There was no murder - or other crime - going on in the Makabe house, but yet a medical emergency: Unknown to Ayumi, Yuri Makabe was in the last stage of her pregnancy. (Because she had miscarried once, Yuri had decided not to tell anynone until she was sure that the baby would be born healthy.) When the water broke, an unusual amount of blood was released, hence the stains the Detective Boys found on the doll and beneath the bed. However, Jun managed to get his wife to the hospital just in time; Yuri has delivered without any complications and was spending the last few days in the hospital to recover.

 When Jun brought Ayumi into the mountains, he was really taking her to his wife's hospital for treatment and recovery. In addition, the mystery woman was not, as the Detective Boys surmised, Jun's mistress, but his sister who was likewise worried about her sister-in-law.
