Situation
The Detective Boys inform that there have been rumours about flavour change in Ramen restaurant “Ogataken”, so they, Conan and Haibara come to the restaurant to verify this. Ogataken has been opened for 32 years by Masashi Ogata and now it is run by him and Kosaku Ogata, his son. In addition, this restaurant also has signatures from famous people who came here to eat and commented that it was delicious.
The Detective Boys give a taste of the Ramen and comment that the flavour is different while Conan notices that the shop owner never turns his face around, with the Detective Boys confirming that the owner and his son alway quarrel at each other, leading to the suspicion that the son did something to him and replace with another. Later, the suspicion is confirmed to be true as the one who looks like the shop owner is Kenji Ogata, Kosaku’s uncle, and Masashi has been missing for 4 days.
Even though Masashi leaves the restaurant quite often, this is the first time he has left without a clear reason while leaving only a note with the handwriting was indeed his but rather shaky. Later, the boys figure out that something must have happened with the owner, so they first ask Kosaku if someone had a grudge with his father but he couldn’t give an answer. They change the question to: Ever since Masashi has gone missing, has anyone been acting strangely when his brother temporarily replaced him, to which Kosaku recalls the Ramen Shop “Ichiban” Owner named Eiichi Banba, who also has been spreading ills about his shop.
Banba later comes for Ramen as usual, but this time is a bit different as the shop suddenly closes and the lights are out, then a bunch of rat sounds and a bloody Masashi lookalike appears to ask what has happened to the real one. He then admits to having seen Masashi being taken away by a group of people, with one of them being Tatsuya Kurosaki, Banba simply slipped and fell while being scared and tried to run away. Kenji mentions that Kurosaki was Masashi’s former student but was fired by the latter and had never come once again, probably he was misguided after that and now wants to get revenge on his former teacher, but is this true?
Everyone notices that they are being eavesdropped while they are discussing, so they open the door to check it out and see two people trying to run away in a car that looks identical to the one used to kidnap Masashi, according to Banba, so the pursuit of the kidnappers to save Masashi begins. While on the way, Kosaku regrets that it might have been because of him that his father will die, as his retirement from the musical has caused Kurosaki to be fired, to which Conan replies that if they have caught him away, he might be still alive whatsoever. When they arrive at where the car stops, Conan begins looking around the house while the two are walking to Kurosaki’s room and before he reveals the truth about Masashi’s disappearance.
