Season 23 aired in 2018. This year, there were a total of 40 episodes: 18 for manga adaptation; 22 for anime-original. Remastered broadcast for 10 weeks. There were breaks totalling to 2 weeks.

Tomoyose Kimika, an old lady wanted to open a trick box called “Mokujin” left by her recently decreased husband. This box is made by mid-19th century tinkerer, Samizu Kichiemon. The old lady claimed that the world ‘s largest moonstone “Luna Memoria” is inside the box. As Okiya Subaru exit the house after overhearing Conan and Haibara’s conversation, he realised he is being photographed in secret. The group gathered in Suzuki Library to try and open the box while Kaito Kid try to get in by disguising as one of them in order to steal the jewel. The group have to find the instruction paper to open the box which is hidden among the ten thousand of books in the library. Conan sense Kaito Kid’s presence and wonder who he is disguising as. Conan continue to wonder who did Kaito Kid disguise himself into. Ran climb up a chair in order to reach a book she is interested in. As she is trying to reach it, Conan blushed as he could almost see her underwear. Haibara accuse him of being a huge pervert. Through the various clues Tomoyose Kimika san talk about, Conan is able to figure out where the instruction paper is at. A blackout suddenly occur and Kaito Kid seem to have open the box and steal its content. Tomoyose Kimika decided that Kaito Kid can have the moonstone while she value the exchange diary even more. Conan find the real Kaito Kid hiding in the restroom and figure out he didn’t open the box yet. Kaito Kid explained that he already stolen the moonstone once before and only came here to accept the challenge. As Kaito Kid is ready to leave, he realised the door is being blocked by Okiya Subaru who requested him to return the photograph he took. Kaito Kid cause a blackout once again, left his phone and disappear. Conan is speculating who Kid is disguised as but gets distracted watching Ran reaching for a book with a short skirt on. Wakasa Rumi is introduced. She will be acting as an assistant homeroom teacher for Conan’s class. Conan thought it is unusual to get assistant this late in the year. Wakasa Rumi sensei appeared to be clumsy and timid. Wakasa Sensei, Conan and the detective boys went to the old storage to get some lime. In there, they discovered a 10 year old skeleton in the basement. The skeleton is seen holding a strange string with Chinese characters on it. Wakasa sensei “accidentally” ripped off a schedule giving Conan a hint to solve the case. First appearance of Rumi Wakasa.

Thanks to Wakasa sensei’s clue, Conan realised the code is link to the schedule but he didn’t manage to solve the code entirely. The news of a skeleton and the code being discovered was all over the news online. After school, Wakasa sensei approach the detective boys once again to get the lime from the old storage. The detective boys discovered the storage room has been ransacked and it seem like the culprit is looking for something. Wakasa sensei give further hint and Conan finally figure out the code. He realised the code is connected to the robbery case 10 years ago. At night, Conan and the detective boys set a trap to lead the robbers into the basement. Inspector Shiratori appear to arrest them however one of the thief is still outside and attacked Shiratori. The robbers ordered the detective boys to go into the basement. Once they are in, Wakasa sensei pretended to fall and knock one of the robbers unconscious. She displayed amazing fighting skills, unlike her timid and clumsy self. She took out 3 men by herself and when Conan and the detective boys finally got out of the basement, she pretended to wildly swing her weapon and state that it was pure luck that the men got knocked out.

Kogoro, Ran and Conan travel to the Yamaguchi Prefecture as Kogoro received a letter from a mysterious person named Kurataya Komakichi who wanted to give him a family treasure. They meet Natsume Asuka, a news site reporter. When Kogoro told her that he is meeting Kurataya Komakichi, she inform the police and Kogoro got arrested. It turned out Kurataya Komakichi is the suspect in an armed robbery a year ago who has stolen millions of yen worth of Kiecho coins. After getting released, Asuka San explained the situation to Kogoro and he decided to take on the case. While investigating, Kogoro is almost shot by the culprit but Conan managed to save him.

After the shooting occurred, Kogoro informed the police for investigation. The police wanted to protect Kogoro but he escape instead. Asuka san get kidnapped by the culprit and left her phone behind. She ended up on a conveyor belt, sending her to a burning furnace, Conan managed to save her in time. Meanwhile Kogoro went to Shizuki Park in attempt to find Asuka san. The culprit try to shoot Kogoro through the bushes but the police manage to protect him. Conan and Kogoro figure out the culprit and solve the case.

Kogoro breaks his leg and is admitted to the hospital. Conan and the Detective Boys visit him after school where they meet Yoshio and Kogoro's hospital roommates. In the room's conversation, it is revealed that Yoshio was working at the bank at the time of a 100 million yen heist and the criminals is still at large. Conan confronts Yoshio and tells him he knows the bank criminals are forcing him to kill their apprehended partner and his daughter is held hostage. Conan grabs the gun which Yoshio is holding and knocks out the criminals with his soccer ball. The Detective Boys rush in to save Yoshio's daughter who is held on top of a building across from the hospital.

Kogoro, Ran and Conan arrived at Cucina Eigo Restaurant. Once they are inside, they find the restaurant’s setting similar to the mystery of Mary Celeste. It is a famous 19th century unsolved case happened on a ship. A crew of ten people disappeared into thin air and the ship was found adrift. All five guests are also missing from their seats. They found the chef Kichiishi Eigo collapsed on the floor, head wounded and the word “curse” pinned on the door using a knife. They then discovered five set of footprints and shoes leading to the lake. Police arrived and Kichiishi Eigo shared that there were five guests from a company called Onda Trading. As they are investigating, the chef Kichiishi Eigo suddenly disappear and seem to walk into the lake like the five other customers. Conan begin to investigate and solve the case.

Kogoro, Ran and Conan are watching horse racing at Mouri Detective Agency. Kogoro lost all of his bettings on the horse race and say it is his unlucky day. Conan notice one of his betting ticket, the Pirate’s Spirit from race 9 won and Kogoro win one million yen. He decided to celebrate by having sushi at Beika Irohazushi next door for dinner. At Beika Irohazushi, Wakita Kanenori, a cook with a wounded eye is introduced. He say he is a drifter and not the type of guy to settle down in one place. Conan recalled that Rum injured an eye in some accident and one of Rum’s eye is an artificial one. When Conan ask him about his eye, Wakita Kanenori say its a real mess and offered to show him his eye. Conan declined the offer. Wakita ask Kogoro about the cases he solved as he love mysteries since he was little. Three other patrons appeared in the store and ordered sushi. A woman called Hijirisawa Suzuyo appeared and claimed that her pouch is stolen. She managed to find her pouch in the restroom but her ticket that worth a million yen is missing. First appearance of Kanenori Wakita and Iroha Sushi Chef.

Wakita Kanenori and Conan begin to investigate on the case. Wakita Kanenori make a deduction on the culprit however it turn out to be wrong. Ran decide to confess to the lady about the ticket but it turn out the lady lose a different ticket and not the one Kogoro has. As everyone is leaving, Conan tranquilized Kogoro and solve the case. After the case, Wakita Kanenori request to be Kogoro’s apprentice. Kogoro agreed after he was given a discount on his sushi. Sadly, Kogoro turn in his ticket to the police. Wakita asks to become Kogoro's apprentice and Kogoro accepts.

At an apartment that Wakasa sensei is staying at, she overheard a couple arguing. Her neighbour Banno Teigo wanted to break up with his girlfriend however she demanded money from him. Meanwhile at school, Conan is rehearsing for a play. Conan recalled playing the same role of “Ikkyu-san” when he was in his third year of grade school. He received acting tips from his mother Yukiko and script adjustment from his father Yusaku. When Wakasa sensei try to change a bucket of black water, she fall down and as a result the tiger painting of a folding screen got damaged. Conan and the detective boys decide to go to Wakasa sensei’s house to repaint the painting. As they reached her apartment, they saw a yellow haired woman pressing the door bell of Banno’s apartment repeatedly before leaving. After they finished the painting, loud music was heard from the neighbour apartment. Genta went to complain, find the door unlocked and discover the couple collapsed on the floor. Banno san woke up however his girlfriend ended up dead. He say that a strange woman zapped him and she apparently wrote “I love you” in red on his right cheek. Conan smell make up on Genta’s hand and concluded the culprit is Banno Teigo.   A flashback of young Shinichi getting acting advice from Yukiko & Yusaku for a school play

Conan became suspicious of Wakasa after finding a receipt she purchase just that morning. Even though Conan knew the culprit is Banno Teigo, he still haven’t figure out the trick he used to write the words on his face. After realising he overthink things, Conan solved the trick the culprit used. However, Banno Teigo got angry and attempt to escape. Wakasa sensei protected the detective boys, pretend to fall down while tripping him and knock him out cold. Outside, the reporters took picture of Wakasa sensei, Ayumi, Genta and Mitsuhiko and reported the case online and in newspaper. Hyoue Kuroda and Wakita Kanenori are seen watching the news closely. Conan becomes suspicious of Wakasa. A picture of Wakasa, her name and her occupation end up on the news, with Kuroda and Wakita taking note of this event.

Mouri, Ran, and Conan are invited by the hostess of a car accident charity named Shou Beniko. While driving, they find a message from the Phantom of the Cursed Masks who tells them they should not go. Once there, they find other famous celebrities; a baseball player, a prophet, a rockstar, and a man who lost his wife in a Hit and Run incident. The mansion they will be staying at is a huge mansion divided by the east and west side; and the only room connecting the two sides is the mask room, which is locked at midnight due to Shobel's mask. They were created by a famous man who lost everything and became engrossed in his masks; once he created 200 of them, he was found dead in his room surrounded with bloody masks. People who have owned his mask have suffered tragic fates. Shou who now owns all 200 masks has a priest place a seal on the curse, but the room will locked at midnight to prevent them from wandering. During their stay, Shou was murdered in a locked room with masks surrounding her and a dagger in her throat. Conan later figures out the trick and reveals the culprit. The culprit reveals that his mother was blamed for a hit and run incident and murdered by Shou, who then took fame and profit from her charity.

At Cafe Poirot, Kogoro, Ran and Conan arrived to have breakfast. They noticed a new cake fridge that the staffs just purchased a month ago. The episode mentioned Tokyo Summit and IOT appliances which is related to Movie 22, Zero the Enforcer. They discovered the cake being made has all melted and it is up to Conan to solve the mystery!

Eri Kisaki meets up with another two lawyers, one male, and the other female. Both attended school with her in the past. Detective Mouri later gets drunk and falls asleep in the bedroom of the female lawyer's room. When they return to the room, she's dead, and the door is locked from the inside, making Detective Mouri the prime suspect.

Eri pretends Mouri is the criminal only to fool who she believes to be the real culprit. She, Conan, and Inspector Misao Yamamura search for clue's to clear his name, and find a way to trick the true culprit into revealing that he's the criminal. Afterwards, Mouri tries to ask Eri to return home with him, since it has been a year after their divorce. Eri pretends not to hear and later at home, listens again to the recording of Mouri's plead for her return.

A woman bumps into Kogorō and Conan on the street. They notice that she looks scared and has blood on her shoulder. She explains that her friend has been stabbed and they investigate her friend's apartment only to find the body missing and only the knife used for stabbing the victim lying on her floor. Suspecting the victim's boyfriend to be the murderer, they go to the his house and discover the victim's boyfriend poisoned. Beside him is a letter that reads: "I'm going to meet Mifuyu". Can Conan find the true culprit?

Conan, Ran and Kogoro is seen having a discussion on going for a love-mystery movie starring Okino Yoko. At that time Ran receives a message from Eri, saying that she has been kidnapped. The kidnappers managed to enter Eri's office and using a stun-gun they were able to capture Eri. The kidnappers took her to an abandoned building where they were setting things up for making an embarrassing video of Eri. She managed to escape from their clutches and hid inside the same building and tried to contact Ran. Using the information obtained from Eri, Conan and the others try to find Eri's location.

Eri managed to evade from her kidnappers and send a coded message to Ran. Conan figured out her location. Eri look through the window and saw them downstair. She shouted to them but the kidnapper discover her. Kogoro rushed to save Eri while Ran faced off with the remaining two men and knock them unconscious. Ran being to suspect Conan’s deduction skills but he managed to trick her by recording Shinichi’s voice beforehand. In the end, Eri, Kogoro, Ran and Conan went to see Okino Yoko chan movie. However Eri complained about the movie and ended up quarrelling with Kogoro. Ran becomes suspicious of Conan again. But Conan uses a prerecording of Shinichi's voice to convince her otherwise. Kogoro claims he is the only man allowed to see Eri's body after her kidnappers state they were going to tape a embarrassing video of her to post online. After Kogoro saves Eri from her abductors, the two of them go on a movie date, holding hands and smiling at each other. However, they ended up arguing in the end.

While eating at a restaurant Conan, Kogoro and Ran witnesses an argument between two Nichiuri Sports Reporters. Later, one of them is found dead near to a bridge. Inpector Megure, along with Takagi and Chiba investigates the case and finally Conan solves the case with the help of Sleeping Kogoro.

The police find Masao at Yoshikazu's house who buried the stolen jewels around the yard. The police are forced to excavate the yard, but they find no body. Conan is positive Yoshikazu killed Masao's sister just by the smirk he has on his face. The Detective Boys ask a witness who heard digging noises from Yoshikazu's yard on the day Masao's sister went missing to find the witness made a mistake and the noise was actually coming from the construction site next door. Conan calls the police and puts on a show telling his deduction. Conan points out the body is under a growing flower which sprouted from the victim received as a gift on the day she went missing.

While playing soccer in a nearby field, Genta throws the ball over the wall and it happens to fell into the neighbor's backyard. On the way to retrieve it, Genta witnesses a double murder and scream as the other Detective Boys call the police. Inspector Megure and Takagi arrive and rule that the double murder was in fact self-defense and that it is case closed but something doesn't seem right to Conan. What is it?

7 years ago at Haido City, young Yuri Miona witnessed two men wearing Masked Comet Byun masks robbed and killed a company employee. Kogoro, Ran and Conan arrived at Nishiokuho Station to stay at a guest house called Hatobue Lodge. Apparently Kogoro came for their wide variety of beers. At night, police arrived and informed the group that an unknown man was found drowned in the lake. Through the lodge’s staff, they discover him to be Kitamoto Shujiro. He was also known as Kyujiro, one of the comedy duo together with Minakitaya Otaro, the prince of beer. As the police being to suspect Minakitaya Otaro to be the culprit, he was found killed in a locked room. Beside him, there is a symbol of Masked Comet which seem to be a dying message.

Police arrived to investigate the death of Minakitaya Otaro. They discovered his fingerprint matches one of the culprit’s 7 years ago. As it traumatised her, Miona chan’s memory of the event was hazy. Conan realised Otaro came to the guesthouse monthly because he was watching to see if Miona chan will regain her memory from 7 years ago. Conan begin to investigate and discovered the trick used in the locked room. He realised the culprit was the other robber from 7 year ago. Conan explain the dying message, found the true culprit and Miona chan finally regain her memory. In the end, Miona chan is finally able to smile happily again.

Mouri Kogoro has been given the honor of opening the Tokyo Spirits vs Gamba Osaka game. He brought the Detective boys along with him. They were given a tour around the stadium and Ayumi wanted to give a drink to Hide san. However giving of food and drinks before a match are not allowed. Ayumi then give a sealed official sport drink to Hide san instead. Miyamoto Risa, the Tokyo Spirits Roupeiro then state that Hide san would have leftover drink for that night. Kogoro ended up drinking that bottle of drink and started having dieherrha. With the help of Jodie, Conan begin to investigate and manage to find the culprit. In the end, Conan helped the FBI to arrest all members of the totocalcio organisation within a day.   Jodie, Camel and James have a cameo appearance, helping out Conan in the end.

Kogoro, Ran and Conan went to a traditional ryokan to enjoy the day. They meet 3 college girls who came to take photograph. Conan notice the water mill isn’t working and the staff say that it has been converted into an ice house. After taking some photos, the three girls left for various reason. Ran and Conan was about to enjoy some shaved ice when they notice the river turning red. Akiba Yuko was found dead, floating in the river with red flowers on her. Conan reveal those flowers is a fern called Azolla Japonica that grows in lakes. From the victim’s phone, the police believed that she could have accidentally fallen when trying to take a photo. However Conan think that it is not an accident but murder. He begin to investigate and find the true culprit.

At the police headquarters, Kuroda is seen reading news about Haneda Koji and thinking about Wakasa Rumi. Inspector Shiratori arrived and told him that the Detective Boys, Conan and their grade school teacher, Wakasa Rumi are going to the newly opened campground. Kuroda seem shocked about this news. Inspector Shiratori advise Kuroda to take a break and go camping. He state that camping is not his style. At the campsite, Conan begin to suspect Wakasa Rumi as he found a receipt that shown she just bought 5 new plates and mugs that morning. This means that Wakasa sensei knew her neighbour would commit a murder and purposely damaged the screen so that she could use this as an excuse to invite the Detective Boys over to her apartment. (Ep 896-897) Conan also suspect Wakasa sensei found the skeleton in the basement beforehand as the rust on the trapdoor has been recently removed. (Ep 889-890) Conan and the others meet a group of university basketball team members. The atmosphere around them are tense and they got into a quarrel. Conan and Haibara realised Wakasa sensei tense up when they mentioned “lost of sight” “artificial eye”. Conan also notice Wakasa sensei grasped something from her back pocket. After the argument Urushibara Fumiaki, the basketball team’s defense went to his own tent and rest. At night, everyone gathered to eat curry. Urushibara Fumiaki didn’t come out and isn’t responding when all three members separately went to his tent. Inside his tent, they saw his shadow doing squats. After dinner, the group notice Urushibara’s tent was suddenly burning and helped extinguish the fire. Genta and Mitsuhiko think that the person in the tent next door could have seen something and the person is reveal to be Kuroda. Conan and Haibara realised Wakasa sensei’s right eye is blind. Police arrived to investigate the scene and think it was an accident. However Conan pointed out a few strange point and believe it was murder. Kuroda researches the news reports about Kohji Haneda and Rumi Wakasa, and decides to follow her to a camping site. When one camper mentions an artificial eye, Rumi tenses up and clutches something in her pocket, causing Haibara to feel the aura of the Organization from her. Rumi is shocked when she meets Kuroda. Conan realizes she is blind in her right eye.

Police begin to question the three suspects. Wakasa Sensei used a balancing acorn as a hint to help Conan solve the trick behind the murder. Conan manage to find the culprit but he grabbed Ayumi as a hostage. Ayumi fainted from the shock. Wakasa sensei begin to threaten the culprit and while he was distracted, Kuroda was able to arrest him. Since Wakasa sensei saved Ayumi, Haibara like her and doesn’t allow Conan to speak ill of her. Conan notice a shape from her back pocket and wonder what it is. After Rumi saves Ayumi, Haibara suddenly forbids Conan to speak ill of her.

Conan, Kogoro and Ran goes to a meeting where fans of Sherlock Holmes are there. There, they meet Heiji, who was hoping that Shinichi would be there. Things go bad when the host is put to sleep and put in a car which drives off a cliff, killing him. A member found out who did it, but she got killed when she was in another car that burst into flames. Heiji then got very suspicious of Conan's true identity as Shinichi, but when he tries to confront Conan, a blackout occurs and another member is injured by the killer, with a knife to the back. Who did this?

Conan and Heiji was able to solve the case, and fearing of his identity, Conan use Heiji instead of Kogoro to solve the case. The killer turned out to be the boyfriend of the second victim, and she was able to find out he did it because she decided to cheat off his Holmes test, but when she saw his test, it was blank, because he knew it would never be graded and he was busy preparing for the killing of the host. The killer did it because the third victim was the publisher of a Holmes book he didn't like, so he did this for Holmes. And after Heiji woke up, he reveals that he was spying on Conan the whole time during the deduction, so he now knows the truth about Conan, and he spills the beans. Heiji figures out that Conan is Shinichi.

Inspector Megure arrived at Mouri Detective Agency to request for Kogoro’s help. Three weeks ago, Reigan Yutaka, a famous Japanese Literature scholar was found stabbed to death in his home at Yotsubadai. The police caught the culprit, Maihama Ryuji. However with just two days remaining on his detention period, Maihama Ryuji admit that he committed a burglary in Sasago-cho, hence he has an alibi. Kogoro, Ran and Conan are having dinner at home when Detective Takagi called and informed them that Conan is a witness in a murder case. They went to the crime scene and learned that the victim is called Kitasono Seiho, a painter. Nishiyama Daiki, Kitasono Seiho’s apprentice had painted a painting of Conan and his friends at Lake Okuho that day, so the police contacted Conan to confirm the timing. The police begin to question the suspects. Detective Takagi and the Detective Boys went back to Lake Okuho to verify Nishiyama’s alibi. After checking the environment and questioning the passers by, the Detective Boys and Detective Takagi are able to confirm his alibi fell apart and are able to arrest him.

At a warehouse, the police confronted Takatori Iwao, a jewel store robber. He and his accomplice Utsumi Tokuro robbed Beika City jewelry store and stolen 300 million yen worth of jewels. After Conan tranquilized Kogoro and begin the deduction show, Takatori shoot the ceiling and boxes of crates fell. Conan collide with Takatori, losing his phone and detective badge and broke his watch. Takatori escape and kidnapped Conan. Conan escape from the moving car and enter Kitahinode Shopping Center, however the all stores are closed down and there is no public phone. Conan ended up getting capture by Takatori again. Takatori switch cars and drive to an abandoned factory. He ordered Conan to climb inside the chimney. As the police begin to investigate the jewel store’s supplier and delivery company, Yamaga Setsuo the jewelry store buyer escape as he was the one who leak the information to the robbers. Inside the chimney, Conan found the corpse of Utsumi and a bag of jewels. Takatori revealed that Utsumi betrayed and tried to kill him. Utsumi then slip and fell down the chimney, killing him. At the end, Takatori threw Conan out of the moving car and say farewell.

After getting thrown out of the car, Conan woke up and found himself at a road intersection. Conan was sent to Beika Central Hospital and inform the police about what happened. Conan escape from the hospital and begin looking for Takatori. He went to Shingetsu Bar and found Utsumi’s apartment. Inside, Conan discover the body of Yamaga Setsuo. He discover the culprit is planning to take a flight to Hong Kong at 4pm. Conan heard a sound from the balcony and went to check it out. Takatori managed to lock him outside of the balcony and left. Conan discover the emergency staircase and use it to escape and chase after Takatori. At the road to the airport, Conan managed to stop Takatori and the culprit using his soccer ball. He tranquilized Kogoro and solve the case.

Conan, Ran and Sonoko went to the park for stargazing. Looking through the binoculars, Sonoko spotted a hand among the flowerbeds. They arrived at Sasaki Studio however there is no corpse at the flowerbed. The director informed them that there is another flowerbed on the roof of Yoshimura building. They went to check but still unable to find the corpse. Sonoko realised they miss out searching for a spot and went back to Sasaki Studio. Conan also figure out the trick used and who the true culprit is. Conan and Ran rushed to save Sonoko who confronted with the culprit. This is the first case Sonoko solved on her own. Sonoko tries her best to solve the case since she's the main witness and it is the first time she gets interested in detectives. It is also the only case she solves by herself.

Ran and Conan go to the Kendo Tournament which Heiji is participating in to cheer him on. Heiji is going against Okita, who he is lost to before, so he plans to beat him this time and confess his feelings to Kazuha. Before the match, Ran and Conan go to the restroom, but the restroom inside was crowded, so they head to the restroom outside at the North Entrance. When Ran and Conan reach there a murder occurs. Heiji and Okita who were passing by to pratice before the match notice the murder as well. Heiji wants to beat Okita in a kendo tournament and confess his love for Kazuha afterwards. Okita flirts with Ran, making Conan jealous. Ran is reminded of Shinichi by Okita's look, flustering her. Momiji plans a suprise victory party for Heiji. Heiji is competing in this tournament

Heiji and Okita wanted to have a match before the tournament start, however Sato stopped them. Sato reassure Heiji that if he can solve the case before the match resume, they wouldn’t have to cancel the tournament. The police begin to check the three suspects’ belonging. Heiji figure out who the culprit is and solved the case. Ran rushed to bring Heiji and Okita back to the tournament however the match are already over. Their opponents won by default. Momiji decided to meet Heiji under better circumstances and leave. Heiji failed to confess his love once again. Takeshi Onimaru is introduced. Heiji tries to solve the case quickly in order to make it back in time for the match and to confess his love for Kazuha but he failed once again. Heiji is competing in this tournament

Kogoro is playing Mahjong when they called a Loan Company President to play with them. When they find him in his office, he has died from cyanide poisoning. The suspects are three of his employees. The poison was only found on the victim's thumb, money, and door handle, but no where else in the office. Conan solves the mystery, showing how cyanide was erased with Bleach. The culprit explains how it was for revenge for putting the person's loved one in such a great debt.

Miyamoto Yumi and Miike Naeko are driving around in their patrol car. Yumi wish for a big case to happen like those in drama. They meet the Detective Boys who are chasing after Genta as he got kidnapped by two men. The Detective Boys got into the patrol car and chase after them. Through the detective badge, Conan overheard the kidnappers saying they would clean up on diamonds and the group assumed they were jewel thieves. Conan figure out where the kidnappers are headed and rescue Genta. It turn out the kidnappers are part of an organisation that smuggle protected whitebait eels to overseas illegally.

Conan and Kogoro think that Ran is acting weird and overly excited lately and decided to follow her to figure out what she is up to. They followed her to Cafe Rice Flower and saw Sonoko and Sera meeting with her. Through their conversation, Kogoro and Conan realised the girls are planning to go to Kyoto on their break. Ran mentioned Okita and Conan get jealous and worry if she would meet him in Kyoto. Sonoko spotted Conan and Kogoro. Just then, the waitress screamed and Saraie Daiki, the cafe’s waiter is found murdered in the staffs’ changing room. Police arrived and begin to investigate. After questioning, Sera seem to have figure out the case.

Police continue to investigate. Sera figure out the trick used but have not figure out who the culprit is yet. Sera thought Conan haven’t figure out the case but he informed her that he already figure out the culprit and trick used. What he couldn’t figure out is why Ran say this trip is an unusual trip. Sera and Conan worked together to reveal the trick used and the culprit. At the end of the day, the girls informed the frustrated Conan that the trip is their high school school trip, which Conan totally forgotten. Conan really wanted to go to the school trip. Conan learns from Ran, Sonoko and Sera that their Teitan High School class is going on a field trip to Kyoto. He wants to go as Shinichi.

Conan, Ran and Kogoro were at the mountain when their car break down. A group of college lab research assistants and their professor offered to tow their car. Goto Shoji, the college professor were drunk and asleep in the car. The group stopped and went to a store to buy grocery. After reentering the car, they discovered the professor dead. The police arrived and think that the victim slide down his seat and his phone strap accidentally strangle him. However Conan tranquilized Kogoro and proved that it is murder.

The Detective Boys went to watch the filming of Kaimen Yaiba show and saw a suspicious man, Tatsumi Masaya. He together with the Detective Boys excluding Conan got kidnapped. The episode jumped to two hours prior, after the show ended, the Detective Boys walked down the street where they meet Nakama Toshie an old lady whose ten thousand yen bill flew away. As the bill flew away, it got stained by Genta’s dumplings. Genta, Mitsuhiko and Ayumi chase after the bill and they each found one. Conan and Haibara realised they are counterfeit bills as they all have the same serial numbers. The Detective Boys decide to stake out near the park while Conan informed the police. The old lady’s bill ended up inside a vending machine and Bella Hikifune, a Mafia picked it up. The Detective Boys followed after her but ended up getting capture. They woke up and find themselves inside a ship container with boxes of counterfeit bills. They reached the harbour and the Mafia proceed to sink them into the sea. Haibara ordered the Detective Boys to release the bills through the gaps of the container’s door so that the bills can float in the sea and the police can rescue them. Haibara keep the evidence which proved the Mafia guilty of her crime and she ended up getting arrested.

At a construction site, the Detective boys excluding Conan found a man dead. Kogoro got free hotel voucher and brought Conan along with him. Police arrived and Mitsuhiko informed Conan that the victim is a serial blackmailer called Unmo Sadakazu. As Conan is not around, the Detective Boys follow the police to check the suspects’ alibis. Conan finally make it back and solved the case.

Conan, Ran and Sonoko arrived at Terauchi Tangerine Farm to pick tangerines. After harvesting the tangerines, they used an agricultural monorail to transport them down the mountain. After meal when Terauchi Tetsuji, the field manager and owner of the farm wanted to show the trio more photo album, they discovered he had a frozen shoulder. After viewing the sunset, Terauchi Tetsuji went up the mountain on the monorail to fetch them. He waved to them and then fell off from the monorail. Police arrived and determined it was an accident. Conan tranquilized Sonoko and proved that it was murder.

As Conan and the Detective Boys are leaving a soccer game, Conan asks Haibara to give him some APTX 4869 antidote so he can go on the school trip but she refuses because of how many times she's had to bail him out before when he's run into trouble. While on the train, the train makes a sudden stop making Haibara lose her phone strap and Genta drop his Detective Boys badge. Conan and the Detective Boys enlist Amuro to help them search for Haibara's strap. Mitsuhiko's phone accidentally started filming when the train stopped, and they are able to use the footage to see a father and son who had picked up the strap. Conan asks Haibara for the APTX antidote to go on the school trip but she denies his request.

Conan, the Detective Boys, and Amuro continue to search for the phone strap. It starts to rain in the parking lot of the restaurant they were in, and Genta puts up his hood which makes his Detective Boys badge drop out of the hood. After they find the father and son from the train, someone runs out and steals the strap from them. Conan and the Detective Boys track him down and find out that the man stole it because he hid an engagement ring in it. Conan realizes Haibara's strap had also fallen into Genta's hood with his badge and must be in the restaurant parking lot. They find it under a car and return it to Haibara. However the strap get run over by a car and got damaged. Conan drew the left eye back with a magic marker. Haibara get angry and still refused to give the antidote to Conan. Yuya Kazami is introduced.

After bowling, Ran, Sonoko, and Conan head to the bank to check in a cheque. While there, an armed bank robbing happens. After some struggle, one man is shot by the robber but survives. After being shot, another man struggles with the robber and ends up shooting and killing the robber. It all seems normal but Conan finds it strange. After figuring out the robber had an accomplice, Conan, using Sonoko, reveals the robber's accomplice. He reveals the two planned to use the money to pay off their debts and make some cash.
