  1. Actually both look pretty close to how SACD described him, just in different times. Honestly, it wouldn't have worked exactly how SACD wrote it in Sherlock. And RDJ was very close to how SACD wrote him, just better looking (though I suspect that's more because Hollywood wanted a good looking hero than a poor looking hero, its just the way it goes) RDJ's Holmes is actually the closest in character to the books too, at least in my opinion. As time progresses it seems that Hollywood gets more and more close to getting it right. The most popular depiction (Rathbone) is pretty horrid for looks and character. Holmes was anything but a gentleman. For a modernization, I think Sherlock did it the way it should have been done. In the modern world, people like Holmes don't work as well because of how connected the world is. Though I suppose the facial features could have been kept a bit closer, and they didn't address his addiction to the harder drugs, only alluding to it through the 7% solution line. As for Liam Neelson... He could certainly do it, but RDJ is perfect for the role of the eccentric drug addicted genius IMO. It is like those roles were made for him. Liam Neelson is no doubt capable of playing the eccentric genius, but honestly seems to be more suited for the wise plotting type of character. Granted in terms of looks Liam Neelson is closer and could have made a perfect looking Holmes, but RDJ portrayed Holmes far better.
  2. It is backwards... It is supposed to be comparing Arsene Lupin to Kaitou Kid. Reason is that Aoyama Gosho based Kaitou Kid off of Maurice LeBlanc's Arsene Lupin. So it is certainly justified, but DC fans do it backwards because of first exposure. I read Arsene Lupin first, and Kid second. So I always compared Lupin to Kid. And to me, really... there is no comparison to the original. Maurice LeBlanc is a specialist in that kind of writing, while Gosho is not. A lot of what Kid does is not possible at times, while Lupin is far more realistic. And honestly, I've never been bored with a Lupin novel or story, while lately all Kid does is bore me.
  3. Indeed, though I wish they had actually animated Celestia's reaction. Would have been awesome.
  4. It is hard to avoid lesbian ships when 95% of the cast are female. You can't ship every character to the same male character. It doesn't work. That does not mean the fanon thinks that Dash is lesbian. That is just being stupid. By that definition then every character is lesbian or bisexual.

  5. The fanon? Must be deaf... Most fanon don't think that. Most of the fans follow what Faust says. Sean clearly hears only what he wants to hear. The lesbian thing came from ONE article that berated MLP for various shallow reasons, that being one of them.

  6. -looks on Par-chan's comments- Ugh! Your friend doesn't read does he? Lauren Faust has said that she is NOT a lesbian! Tomboy + Rainbow colored hair a lesbian does not make! I know this first hand.

  7. She is indeed pretty damn good. Though the singing isn't a fair part of the audition, as Tara Stong has a stand in for that. But the rest was amazing. And now for something completely different.
  8. We are on the same page then.
  9. Links to entire files is not allowed here, but links to individual pages or frames for proof is A-OK here. And yes, he is pretty perfect in the manga, BUT he has never skateboarded on a rollercoaster, parasailed with a pro at paragliding, shot PERFECTLY to graze a target (lest you count the posthumous kid file where Shinichi fires at the tarp)... I could go on. But sufficed to say, he is far more perfect because of the "I learned it Hawaii" bit than he is in manga canon. And it isn't all about that, but it is also character interaction (which is a part of dynamics). Basically the way the characters interact with each other is off. The BO would have been outed, Shinichi would be able to sing, and so fourth. The physics in manga canon is at least kinda accurate. In the movies its nonexistant. Look: here is your hw... read my initial post here. Feel free to refute anything you please, and I'll get back to you when I have time. My only rule is that I refuse to rewatch unless necessary. I haven't seen most of the movies in years. So my memory is hazy at best for all.
  10. Chapter 11 you say? How is that possible? All volumes have 10 files in them. ALL OF THEM. So please link to the image of the scan that states Shinichi's birthday. And the character dynamics are screwed up. Believe me, they don't act as they would, and Conan especially is made far too perfect. EDIT: Apparently his birthday was stated in Detective Conan Drill. NEVER in the manga. Edit #2: Yes he makes suggestions, but that does not mean they use those suggestions. Gosho has a lot of pull, but he has nothing to do with the writing. That is why Kid knows who Conan is, why Shinichi learned everything in Hawaii, why half the plots don't make any sense, and why they jump the gun on EVERYTHING. Not to mention the atrocious physics.
  11. Hm, I should address this... First off... Shinichi wouldn't be mentioned. Minors in Japan are left out of the media when involved in a case like that. He would be called "teenager A" or something to that degree. And that is if it even made it to the papers. A high profile case like that would never make it because the police wouldn't let it. Not only that, but Yuusaku and Yukiko wouldn't want it hitting the papers, considering that the head of the Homicide division is a close personal friend of the Kudo family, the BO would have no means to check. Secondly, bodies are moved by the police. And are not released until positive ID is made or sometimes until the case is solved. And if an unknown method of death was the cause, then they would have to hold the body until that could be determined. So not having a body in this instance is completely natural. I think Pisco might know who Shinichi is, but not know anything else. Shinichi was all over the news papers, so not knowing him means you were blind to the news for a while. However the issue is more whether he knows the situation with Shinichi. We know a team of BO agents went to the Kudo's house to determine he was dead or not twice, and that Shiho went as the head of the project that was used to kill him. However, it would be safe to assume that she was the highest ranked member there. I see no reason why they would use high level BO agents to do simple intel. So the likelihood of him knowing based on that is slim, and Gin doesn't talk about whom he's killed. He probably reported to the boss, and the boss told the science division to investigate. Pisco probably wasn't involved in Shinichi's investigation in the slightest. So while Pisco can make the connection to Shiho, he cannot make any connection to Shinichi, since he has no reason to, nor any knowledge base that would allow him to. tl;dr: The collective knowledge of the BO's operations is not shared. It seems to be on a need to know basis, and thus Pisco has no reason to make that jump in reasoning considering he probably didn't even know Shinichi was killed using APTX (which would be the only thing linking the two).
  12. Detective Conan seems awfully popular in Germany... Well I hope you enjoy yourself here!
  13. 1) most, if not all, movies and ovas screw horribly with manga canon, especially character dynamics. 2) Gosho has never officially stated the date of Shinichi's birthday in manga. It has only been mentioned in the movies which are not canon. The movies can never be canon nor the ovas. The anime originals could possibly fit with movies, but those too are not canon. So long as the material was not written by Gosho, it is not canon, and rightly so. Edit: And ONE MORE THING! Gosho has nothing at all to do with the movies, except doing ONE or TWO key frames per movie and the poster. He has nothing to do with the story what so ever except for the fact that he owns the series and the characters. TMS is licensing the series for the purpose of making the anime and movies. The two are completely separate.
  14. I'd be shocked if DC ever ended.
  15. I have and the answer is 42. Btw, if you are seeing God you are most likely already dead. Part of the reason why I don't believe. The only concrete evidence comes after we have expired.
  16. if I get into a Ph.D program on my first go
  17. Aico, you really should make your sig smaller. It is much too big.

  18. Not anymore. 11th doctor destroyed an entire fleet of cyber men to attain his goal in a good man goes to war. For shinichi it is never a choice. And yeah he has lost companions but not of his own volition
  19. We are talking about the same Doctor whom destroyed the Daleks, Time Lords, and Cybermen... Right? And the guy who trapped the Cybermen and Daleks in "hell" at Canary's Wharf. The doctor makes necessary sacrifice too. The only person he is hell bent on saving are his companions. So... yeah... the two are nothing alike.
  20. Shh... It is alright Moho. Aico obviously didn't go to the least favorite thread yet and read all of the berating of the 10,11,13 and 14 movies. Especially from me. What I am saying is...
  21. You know, if you make a mistake you can click the "edit" button, and fix the post instead of posting again. Double posting is generally frowned upon here. It is the same thing with quoting multiple people, it is preferable that you use MultiQuote. Just giving you a heads up <3
  22. Welcome! I too thought I was physically and mentally matured at 13. And then I took an arrow to the knee became an adult. Oh how outlooks change. We are friendly here for the most part (except me, but I mean... I'm a mad scientist, what did you expect?) I try not to experiment on any one from DCW though. Enjoy your stay
  23. I have to agree with Moho here. First off... You are only a month older than I am, and I don't consider myself an "old member" by any means. And I am pretty active as well. Less than 1 year on the forums is not a long time... I consider myself one of the older active members of DCTP, and on there I have been on for FOUR years. Truth be told, unless you were here from 2009/2010, you aren't an "old member." At least I don't think so.
  24. I would end it already.

    Conan x Ai

I know I said I wouldn't post anymore, but I'd like to mention that technically you were arguing about AiCon, I was arguing about your argument, which happened to be about AiCon... So I was only on topic by association ; Also, I'm done, so... yeah, I don't know what the point of aico's post was. It actually was more off topic than any of our posts, because we were basically arguing how people like Ai and Ayumi would show affection, and how that would mean for how they treat Conan/Shinichi.
