Show preview
Thank you for your contributions to Detective Conan Wiki. Regarding your edits to The Fist of Blue Sapphire, The Target is the Metropolitan Police Traffic Department and others, please use the Show preview button before you save your edit via the Save changes button; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the article will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving.
If you have any questions, contact me or any other administrator. Greetings and happy editing!--Mario-WL (talk) 01:31, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
Pictures
Thank you for the case character pictures. However, you should know that the picture must be in square format. you can follow the existing images in other pages or refer to Manual of Style for more information.--Jefflie (talk) 14:55, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- I have seen your recent uploads, and the pictures are not in ideal square format. Please refer to the pictures used in many other episodes. --Jefflie (talk) 03:38, 4 December 2022 (UTC)
- I'm sorry I tried to make it normal and can't make it look the format to be exact style.
- I'm sorry I just tried to find a better quality of the pictures to upload them without creating any problems.
- I need to know how to delete an upload file picture?
Characters needing a page
Please, can you help me to create some of them? You can translate them from conanwiki.org. Thank you.
Episode 518-519, Movie 19
Please, can you upload the images for the real-life people who appeared in flashback or background? Thank you. --Ushiwakamaru (talk) 16:10, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- Can you do it, after three months? --Ushiwakamaru (talk) 11:44, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
Better images
For some episodes it would better to upload new version of all images (cases, people, galleries) in remastered version. --Ushiwakamaru (talk) 11:44, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
One-shot characters
Hey JayHas! I know this might be frustrating, but the admins have come to a consensus that you are adding way too many background characters in the "people" section of pages. This is making the page longer and makes it harder to notice the important characters in a case. A simple rule of thumb is if they have a speaking role or have a notable role, like making the characters notice clue, then they have a place in the "people" section. If they only appear in the background or for a single shot, then they are not notable enough. Don't hesitate to reply if you have questions. --Nakamura talk 01:18, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- I need to know the characters that I won't forget who they speak and have credits. --JayHas (JayHas) 11:55, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
Manual of style
Hey JayHas! Please follow the conventions in articles and only capitalize the first word except if it is a proper noun (Title case) in "infobox crimes". The contents of the infoboxes are not titles of literary work and thus do not need capitalization for each word. Also, please use "amount stolen" instead of "amount", which is too vague. Thanks --Nakamura talk 03:17, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
- I’m sorry. I just didn’t like it that way with too many details and wanted to make it my way without any difficulties. --JayHas (JayHas) 11:46, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
- I understand your concern, but sometimes it's good to be specific! It makes information clearer for readers, which is what any wiki should strive for. This is different from "overly complex," which should be simplified. In any case, I (and most likely everyone else) appreciate the effort that you're putting in to a wiki like ours, but what matters now is directing that effort into the right places. --Avico (talk) 03:57, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
- I just really hated those cause of injury and other details so much that I really wanted to make the information better and specific without making it hard for the readers. -- JayHas (JayHas) 01:26, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hey JayHas! Sorry for not giving you a heads up before the block. This is a short term block so you can understand that not listening to other users and not trying to follow consensus to instead follow your own rules is not allowed here on this wiki. As we work in a collaborative project, we should be listening from advice from others and accept it. The way you have "simplified" details in Infoboxes "crime" and "people" make it sometimes illegible and grammatically overcomplicated. It's not necessary to always remove "of" and replace it with "'s". Hoping you can understand, --Nakamura talk 11:13, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- I understand about them being unnecessary. I'm sorry, but I really wanted to make it with Injury and Attack Type as that way instead without illegibility and over complications. -- JayHas (JayHas) 13:39, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Hello again! Nothing serious this time, but just want to something out. For Episode 1168, you changed "5th head of Kurashima Soy Sauce" to "Kurashima Soy Sauce 5th worker", similar to other edits that I have seen. Would you mind explaining why you like to remove "of" in these phrases? --Avico (talk) 00:20, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
A Suggestion
Hello JayHas! If you have a trouble following the Manual of style, then i would suggest you doing some of these before making your edits final:
- You could look at what you just wrote as another person other than you to see if they could understand what you are saying. Not everyone would understand what you are saying is inevitable, but the more they get to know you, the better they are able to understand your true being!
- Using an application that can help you with grammar/translating/both and more is advisable, especially if English is not your native language. Just make up your mind what you are going to say first before doing it.
- Discuss with other about what edits you are going to do and they might lend you a hand if you are having difficulties.
Hope you understand that the wiki itself needs to maintain its quality so that readers could have the experience at their best. Tuan (talk) 08:49, 14 December 2025 (UTC)
