  1. Conan told him sometime offpage if I am not mistaken. I don't remember the chapter where Hattori discusses Ai however. It might be in the Vermouth arc.
  2. I think separating by art types is cool. Trying to avoid one art, one thread is goal here. I can detangle threads if there is a problem and I mixed something up I shouldn't have. I think Detective Conan art is the most appropriate myself. There was something a while back about a on-offtopic art split, but people seemed against it. I guess the people who post offtopic art suffer the side effect of fewer people being interested in their stuff. Drawings would probably be best, although a separate subforum would probably be better. That's Maurice's territory unfortunately. For some reason I hear about people with issues on Pixiv the most. Some artists you just have to tread icicles with. Personally I think the problem is partially caused by Pixiv's policies encouraging reuploading elsewhere (which makes pissed off artists). People without accounts having pretty annoying viewing restrictions (I can't see an artist's gallery without logging in), and last I checked (a year+ ago) Pixiv blocks a lot of common email addresses. People wanting to share with non-account friends thus re-upload images. Most people are usually cool if you are crediting them back.
  3. It loads it at full size first before resizing, so your computer still takes the full memory hit of loading a huge picture. Sketchy connections don't make it through the full load process and don't get resized. I have a good connection and still have trouble with some of the largest pictures. If you feel that embarrassed about your older art, then take the old art down, redo it, or re-edit the post to put links to your better newer art first. If it's on the internet and not behind any view barriers, it's the equivalent of being publicly announced. I don't think anyone should be ashamed of improving. Editing your first post to link to your art in reverse order with dates would be the best strategy.
  4. To call attention to a new piece, you bump your own thread with it. You can also change the title and message under the title as well by editing your first post to signal something new has been posted. The reason I am doing this is for organization. The one thread per art system is disorganized, extremely annoying to wade through (My first reaction on coming here was literally WTF is up with this), and not useful for browsers who want to look at more than one work by a particular artist which is a pretty common user behavior. This wouldn't be as necessary if DCW let you organize by original poster so you could quickly find all the art threads started by a particular person. Unfortunately you can't do that, which is why the disorganization is so much worse. The one thread per art system also unfairly benefits the users who are more prolific than others. Those users who post fewer or in a more spaced out fashion get bumped from the first page a lot quicker by people who post in clumps or prolifically, meaning they don't get as much attention or critique. If say, Sonoci posted 4komas in a separate thread every time at DCTP, other artists would be drowned out because Sonoci does a lot of 4komas. (Not knocking Sonoci's 4komas here. They are great.) It also biases art type exposure as well. Some types of art, like page colors, traces, and sketches often get produced a lot faster and will mean those works will dominate the front page versus original digital or other media works. The one thread per artist system instead signals who has been most active lately, allows more artists in total to be seen, but lets those posting more art stay up near the top. If the mood or vibe is a problem, use spoiler boxes so that artworks aren't visible at the same time. The best strategy of all would be to get an account on art website that lets you display on your own terms and post links, but ask for critique on DCW. The extremely light colored DCW background isn't exactly pro-artist display territory that will help your vibes much. If you have problems with a false accusation from another user, I'd be happy to edit it with a message that the accusation was false so anyone reading through would know from the beginning without the drama. Regarding art sharing, make sure it's obvious you didn't make it, and always credit the artist and link back to the source. If you don't know the source, explain/link where you found it and that you would like to credit the user. If you have want to start a thread linking to all the cool fanart you found concerning, say Kaitou Kid, (they have fanart topic on DCTP like this if you want an example) you can start that sort of thing if you want, provided the crediting is in place. Otherwise use common sense and don't do anything with the art that would make the original artist mad.
  5. July 8, 2014 Attention was called to the fact that threads are all spread out with a single work of art in one thread rather than by artist. Starting today I am merging all threads by artist and creating a list of all the artists so people can easily find them. This is going to take a while, so please be patient. If you have any questions, please ask. Artist Guide All the artists who have contributed to the fanart section are listed below in alphabetical order. How do I start an art thread and what are the rules? Unless you are posting a tutorial, question, request, collection, or there is some unique circumstance, please keep all your art to one thread. When you add new art to your thread, make a new post to bump your thread so people notice, but also add a link to the new post in the first post so viewers don't have to search your entire thread just to find the posts with art in them. You can get the link to a particular post by clicking the small number in the upper-right-hand corner of that post's box and copying the address that comes up. Detective Conan and non-Detective Conan art is allowed, although more people will be interested in Detective Conan art. If your art is based off manga spoilers, please use a spoiler box to hide it and tell people that there are spoilers inside so no one will be surprised. For mature art, please be aware that there are young visitors to this website, and that this is not the best place for such work. If you post someone else's art, always make sure you state who made it, and link back to where you got it. Some people don't like their work being posted by other people. If so, please do not post their work; instead link to them. Use common sense and courtesy and things should work out okay. 2. How do I post pictures? If you uploaded it to a website like deviantart, photobucket, imageshack, etc..., either link to the image or insert the image with . If you do insert the image, please use a spoiler box for large images. If you haven't uploaded your picture online, use the attachments function below the post box when you are in full editor mode. Note there is a size limit. There is also a troubleshooting thread if you are still having problems: How do you add pictures to posts? 3. I changed my username! Tell a mod that you need your name changed in the drawing reference thread. 4. My listing needs updating/correcting! Tell a mod how you need your listing changed in the drawing reference thread. 5. How do I change my thread title to let people know what's new? Edit your first post, select Use full editor, and you will have the option to edit your topic title, topic description, and change or add a poll if you like. 6. How do I critique a drawing that needs ... a lot of improvement? Critique using constructive criticism and common sense. Most people want to learn how to improve and will understand if you point out things that need improvement. If the user starts getting angry though, it is better just to back off. Ignoring good advice is their loss. 7. I think someone is stealing or copying art! What do I do? Before accusing them or getting a moderator, make sure they are actually stealing or copying art. For stealing situations, be aware some users may have a posted their work elsewhere under a different name, so make sure the alleged stealer isn't the same person as the original artist. The fastest way to find out would to post nicely asking if they are artist XYZ on website ABC with a link. If they are the same person, you will get a pleasant response. If they aren't, then you've exposed the thief, provided proof, and were polite all in one post. Point this out to the moderators and you are set. For copying situations, with exceptions, it generally isn't considered stealing if an artist uses a little bit of someone else's work AND ALSO credits the original back. Copying work or part of work of more experienced artists is very common among new artists looking to improve, but this is only allowed if they explain they are making a copy/tracing/whatever and credit the original. The best case would be to also include the original picture too in the post. Improving another fanartist's work without permission is generally frowned on.
  6. Point taken. I haven't done any cleanup down in fanart, but I think it's a good idea. I took a look and a bunch of threads can probably get merged. I merged some by Aerya and Tsukiko as a test and it looks good to me. It would allow people to see all the works by a particular artist pretty easily. Edit: Not even close to done merging yet and the page number has been cut down to half...
  7. Interior trunk release levers were only mandated in the US in 2001.
  8. I forgot when but I think Jodie said Ran could not hear any of the conversations outside of the trunk. She only came out because she heard gunshots and was worried. A lot of people wonder why the random plane flew over during the middle of the conversation between Jodie and Vermouth. Definitely blocking Ran from hearing that Vermouth doesn't age and is Sharon Vineyard is one of the reasons. Also part of the conversation about the 20 years ago bit took place in English, which Ran may have had more trouble with and not caught all of. All of this assumes Ran could everything else perfectly. That might not be the case. Also, trunks are typically not airtight. Assuming a bad trunk scenario, Ran would have many hours before she suffocated assuming she is not hyperventilating.

  10. In case anyone is wondering, ^this^ is one of the boss relevant interviews. 「いま何合目に当たるのかは、秘密です。実は、ボスの名前はすでに原作のどこかに出ている。捜してみて下さい」 *text changed to match picture* I am pretty sure the last two of the three sentences say something like: "As a matter of fact, the boss's name has already appeared somewhere in the original work. Please search for it for me." According to the last paragraph which talks about Aoyama's then recent marriage to Takayama Minami, Conan's voice actor, apparently Gosho has trouble relaxing from work because he keeps hearing Conan in the house. *Note: they divorced later* SUPER late edit later: The last file before this boss's name has appeared interview was 551 (Nail and Snake) and was in Shounen Sunday issue #5-6 2006 (a double issue with a week break afterwards) which was published January 4, 2006.
  11. Okiya could have snuck in and left it too because he was following. I think that's slightly more likely than Scar Akai. If it was Okiya it was probably in response to finding out from the news clip that Jodie was stalked last time she was in public by scar Akai at the bank. Jodie should have appeared on the tape too.
  12. Final Results: Vermouth - 3 Gin - 4 Juzo Megure - 2 Okiya is Akai Theory - 5 Vehicles in Detective Conan - 1 Another featured article will be picked in a month or so hopefully, so feel free to give suggestions in the meantime, and of course your help in editing the wiki and making articles of featurable quality will be greatly appreciated. Some articles I think are getting close to featurable level that could use a little more help: Emergency Situation 252
  13. It's generally accepted among the fandom the movies are not canon. (We have a page for that now!) This is because some developments in the movies contradict, or logically lead to bizarre implications, or are wildly out of character compared to the main manga plotline. Because the movies are entirely unnecessary to understand the manga plot or may even distract from actual cases in the manga, they are rejected from the storyline by fans. In addition, due to the anime team's history of altering plots or overlooking important clues (nowhere near complete), the Conan animation is generally considered not as trustworthy. The only accepted movie elements are those that jump back into the manga. Shiratori is one example, but even in his case, the part of his story from Movie 1 is not considered canon.
  14. I'm afraid you are not going to get a reply from Kazu. He/she was last active Aug 10 2011 and the post you are replying to is more than a year old.
  15. I had a debate with someone about the Kaito Kid knowing Conan's identity canonically at one point. It was complicated by a disagreement on the definition of canon. It's clear Kaitou Kid knows in the movies and Gosho wrote or endorsed that script, but it isn't clear if this knowledge caries over to the manga like how most of the other movie stuff has no relation to the manga. Kazu quoted some interview from an early guidebook, but without context I'm not sure what to believe. Besides, the way Kaitou treats Conan in the manga is noticeably different than how he treats Conan in the movies. In the movies he teases Conan about being Shinichi quite often, in the manga, no.
  16. dunno if it is real or not... By content it checks out. fake interviews usually contain massive fake spoilers and usually aren't so long. Maybe the person who typed it up did so semi shorthand?

  17. I don't now the source because the person didn't say. There is not an English translation as far as I know.Edit: Real or not I can't say.
  18. Here is an interview that was posted at DCTP regarding the 16th movie, 11 Striker. Most of it seems to be about that and inspiration/origin for various things like the Gosho's interest in soccer, why Conan and soccer, the players, voice actors, the uniforms, the culprit, how long, etc. While the info may prove useful for the wiki, I don't see anything very exciting. The second to last question mentions Sera and Haibara, but seems to be in the context of Haibara being Gosho's mouthpiece and Sera's eyes. The third to last Q&A mentions Vermouth, but probably in relation to iPhones. I don't think much will come out of this interview unless you want spoilers for the movie.
  19. Just to let you all know this isn't a favorite character contest. It's about picking articles that you want people to see first when visiting the wiki and/or encouraging them to build. That said I took another look at Gin and it's going to take a bit of effort before it can reach the main page. It's missing quite a bit of info and needs some heavy rewrites.
  20. That sounds like the grey planner, which was not connected to the BO as far as anyone knows. Are you sure your facts are straight? Vodka did not have Vermouth's permission or invitation to go on the Halloween party ship. In fact, she had no idea Vodka was going be on the ship at all. Vodka snuck on at the boss's and Gin's orders, keeping secret from Vermouth, because they wanted to spy on her because they were worried about what she was up to. Vermouth as Vineyard had nothing to do with the ghost ship's financing either. The ghost ship is arranged as a interest/fundraiser and to find fans who are good at horror acting and makeup who could play roles in the movie. They have other sources of money. Conan thinks they make money from assassination. They also make other money from their fundraising division which Pisco was a part of. Also we don't know if Vermouth is a shareholder in any companies.

  21. I like Gin as an article that isn't bad as it stands, but maybe the extra attention would bring about some improvement. Vermouth is pretty solid article. We just had a Black Org character as a featured page though. Juzo Megure could use the attention for improvement purposes. The Okiya is Akai theory... that one just makes me feel self conscious. I like Vehicles in Detective Conan myself. How about I just start a poll and we add suggestions as we go and then have a runoff?
  22. Because there is no evidence they have any chance of being Bourbon or relevant to this arc. Technically all the characters are Bourbon candidates, but only a few really have anything going for them. It would be a waste to clog the poll with random options. At this point it's pretty much Okiya, Scar Akai, Sera, and Amuro. Camel and Koumei are there because they are fairly new, and the Akai re-infiltrating theory was sort of popular at one point.
  23. We might get some suspects next file, which is why I have left out the poll. As much as I would like Ai to take the antidote, it is Conan who has the cold. Either way though, this does bode well for upcoming developments. I also like the look of this mystery train. I hope we make up for the lack of Subaru snow skiing with a train case. It would be interesting if the final Bourbon clash took place on a train. Sera definitely deliberately tracked down the Detective boys and Agasa, probably to get at Haibara whom she hasn't met closely yet. Credit for Sonoci posting this first, but I agree with her that Amuro is interested in Agasa because of the car chase in File 800, and doubly so because Sera was asking about him. Sonoci thinks Amuro is wrongly placing Agasa's name to Okiya's face, but it could be that Amuro thinks the mysterious guy-he-doesn't-know-the-name-of is connected with Agasa, not actually Agasa. Both work at the current stage of things. Regarding what Okiya means with the territory line, I think it's a gentle warning for Ai to stay back because Akai doesn't want her to get too involved in case Okiya comes into the firing line for some reason. I think Ai is being a bit melodramatic about what she thinks Okiya means. EDIT: Sonoci has a 4Koma about Amuro's possible Agasa mixup that I would like to post, but will give her the chance to first.**COUGH HINT HINT COUGH** She never came so here it is. All Credit to the glorious SONOCI!!!!
