It really helps fill in the gaps that I can't fill using the other language.

Saying something like "I want 辣椒 (làjiāo)" has a different connotation than the literal translation "I want pepper" since  辣椒 is really flexible in its meaning. Plus, my parents and I have a mutual understanding of Chinglish, so it's all good in this household.

Yeah, but that's just the kanji part. The way you say it is really different. To me, Spanish=Weird Japanese.

I'm a bit different though. We speak Mandarin for the most part, but use English to fill in the nouns. So it'd be something like "今天有一個 test".
