The next day, Conan asks Haibara for the antidote but she denies saying he could build resistance to it or it could kill him. A woman by the name of Haruna comes to Mouri's office with a music box asking to find the owner of this whom she only contacted by pager messages. She tells them the music box was given to her on Christmas day. Conan finds out that the missing notes in the music box are the notes "Mo De Ru". They find the house owner's place by contacting using his pager number. Once there they find out Shuugo was an old man who died on December 6 last year, 19 days before she received the box. Shuugo's wife who died three years before him was also named Haruna. The family ask her where he hid his stamp which is worth 200 million yen. Shuugo's family invites them to stay over. That night Ran and Haruna see and old man's shadow with a cane fly by. They find out one of the family members was hit on the head by an unknown culprit. Conan asks Haibara for the antidode, but she says that it still needs to be fully tested, and that he may be resistant to it.

Mouri is put to sleep and Conan solves the case. The family finds the stamps to pay off their debts. One of the family members named Shirgo is revealed to be the one who took over for the grandpa when texting to her and was the one who gave her the box. Shirgo and Haruna now maintain a very close relationship.

Ran, Sonoko, and Conan befriend a couple at a restaurant, but Ran finds the man's act suspicious. After visiting them at their home, Ran learns that the man's wife has an extremely expensive insurance and that he may be trying to wear her body out to kill her. After inspecting the newly built house for Sick building syndrome, Conan finds out that her husband did something to the car. They later catch him spraying poison into the ventilation system of the car. He reveals that his company pressured him along with his want for a car. Ran's deduction skills finally grow, as she solves a case on her own, with a little help from Conan!

Mouri, Ran, and Conan attend a car show and Mouri is hired to find out where the threatening message comes from. A man is later found in his car fumed poison but there is no enclosed area to poison him with.

Inspector Sango Yokomizo enters the scene. After investigating, Conan reveals that a cover was used to direct the fume into the car. He reveals who the culprit is. The culprit reveals that the victim scammed him out of his car, which he sent his company almost to bankruptcy to own.

Eri Kisaki meets up with another two lawyers, one male, and the other female. Both attended school with her in the past. Detective Mouri later gets drunk and falls asleep in the bedroom of the female lawyer's room. When they return to the room, she's dead, and the door is locked from the inside, making Detective Mouri the prime suspect. Eri and Kogoro's feelings for each other are once again on display. Eri is determined to prove that Kogoro is innocent, more determined than she would be for any other case. It is also their anniversary.

Eri pretends Mouri is the criminal only to fool who she believes to be the real culprit. She, Conan, and Inspector Misao Yamamura search for clue's to clear his name, and find a way to trick the true culprit into revealing that he's the criminal. Afterwards, Mouri tries to ask Eri to return home with him, since it has been a year after their divorce. Eri pretends not to hear and later at home, listens again to the recording of Mouri's plead for her return. Misao is once again shown to be a bumbling detective, however, he is able to lend a helping hand in solving the case! Kogoro asks for Eri to return home to him, admitting that he completely misses her. Eri however, pretends not to hear, and secretly records it and listens to the message over and over again when she gets to her office, smiling happily.

An accident many years ago which took place on a bus plays a big part in the present. When a man is killed on the bus, Conan learns of an event in the past involving the same exact passengers.

The daughter of the murderd man from many years ago plans to take revenge on all the passengers present during that time. The bus is on a crassh-course, and Conan intervenes to confront her about what she's doing. Is there anyway to stop the bus from crashing?

Mouri, Ran, and Conan are staying at a hotel where they meet the twins from the case of the cursed mask. Later, an actress comes and causes trouble. The next day, she is found hanged in her room.

Conan notices that this is not a suicide but a murder. He later proves that the culprit hang-glided to the hotel and went back by stowing in the trunk of a car. The culprit reveals that the actress caused his brother to spend much money and indirectly caused his death. He reveals he tried to ask the actress to say a few words on his brother's grave but she refused and he decided to kill her.
205	-	Metropolitan Police Detective Love Story 3 (Part 1)	August 28, 2000			V27 - F4~F7	Station board
A serial arsonist sets huge fires across the city and Takagi and Sato with the Detective Boys are out to solve it. It turns out this is also the day the case of Sato's father's death will be annulled, and the bank robber will be able to keep the money he stole from the bank. Sato sets out to solve both cases before the day ends, but Takagi has been attacked by the arsonist. Masayoshi Sato's first appearance. Sato's feelings for avenging her father's death are displayed. When Takagi says a line similar to the last thing Sato's father said to her on the day he was killed, she gets very scared. Takagi and Sato's budding romantic feelings for each other are once again on display. Sato lets Takagi use her treasured handcuffs, the ones her father used. After she learns that Takagi dissappears, Sato is also very determined to find him. Sato's past is explored. Her father was also a policeman, but he was killed by one of his own close friends. Sato is set out to find this person.

After Ai reveals the pattern of the arsonist attack, the Ayumi, Genta, and Mitsuhiko run into the arsonist who attempts to kill them. Takagi is revealed to be inside the warehouse the arsonist set fire to. He can't break the handcuffs due to them being a momentum from Sato's dead father. Conan manages to arrive in time and stop the arsonist, but does not realize Takagi is in the burning warehouse. Meanwhile, the clock strikes midnight and the suspected bank robber explains everything to Sato, saying how his father saved his life. Sato reveals that due to the typhoon in Italy, the anull date was moved forward by one day. Takagi seemingly dies but appears with his handcuffs attached to the window bars. He collapses in Sato's arms. Even though Takagi knew that he could have shot the handcuffs to escape from the trap that was set, he was still determined to never shoot them, and find another way out, knowing how much those handcuffs meant to Sato. A bewildered Sato sees Takagi, her feelings for him finally growing stronger when she learns that not only is he safe, but that he cared so much to not even touch the handcuffs. Due to this, Sato and Takagi go on a date! However, the date turns into another case, as Megure calls them both before they can even begin the date, to monitor an escaped convict. We finally learned what happened to Sato's father on the day he died.

Mouri is carried by Ran and accompanied by Conan one night picking him up from a bar. While walking they witness a fight in an apartment. The next day a murder occurs. One of the man who's heard arguing comes to Mouri for help to prove his innocence. The man has made good suggestions on where to find evidence which are in fact too good. Conan finds out the man is lying and is trying to trick Mouri into proving his false alibi.
208	-	The Entrance to the Maze: The Anger of the Colossus (1 Hour Special)	October 9, 2000			TV Original	Self-service ropeway
Mouri, Ran, and Conan are invited for a ceremony for a ropeway which is built through a giant Goddess Statue on the mountains by Doumouto Guze. They learn that the there is a rumour about a curse by the goddess' anger and Mouri was invited to disprove it. After riding through the ropeway on the opening day, Doumouto, who has disappeared from the ropeway cart, is later found dead on the goddess' hand. Inspector Sango Yokomizo enters the scene, and begins an investigation, believing that this may be an impossible crime.

The Detective boys excluding Ai, are traveling through a winding path on Mt Ryujin. There they witness a derailed car fall off the mountain. The man has died and through the evidence, Conan concludes another car rammed into that car. Conan decides to leave it to the police as they are trained for basic cases. Mitsuhiko finds a code from the car wreckage which he assumes has nothing to do with the incident because he presumed it was a normal accident. He hides it from Conan since he wants to solve it himself. Later at the cabin, he solves the code and takes Ayumi and Genta with him.
210	-	The Water Palace of Five Colors Legend (Part 1)	October 23, 2000			TV Original	Hanging scroll
Ran, Conan, and Kogoro are invited to a home where there is a body of water that surrounds it. The water is able to change colors via the time of day, and is surrounding a small temple where the headmaster prays everyday. They meet the various people in the home, but discover that the headmaster is found dead in the temple. Inspector Sango Yokomizo is on the scene, and through the help of Conan, believes that it was no a suicide, but a murder. How could the killer have found a way to sneak into the headmaster's temple, especially when the only entrance can be viewed by a window that was in the room that everyone was in at the time of the murder?
211	-	The Water Palace of Five Colors Legend (Part 2)	October 30, 2000			TV Original	Water wheel
After some investigating by Conan, Kogoro, and Yokomizo, Conan discovers enough clues to figure out who the murderer is, as well as how they reached the headmaster. Conan solves the case after discovering a small, risky, and very daring blind spot that can be used as an alternative route to the entrance of the temple.
212	-	Mushrooms, Bears, and the Detective Boys (Part 1)	November 6, 2000			V27 - F10 ~ V28 - F2	Hunter
Conan, Agasa, Haibara, and the Detective Boys all go to a forest that is used for looking for mushrooms. It is split in half. One half is used for mushroom hunting, while the other half is used for hunting animals. Both sides are divided by a large, but easily climbable fence. After not finding much luck, Genta discovers very big mushrooms on the hunting side, and through the help of a hole in the fence, goes through that side. The search is on for Genta! However, after Haibara hurts her leg, Mitsuhiko must care for her. A man is found dead in the woods, and a hunter targets Haibara and Mitsuhiko! This is the episode where we learn of Mitsuhiko's feelings for Haibara.
213	-	Mushrooms, Bears, and the Detective Boys (Part 2)	November 13, 2000			V27 - F10 ~ V28 - F2	Matsutake mushroom
Conan, Ayumi, and Agasa find Genta, and meet up with some bear hunters. The hunters are looking for a legendary bear that is said to be very dangerous. Conan discovers that a dead body was found, and finds out who the murderer was. However, when he discovers that the murderer does not mean to harm Mitsuhiko and Genta, he decides against having them to be revealed just yet. The legendary bear shows up, and the hunter who was the murderer tries to calm it down. It turns out that the hunter was saved by that bear many years before that, and had killed the man because the man had tried to call the bear out by killing its young baby. The hunter visits every year to not hunt the bear, but to make sure it is OK. He sadly turns himself in to the police. Mitsuhiko shows off good skills, taking care of Haibara's injured leg. However, he feels sad because he believes he will never be as good as Conan, who had taught him originally how to take care of injuries. Mitsuhiko's self-esteem improves tremendously when Haibara gives him a good confidence boost.
214	-	The Mysterious Retro Room Case	November 20, 2000			TV Original	Mace spray
Mouri, Ran, and Conan are attending a dolphin show when a murder occurs in the hotel. The hotel room where the murder occurred was specially designed to be retro one. The clue to the murder is an automatic television that when inserted with a coin, will play for an hour. Conan reveals how the culprit used that to fake their allibi.
215	-	The Bay of Revenge (Part 1)	November 27, 2000			TV Original	Tide
While driving to the home of a client, Kogoro's car breaks down. They stop by a house, where Conan, Ran, and Kogoro meet a lawyer, and his extended family of workers, secretaries, and friends. The laywer is getting threatening letters from a man with the initials "T.K." The next morning, the dog, Johan, is acting strangely. The lawyer leaves the house for a fishing trip, and Ran, Kogoro, and Conan walk the dog. It reacts wildly when it sees a suspicious person in a red hat, on a boat. Later that day, the lawyer's boat is found, halfway sinking, and his body is found deep in the ocean. A local inspector and detective arrive at the scene, and the man with the initials "T.K." is found out to be an old client of the lawyers, and becomes the number one suspect. However, when they go to his apartment, they find him dead, seemingly hanging himself in a suicide. However, the clues say otherwise. Could someone have killed both the lawyer and the client?
216	-	The Bay of Revenge (Part 2)	December 4, 2000			TV Original	Dog's name
Conan discovers that ten years before this, a man was killed in a "perfect crime," by the man who had killed himself, with the initials "T.K." Conan uses this clue, as well as other clues via help from an old boat rental owner, to deduce how the lawyer was killed. He then visits the old home where the man who was killed ten years before lived, and gets information from an old lady there, and discovers a dog house sign that says "Johann." From this, Conan deduces who the murderer of both men is, and knocks out Kogoro to solve the case, trying to get the murderer to admit themselves that they had done it.
217	-	Megure's Sealed Secret (Part 1)	December 11, 2000			V28 - F11 ~ V29 - F2	Accessories
A murderer who targets young girls and beats them with a hammer badly is currently on the hunt by the police. While he police begin to search for the criminal, the case angers Megure, and puts him on the breaking point. Conan and Kogoro, along with Ran and Sonoko, are on the scene with Megure, as is Kiyonaga Matsumoto. Megure is acting very strangely, and keeps thinking about a case from the past... Whenever the past serial killer case is mentioned, Megure immediately stiffens up, and becomes all business. Ran and Sonoko are shopping for a sweater for Makoto and discuss about their love lives and it is hinted that Ran likes Shinichi and she wants to tell him how she feels but is afraid of his answer(how he feels about her) it is then revealed to us that Conan was standing next to them hearing the entire conversation and becomes very embarrassed and red-faced(which is super cute!) And then runs off to look for Kogorou Brief pieces of Megure's past are hinted and shown.
218	-	Megure's Sealed Secret (Part 2)	December 18, 2000			V28 - F11 ~ V29 - F2	Thick-soled boots
Sonoko is now a target! Conan solves the case, but when they discover the attacker, they learn that he is in the mall, and Sonoko is his latest target. Conan and Megure hunt for him, but Conan goes to the wrong place. Megure catches the culprit before he could hurt Sonoko, and opens a very big wound on his head. Matsumoto reveals the truth about Megure's past. In the past a man was attacking girls with long skirts and a girl proposed to be bait but was badly injured along with Megure, leaving scars on both of them. The girl is revealed to be Megure's wife. Ran, Kogoro, and Conan all finally meet her when they visit Megure in the hospital. Midori Megure's first appearance. Megure saves Sonoko from the strange attacker, taking a baseball bat to the face, re-opening his scar. Megure explodes at the attacker. We learn that Midori and Juzo met each other when Midori played the role of someone who would look like someone the past serial killer would attack. After she gets attacked for real, Megure tries to save her, both of them being injured. They both fall in love with each other afterwards. The full story of Megure's past is finally revealed, as well as the reason why he always wears a hat, never wanting to take it off.
219	-	The Gathering of the Detectives! Shinichi Kudo vs. Kaitou Kid (2 Hour Special)	January 8, 2001			MKV4 - C3~C4 V30 - F4~F7	10 yen coin
Kaitou Kid stands on top of a building with his butler. He discusses the time he was almost caught by a famous Detective in the East, Shinichi Kudo. Afterwards Mouri has been invited to a detective meeting by an unknown assailant who sends him money. There are Six detectives there excluding Conan. They are in a house where a massacre happened years ago. One of the detectives are killed and they are stranded in the mansion as the bridge has been cut and the cars have been burned. It also appears that the unknown assailant is using the name Phantom Thief Kid. After solving the case, Mouri was revealed to be Kid in disguise and escapes before Conan could capture him. First appearance of Saguru Hakuba, Konosuke Jii, Keiko Momoi, and Toichi Kuroba. We see the infamous black star heist where Kudo and Kaito face off. A flashback is shown where Shinichi teams up with Megure to try and outsmart the Kid, which they almost do.
