At the moment, Ai doesn't have somebody that is 'obviously' there, so unless she ends up with Mitsuhiko (which I hope she does) I bet the only ending Gosho can give her is death. (I've killed Ai in a fanfic....) And Shinichi and Ran will end up together and be happy forever and ever. The end.

I totally agree with you! Ran and Shinichi aren't all 'I love you so much' and 'I'll never let you go' Twilight type cliche. They're just friends who really, really like each other. I probably always support childhood friend pairings because the guy I like is a friend I've had since 2nd grade. *blushes*

My theory is that Vermouth was caught in the fire that 'killed' Sharon Vineyard and took the APTX as an experiment because she was hurt too much to even hope for a chance at living. Miraculously, it worked, and they've been trying to replicate that again.

Can't answer for Chekhov, but I personally find nobody stands out enough to even have me consider them being the boss anymore.

As Shiho Miyano she wouldn't be able to be friends with the Detective Boys, and she very obviously cares for them. Examples needed? Every time she's with them, she tries to stay away when she senses danger because she doesn't want them getting hurt. And Ai is more like a child inside; she gets scared easily, she's dependent, and she hasn't experienced many things that normal people have. Not interested in kid things? Maybe she is an adult, but she is friends with the DB and nobody can deny that. She has fun with them, and it proves that she's a kid at heart. She's enjoying life RIGHT NOW. If the BO disappeared, she'd be perfectly happy. As I said before Shiho Miyano died. She's not coming back. Ever. Ai already let go of her. And why don't we add Heiji to the 'Who's better off with Shinichi?' list? I really wanna! (I'm in a huge HeiShin mood right now after seeing this drawing.)
