Biography

Okuwaki graduated from Chiyoda Gakuen Educational Corporation (学校法人千代田学園), and now a freelance animator. He mainly involves in the animation works done by TMS Entertainment. In his early years, he had worked in Oh! Production (オープロダクション) and Toei Animation (東映アニメーション). Moreover, when he served as the director of Kirarin Revolution (きらりん☆レボリューション) during the second year, he used his name in katakana "オクワキマサハル", nevertheless, he was still credited in kanji when doing stroyboard work. After 2000, he participated in the production of animation works mainly under his pen name Masaki Ozora.

Okuwaki's first involvement in Detective Conan was in 2004, when he still used his real name Masaharu Okuwaki to work on the movies. After that, he constantly served as the storyboard assistant for the movies until 2011. For the anime, in 2009, Okuwaki joined the production team, and served as organizer and storyboard artist, until present. (Note that he only used his pen name Masaki Ozora when working on the anime)

Incidentally, Masaharu Okuwaki is the disciple of the current Detective Conan director, Yasuichiro Yamamoto. In addition, the idea that Conan kicks off the table in Intrigue at Smile Village was thought up by him.[1]
