouble from a distance somehow. It might be though that Ran is the one telepathically doing the sending and receiving. Anything I missed?
  4. The other thing about the BO is they tend to appear in winter months. (with exceptions of course) This is probably because if they come out at any other time of year without air conditioning or lurking in shaded areas, they pass out from heat exhaustion. This is because their clothing is too thermally insulating: long sleeved black formal suits and a bullet roof vest on top of that. Only the female operatives are free to roam in warm daylight hours because they can safely escape the heat by wearing skintight catsuits.
  5. You can always watch the recent changes which is listed on the left menu titled navigation: http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Special:RecentChanges If you click the blue diff button next to an edit, you can see what the person changed. Anytime someone edits, it appears here. You can apply filters to ignore your own edits for example. The other option is to add pages to your watchlist. You do that by clicking a page's watch tab which is one of the six tabs at the top like the edit tab. You can then click "my watchlist" which is on the upper right next to your username and talkpage and preferences and it will let you know if one of your watched pages has been edited recently.
  6. And the last of the theory trio, Scar Akai is Bourbon Theory, has been mainspaced. http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Scar_Akai_is_Bourbon_Theory
  7. file 761 spoiler I like how Conan kicks the soccer ball into the face of an adult man hard enough to knock him out and Takagi's reaction is to simply look surprised. I wonder how he is going to describe the suspect apprehension in his arrest report?
  8. 37.8 taken in the mouth is generally considered a fever despite temperature variations between people. It is not a high fever, but still considered a fever by most doctors. Most school guidelines that I have seen generally say don't take your kid to school if they are running a fever of 100F or greater which works out to be about 37.8. If you are used to seeing Fahrenheit, I put the conversions above.
  9. Someone we haven't met yet. My personal pet boss theory is that the boss will be discovered through a case from Kogoro's past or the like. The reason for this is I noticed that there is a mysterious absence of anything to do with Kogoro's family background. He's a main character and absolutely nothing has been mentioned even in passing about any of his kin beyond Ran. Comparing the other main characters Shinichi - Mom and Dad Ran - Mom (but because she is related to Kogoro no one else) Agasa - family in general mentioned, aunt, uncle, cousin’s granddaughter Sonoko - mom, dad, sister, uncles Haibara - Mom, Dad, Sister Ayumi - Mom, Dad, (know she is only child) Mitsuhiko - Dad, sister Genta - Mom and Dad Hattori - Mom and dad The police have less background than other char groups Megure - ? Sato - mom and dad Takagi - ? (I think something might have been said at some point. I'll review.) Shiratori - know his family is rich, had a butler person (if I remember correctly) Basically considering Kogoro is in the top three along with Ran and Conan, it's weird his family hasn't been mentioned even once regardless of whether they are alive or not. You would think Gosho would want to write a dramatic case where one of Kogoro's family members is a case suspect or a victim. Considering the length of the manga and that character family related stories are otherwise quite common, I believe this omission is intentional. I can think of three reasons why Gosho would not want to introduce a relative of Kogoro too early: a.) It would be too big of a hint. b.) It would call unwanted attention and suspicion where Gosho does not yet want it. c.) It serves as a major plot key which will enable Conan to solve a very important mystery. Given that this censorship of Kogoro's kin has been going on since the very beginning of the manga, it would be logical to assume that the reason is pertinent to the overarching mysteries - namely what is the true nature of the Org, who is the boss, and what is its goal. Also assuming Gosho had some idea what the end of DC should be when he began writing it, he would probably construct the ending so that in case DC turned out to be only sort of popular, he could end it quickly using the available characters which would be Conan, Kogoro, Ran, Agasa, the DB, and Megure. As DC became more complicated in the Haibara and then Vermouth arcs when more characters were introduced, he probably started expounding on the final solution while keeping the original core the same. There are two main ways I think Kogoro could be connected to the Org: a.) Someone(s) in Kogoro's family has a critical connection or position in the Org. I do not support the theory that Kogoro himself is part of the Crow Corps, but with the family name "Mouri", and its difficult-to-ignore resemblance to "Moriarty" from the Sherlock canon, I think that this theory concerning relatives on the dark side holds thematic appeal. (Yes, I know about Mouri and Maurice Leblanc, but a double pun is possible. Mouri/(モウリ)/[Mouri] vs. Moriaty/(モリアーティ)/[moriaati] vs. and Maurice/(モーリス)/Moorisu) b.) Someone(s) in Kogoro's family was a victim of the Org, and that the circumstances/mystery behind it are a major clue to one of the central mysteries like the identity of the boss, or the org's name, etc. Basically this case from Kogoro's past is the case that lets Conan get the info he needs to really crack the Org mystery open. Summing it up: Kogoro's relatives are suspiciously absent.
  10. My thoughts are no. Magic Kaito's Pandora thing isn't canon to DC other than Kaito Kid making vague references to jewels not being what he is looking for. Kaito Kid doesn't have any relevance to the DC main plot either; his only appearances are "fillers". Also the Magic Kaito Org was considerably less cautious than the DC Black Org: Snake casually revealed his codename and the fact he killed Toichi to Kaito, and the boss revealed the Pandora mission outside where anyone could eavesdrop. The Pandora story doesn't make much sense either. If the comet appears once every 10,000 years than that means its last pass predates (by thousands of years) written history and the required gem cutting technique to put one cut stone in another, so how could the Pandora legend exist and not be forgotten or warped beyond recognition by thousands of years of oral tradition? Even if someone was immortal, unless immortality also comes with resistance to disease, cancer, and mortal wounds, there is a good chance anyone using it would have died due to some accident or another well before the 10,000 year mark. The MK org was the likely inspiration for the Black Org. Gosho gutted the magic in order to harmonize the mission with "science" because magic and detective fiction don't mix, made the Black Org more serious, and redesigned it so it could be unraveled over many mysteries and plot arcs.
  11. Why go through the work or the detection needed to figure out which type of accounts are which? I doubt DCW is drowning under the data of unused accounts. If someone wants to claim a better name belonging to an unused account, then let there be some criteria - like the person who wants the account name needs to have X posts and desired never-posted account is given a notification they have two weeks to reply to.
  12. If you run a Windows box, Ms paint is an easy way to crop and save (but not resize), but just don't save your pics as jpegs because the loss of quality is retina searing. If you have to resize a picture in windows without any decent graphics programs, you can preview the image in a standard finder window, shrink the size of the window until it is the right size, take a screenshot of the shrunken image, and paste it back into paint. On a Mac machine, Grab might be able to do the same things as MsPaint. There might be some nicer preinstalled software though. I don't use macs, so my knowledge is pretty limited.
  13. The boss is probably someone we haven't met yet or an extremely minor character only seen once because Aoyama would want to avoid writing himself into a corner or having the solution revealed too early.
  14. Of course Agasa isn't the boss. That would be silly. It contradicts with his character i.e. why would the boss help Shinichi mess with his missions, try to bring the Org down, work with the FBI, or meet with the FBI. Also harboring Haibara makes no sense, if Agasa were the boss and wanted Haibara to finish her work or something like that, why would he not tell Gin and the rest of the BO stop looking for her anymore?
  15. 37, not 37.5, is considered standard. 37 degrees Celsius = 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit 37.5 degrees Celsius = 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit 37.8 degrees Celsius = 100.04 degrees Fahrenheit.
  16. ...And the Akai faked his death theory article is now mainspaced.
  17. It's a phone number. I don't know why email address was used in translations back then. Conan specifically says if Takagi traced it and found it belonged to a land line, they could get the boss's address. Then again, I have no idea why Conan would think it was a landline. Most landlines don't receive text messages as far as I know, but then again this is the tech-feature-loving Japan we are considering.
  18. Here's one answer for the latest chapter. Masao grabbed and specifically ordered four cards: "Ro, Ko, Ni, Te". He then asked for "Suwako Kegani Taoru" (towel with a horsehair crab from lake suwa). Notice that the three words' last syllables end in hiragana picked by Masao. Reordering the words to match the order Masao picked and adding in the te gives: Ta o ru Su wa ko Ke ga ni Te Reading the first hiragana of each word in order + Te at the end results in "Ta Su Ke Te" = "tasukete" = "Help me" There may be more to the puzzle than what I figured out, and I jumped straight to the conclusion rather than try to figure out what "I can't do without that" means.
  19. The AO "secret of the high sales" is about as close as it comes.
  20. Taken more literally the quote would imply zombies, taken more metaphorically, it might imply resurrecting the past or restoring things to a former state. It would be nice to see the quote in Japanese. It pairs with a quote from Haibara: “You can’t rush things. Humans can never go against the stream of time. If man forcibly tries to change that there will be punishment” – (original 20-1, 380.17, 37-8) Quoting some old stuff I wrote on the topic... I’m favoring the idea that immortality or anti-aging is one of the ultimate goals of the organization. 1) The anti-aging side-effects of APTX 4869 probably indicate main intent of the drug. It probably was just a useful side effect that it happened to leave no trace in the victim’s body, and was employed as a poison. Supporting this is Ai’s line, "Kudo-kun? You would probably never even dream that you are already part of a project the Black Organization has been working on already for half a century." (V19-9 or file 191/ep 130-131) APTX 4869 is the only known intersection between Shinichi and the B.O. Also, APTX4869 was called the "incomplete detective" - which means its true purpose has not yet been achieved. 2) According to Haibara’s description about APTX (V24-10), it messes with telomerase and “the reproductive potential” of cells. A non-biologist like Gosho constructing the story might latch onto the idea that adding telomerase would increase the lifespan and number of divisions a cell could undergo, lengthening the organism’s lifespan. 3) Shiho Miyano’s name was on the raffle list for the immortality arrows in the mermaid case in Fukui (279-283) 4) Failure of Vermouth/Chris Vineyard to age. (She hasn’t changed much since she murdered Jodie’s parents twenty years ago [433]) If this didn’t have some important plot related reason behind it, it would be quite out of place. 5) If the organization from Magic Kaito is the same Black Org, then the search for “Pandora’s box” (the jewel for immortality) pretty much gives it away; however the MK org is almost certainly not canon to DC. Gosho himself confirmed in an interview somewhere that the two Orgs are not related at all, so this point is moot. The computer/programming aspect of the B.O. kind of bothers me. It is known they have some involvement with computer viruses (Night Baron); however, it may also be related to the main biochemistry agenda. Whatever it is, it prompted Itakura to say that he didn’t want to complete his program “for the sake of humanity” (380.12). That would imply that it has some negative purpose, and could affect a lot of people. It could be another computer virus meant for a wide scale attack, but there are other possibilities as well especially since they were interested in a program by game designer Itakura. Itakura’s program is something an ordinary person would program; specifically someone who programmed games. It probably was a personal project of Itakura's as he was able to stop developing it on a whim; something he wouldn't be able to do so easily if he was paid to make it. If it is a personal project, it doesn't have to be specifically related to games. It could be something related to game development like artificial intelligence, networking, modeling, rendering, etc, or it could be something completely different. That the BO could find out about it in the first place probably indicates that Itakura didn't keep it secret. That means it probably not a virus or something highly illegal Itakura would not want to speak of, although modified it may have those applications. I don't really have any ideas of what the computer agenda is, other than I suspect it's different than the biochemistry agenda: i.e. not a tool to come up with better APTX prototypes. Going along with the immortality agenda, it might be some kind of AI, perhaps one designed to be a replica of a person allowing them to live forever on a computer. Another idea is some kind of "omniscience program" which appeals to the bad for humanity part.
  21. No Shinichi hasn't cried and this is a deliberate choice by Gosho. I remember there was a discussion about this in the DCTP cbox. He may be prepping for an eventual scene where Shinichi cries to maximize impact or Shinichi might not cry at all.
  22. I don't think Conan would be especially interested because I doubt he wants to push into her private affairs, especially if the memories associated with them are bad. I'm pretty sure Conan is aware of the possibility that Gin and Sherry were together. He started to ask her on page 15 of Volume 24 - 11, but she cut him off. (It's ep 178)
  23. Let's not get off topic. Besides, if Conan and Ai were to get together, I think he would overlook Ai's past with Gin.
  24. I think he was referring to the fact Ran was hand drawn and thus doesn't match official art. This is clearly a fanmade poster.
  25. Got it. Conan Drill lists it as unknown "生年月日不明" on page 44. Also shouldn't this discussion be on the article talk page?
