in her room to make Ayumi think she won't make it for an airing of a Kamen Yaiba episode. She lets her watch the episode live at her house but it is actually just a taped recording of a previous episode. The evidence that gave her trick away was the placement of the Kamen Yaiba cards in her apartment room.

To further keep Ayumi occupied as a witness, she woke her up in time to see Kamen Yaiba live. However, she promptly gave the sleepy child some sleeping pills instead of pain killers. After Ayumi fell asleep again, she picked her up, and drove her back to her office, and laid her down again.

'''Yoko Sawaki''' killed Nakamoto because 26 years ago he kidnapped and killed her older brother. Due to lack of evidence, the police was forced to released Nakamoto as the only witness was her who was only 6 years old at that time. She confessed to Conan that she wished there was a person like him in the police so that her brother wouldn't have died in vain. Yoko then turned herself in with Conan speculating that the reason she used Ayumi as a witness is because she wanted either Kogoro or Conan to find out the truth, which is what she wanted 26 years ago.</spoiler>

She woke Ayumi up in time to see the preview for next week's episode of Kamen Yaiba. There was no altering of time, since even Ayumi's family can vouch that she was back at 8:05 PM, and they left right after the previews. She let her watch the episode live at her house, but the preview at her office.

== Trivia ==
+
The evidence that gave her trick away was the deck of the Kamen Yaiba cards in her apartment room. Before she got her tooth pulled, Ayumi took an Ace of Hearts from the deck for good luck. After her tooth was pulled, she put the card back in the deck. She took the card from the deck at the clinic, and 'returned' it into the deck at Yoko's apartment. There should be an extra Ace of Hearts in that deck with Ayumi's fingerprints, proving that she was there.
* There's a stark contrast between this case's avenger's choice to not kill further after extracting revenge, and the previous case's avenger. In the episode directly before this, Takahashi kills Chikako to avenge Atsuko, and hails himself as a "messenger of justice", before Conan corrects him and reminds him that he was willing to kill an innocent Ran, not for Atsuko's sake, but to protect himself. In this episode, Conan intentionally puts himself in an extreme amount of danger by revealing that he hasn't told anyone about Yoko's trick, or that he went to her home either. He does this to see if she will do the same mistake as Takahashi, but instead Yoko doesn't touch Conan because he is innocent just like Ran was in the previous episode. This allows Conan to not report her to the police with a clear conscious, but since he didn't tell her, she turns herself in because she assumes that he was going to report her and nobody would believe him because he's just a kid, similar to her situation 26 years before this incident.
