  1. Targeting Akai's closest FBI colleagues seems like a really good start. Who would you get help from first, close friends or random strangers?
  2. Context: 2) The person wouldn’t fit Ai’s expectations 2.1) The person seems "useless" or of unsuitable personality to actually think of them as being a mastermind behind a large organization. Ai would have had to meet this person personally so that she could gauge their personality and subsequently write them off as unlikely to be anyone of consequence. This person would almost certainly not trigger Ai’s “black org sense.” 2.2)... 2.3) .... .... This is only one possibility for who the boss might be out of several different possibilities, so the boss could have a BO scent. Also the interview about Haibara being shocked by the boss's identity which these possibilities are based on has not been independently confirmed, so everything is really tentative here. Sorry, I don't want to sound more sure than I really am -- which is not confident at all.
  3. This is the thread you want: The Secret Behind Vermouth's Youth!
  4. DCW never hosted the content in the first place as far as I understand but still received a DMCA anyway. The moderators are trying to get the site admin to remove the watch section altogether to avoid confusion. It's never coming back.
  5. I think Ai would have protested until she got an answer that satisfied her because whatever they originally told her about her sister dying was not good enough. We don't know if she knows. She knows "Moroboshi Dai" was a traitor of some sort. We don't know if she knows it was because he was an FBI spy. We do know she doesn't know "Moroboshi Dai's" real name is Akai because she didn't recognize it when Conan talked about him in Red vs. Black.
  6. I don't lean this way because I am not seeing any proof of it.Edit Reply to Glass heart 2 posts below V I disagree and think the Scar Akai is Bourbon theory makes the most sense and has the best evidence. (Sorta cheating, but sorry I didn't think this reply was worth making a whole separate post for...)
  7. It's actually not so obvious, because the meeting where Akai was kicked out was the one where he was supposed to meet face to face with Gin now that he had finally been promoted. The wiki says: Gin and Shuichi Akai
  8. Curious. When Sera went to attack Ran on the bus in her intro, what are the names of the techniques she used? Do they say anything about her handedness?

  9. Dumped a bunch of 818 related promos on the manga spoilers board if anyone is interested. There is a video.

  10. Case solution stab one Also, apparently Shounen Sunday put out a video trailer for this manga case... And the website with the promo video embedded: http://websunday.net/news/#n_conan And another website with recap and pictures. http://www.shogakukan.co.jp/pr/kurozukume/ And more goods: From Tuntun and Beika-street.net: a bigger promotional image:
  11. Quick note, it is Apoptoxin with the extra p. Other people have answered some of your questions, but Haibara talked about some of the origin behind Apoptoxin, including the name in Reunion with the Black Organization. The true purpose of it has not been revealed although there were several hints in the description of the how it works and in Haibara's conversation with Pisco given in the same case which are discussed in the wiki article for Apoptoxin 4869 and in this forum thread Black Organization's true plan. When and who named it is unknown, but it didn't sound like Shiho named it to me. The number designation 4869 is unlikely to be a symbol of how many different versions were tried before because it is a deliberate pun. The BO knew it was a poison because it was tested on animals and it killed them. I don't think that is what is going on here. The apo- prefix can mean "derived from, or related to", but since the name is based on "apoptosis", the prefix will take the etymological sense that apoptosis uses: apo- from Greek (ἀπό) meaning "away from". Apoptosis itself has roots in Greek (ἀπόπτωσις) meaning "a falling off". Ripping from Wikipedia, "In Greek, apoptosis translates to the 'dropping off' of petals or leaves from plants or trees."I think the real origin of the apoptoxin comes from Japanese style portmaneaus. The Japanese language often stick two syllables of multiple words (often foreign) together to make a japanized contraction. You see it in words like "pasokon" meaning "personal computer" (pāsonaru konpyūta), "amefuto" meaning American Football, and the well-known-even-in-English "Pokemon" for "pocket monsters" (poketto monsutā). Apoptoxin likely has a similar origin from the English words "Apoptosis toxin". Isn't it? I thought I saw it mentioned back in episode 176??? The plate was never shown in manga, and even worse, it changed several times in the anime. Generally most fans don't consider things not shown in the manga to be canon even if they come from a manga based episode.
  12. Vermouth's story was that she got randomly found and attacked by Shuuichi Akai and the other FBI; it is a suspicious but not unbelievable story because the FBI did follow her to Japan. Gin might think she is hiding something, but he doesn't have a clue what, so if she tells the "truth" under questioning, it's over because Gin doesn't have proof that there is more to Vermouth's story than she is saying. Gin secretly sent Vodka into a disguise party on a ship to find out what Vermouth might be up to, and the best Vodka could do was find some weird Osakan teenage detective disguising as a dead guy trying to lure the real one out, and Vermouth apparently blackmailing a man to murder for some reason. The boss decided to play it safe and put Vermouth on a shorter leash, but there is only so much they can be justified in doing without evidence.
  13. Yes and he has. He apparently blocked her from his memory from sheer terror, has permanent memory damage from her smacking him, forgot her. 11-07 (107) pg 5
  14. A few Japanese stores/auction sites online sell it. It has not been translated into English although a few parts of pages have been. Which characters' relationships are you interested in? Someone may have uploaded snaps of some of the relationship diagrams already because I have seen a few floating around.
  15. The video I was talking about is the one of Shiho from 817. I don't know if you were directing this comment to me, but I just wanted to be clear if you were. - answer not spoilers so not spoiler boxedEdit: Bloody hell people, the featured wiki article is the Okiya is Akai theory. If we break 20% for Okiya I'm going to weep.
  16. Thanks for the sleuthing.

  17. I doubt he was told about it... 818 manga spoilers In any case, I still think that Bourbon is using Shiho as a means to the end of getting Akai. He thinks Shiho is working with the FBI because Conan's gum tracker combo was wrongly attributed to the FBI. Because of Akai's relations with Akemi, if Bourbon thinks he can find Shiho, he'll find Akai who has been helping her, or so he believes. His main target is still Akai, but, as a bonus, he'd also be getting Sherry too which makes the rest of the BO happy and would probably help him rank/seniority/permission to do more things he wants to-wise.
  18. We have gotta ax the watch section...

  19. I also flagged her account as spam because she has no posts and is doing this. Still didn't make it stop...

  20. They have all been coming from facebook. They all had the tag below the text like the one I just deleted.

  21. Sorry, with two fingers down and one up, it looked awfully phallic. I thought there was some sort of comment section on the DCW facebook and the comments showed up in the feed here. I killed my facebook years back so I have no idea how it works now.
