Manga to anime changes
As the anime adapts 10 chapters into one episodes, major changes were made.
Added or modified scenes
- In manga, Onimaru hypnotized the prime minister and others in the National Diet Building. In anime, Onimaru only destorys the roof.
- The new anime introduces Gerozaemon and Snake man at the same time, while in manga Snake man only appeared after Gerozaemon got defeated. As the result, there are some anime original scenes with Sayaka, Snake man, and Gerozaemon.
- Musashi's house is destroyed by Yaiba during the fight against Gerozaemon instead of when Yaiba first using Raijin sword.
- After Snake man defeated, original scenes are made where the group discovered that Onimaru has taken over the National Diet building via news broadcast on Sayaka's phone, which followed by Musashi's decision that they will go to Ganryu island to learn about Kojiro's Monohoshizao sword.
- Mysterious machine spying the group at the end is also anime addition.
Omitted scenes
- Onimaru's journey to Mount Fuji
- Yaiba's waterfall training
- Musashi tricked Yaiba into using Raijin sword to catch fish
- Gerozaemon's underwater attack
- Yaiba tricked Gerozaemon by using his tongue as bridge
- Musashi and Yaiba visit to Tokyo and their brief encounter with Onimaru
- Sayaka's kidnapping by Gerozaemon
- Sayaka and others tried to keep a burning tree from falling, before asking Oni minions to help
- Yaiba defeating Gerozaemon
- Snake man brief retreat after his tail got cut by Yaiba
- "Senpuken" name debate
- The second fight against Snake man
