wait, does that mean you haven't watched it until now?

lol how is that nostalgia then?

anywhooooo...

the movie has the reputation it has because it most certainly lives up to its name

it's incredibly deep (managing to intertwine numerous themes beautifully with each other)

the characters are very well-rounded and have thorough development

needless to say, it's undoubtedly up in my top 3 Studio Ghibli movies.

so I'd have to disagree with your opinion here.

it is amazing, and arguably one of Miyazaki's best works.

I'd go on a rant about Ponyo being more well-known when it shouldn't be, but that's not the purpose of this post.

hmm, I'm still trying to figure out what you didn't like about it.

perhaps it was too "gory" or grotesque?

Opinions are opinions, but I hope you'll take the time to watch this again in a few years in case you get a change in perspective.

I watched it when I was in preschool or something, so all it took were random scenes to spark the nostalgia. I've also learned that I shouldn't trust my preschool perception of things xD

I don't know, it simply didn't appeal to me. The environmental aspect of it was amazing and it's certainly thousands of times better than many films I've seen recently, but I guess I went in with too high of expectations. I was waiting to be "WOWW"ed, but it didn't come hmm maybe the toned down "epic" aspect was appropriate despite my preference
