  1. while it could have been done to make Gosho's and his assistants lives easier, I find it a bit weird that Shuichi speaks as good of Japanese as he does in this case. Supposedly he went to the US rather than Japan for around 7 years. With his complete lack of knowledge of Masumi, I want to say that he probably didn't keep in touch with his family as well as he should have (with the exception of his mother to fund his college). Even if he did keep in contact, they could have just spoken English between themselves. It makes me think of the following two possibilities for why Shuichi could know Japanese as well as he does.... 1) The family spoke Japanese when at home, before actually moving to Japan. From what I have observed living in the US, there are many foreign families that will speak either exclusively in their native tongue at home, or some mix of their native tongue and common English words (usually nouns). Considering that all of the children have Japanese names, including Masumi who was born after Tsutomu disappeared, I wouldn't put it past Mary to have known Japanese already and possibly spoke to Tsutomu in Japanese in front of Shuichi while he was growing up. (((To me, Mary even looks like she could be half-Japanese herself, which explains her Japanese family name "Sera"))) 2) In the event that the above is wrong, its also possible that Shuichi took Japanese courses in college in the US under the idea that he would eventually reunite with his family in Japan after he discovered the truth about what happened to his father.
  2. By technicality, all are true. Akai gained American Citizenship. He has Japanese parentage, and is originally from Britain. When you gain American citizenship, you are American. So "British American of Japanese decent" would be accurate.
  3. sorry about that, when I made the page, I was thinking that there weren't enough rerun to justify giving them their own page. Actually about a year ago people were thinking that there weren't enough remasters to get a separate page, which is why they were mixed in to the Anime page, I think.
  4. I enjoy all of the franchise as well, but the reason those statements, "if it didn't happen in the manga, it's not real," "if that character wasn't in the manga, they don't really exist,", exist is because characters that only appear in Anime Only content can't actually effect the plot of the series. While some content does get transferred to the manga (and then back into the anime), it gets introduced again as if its the first time. In addition, some Anime Only cases characterize characters a bit differently than how the manga normally would. The problem with stating that Anime Only content, Movies, and OVA's a as canon is that some of them directly conflict with things later introduced in the manga.
  5. those are spoilers, also the spoilers for the current case are out if you are interested.
  6. Yup, Yup. scroll down the page a ways for "by episode number" http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Rerun_and_Remastered_Episodes_list
  7. Warning spoilers for content that has not been put in the anime (avoiding some details on purpose)
  8. *waits for people to notice that thing under papa akai's eye and say he's related to gin*

  10. Nothing in my post changes whether he was involved with them before or after. For what ever reason, the BO began to target him, making them enemies. We know that he didn't go back to his family and that they needed to flee from the place where they were staying before the message. He either knew he would die soon, didn't want to put his family in danger with his presence, or was unable to go back for some reason. As for the timing of Kuroda's coma, all we know is that he was supposedly unconscious for 10 years. As for when that started or ended, we don't know. If Kuroda was still himself and a real person, and was present at the Kouji event and lost his eye there and went into a coma, then he would have been awake from his coma for 7 years already. If that were true then the Nagano trio would probably have less information and the potential of memory returning (assuming its not permanent) would be rather high. If Kuroda was himself and lost his eye some other way, then for all we know, those lines about hair color and memory loss could serve some other purpose in the series. If Kuroda was a fake person and disguise for someone else then for all we know, the eye damage might not even be real, but just part of a mask. The memory loss would just be to make up for the lack of knowledge. In this case, the timing of the coma starting might not even matter unless Kuroda himself was a relevant person before his identity was stolen by someone else, should that person be Papa Akai or Rum. I wasn't saying that liking that idea was a bad thing, I just wasn't aware that people thought that.
  11. What are all of the current big fan theories? Both the more obvious ones to conclude and the ones that take a bit of reaching. the ones I can remember are: Asaka = Rum Mary = Asaka Wasaka Rumi = Asaka Kuroda = Rum Kuroda = Papa Akai Papa Akai = Rum
  12. according to the message he sent he "made enemies with some really horrible people", that statement doesn't actually contradict the idea that he was once one of them. For example Sherry was once one of them and now is essentially enemies with them and on the run. With the idea that he can't see his family, but also that his body was not found after all of these years, leads to the idea that he might be different than he was, for example ATPX causing him to shrink. OR, he could be pulling the same thing that Haibara was trying to pull all the time about being separate from the ones he loves in order for them to not be in danger, and / or trying to kill himself to keep them out of danger. That begs the question however of where he went (and that theory of him being Kuroda or something). As for being Rum, i really doubt it at this point. Are people liking the idea that Rum could be a spy and / or member that has left the org by making enemies with them??
  13. We don't know what the Akai dad knew. If he only encountered them in the US, and the family was known to live in the UK, then maybe he thought Japan was a safe place.
  14. but her original eye drawing would have been a much better comparison for Haibara, which is why is so weird
  15. except there is the one from the department store case's last page where her eyes look like they did from those other files even though Conan could not have seen her eyes during the time they were like that. This one wasn't fixed either. it was under the "reveal hidden contents" thing above so 899, 902, 903, and 941 for the weird eyes
  16. maintaining the three points (side note: none of these eye differences above were fixed for the volume versions)
  17. Isn't it because they aren't supposed to have agents operating freely in a foreign country? That's why they have to tell the Japanese police that they are just there on vacation. Also with it being unofficial, the US can always claim that they never sanctioned it and were unaware of the actions of their agents. Kind of the same idea behind the concept of NOC, like with Kir.
  18. As an update to this thread, PART 25 of the DVD series will start with episode 779. http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Talk:Season_25
  19. I posted this 2 weeks back on the Culture page's Talk Page and got no replies. http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Talk:Culture I was wondering what you all think? would it be better to have all cultural elements on the same page, or separate them into pages that just cover that one type of culture? I guess I'll wait a bit longer before I check back for replies
  20. When Childhood adventure was written in 2006, the main cast all had flip phones, so 10 years before that Gosho had Yusaku and Yukiko just a house phone Ran Girl / Shinichi Boy and This current flashback written in 2015 and 2016 respectively, most of the main cast have smart phones. So 13 years ago people had flip phones and 10 years ago they have smart phones for some reason... maybe even before that. I kind of want that "EPISODE ONE" special that is coming up to somehow have an appearance of Hermes from Futurama. https://youtu.be/UNTmUuFPHKc?t=10m21s (you only need to watch to 10m 34s)
  21. considering how the message from the dead father Akai is also displayed on a smart phone in Mary's background panel, I'd say they may have been out for a while. Unless she has it saved and transferred it from phone to phone, in which case SD memory cards for phones already existed as well. Yusaku and Yukiko both have flip phones in Ran GIRL / Shinichi BOY, so its an upgrade for them. Childhood Adventure happened in a weird sweet spot where neither of the Kudo parents seem to have cell phones due to the difference between when it was written and the current standings of the manga at that point, where most characters only had flip phones. Yusaku supposedly had unplugged the house phone land line, meaning the police had to call Eri's house and tell her to give Yusaku the "thank you" message. Its just I feel like Masumi is starting to have absolutely no originality to herself, almost everything that she is, has come from Shuichi. Not only that, if Shukichi is the one on the phone, then he solves half of her cases for her anyway (or at least tells her that she is wrong and possibly leads her the right direction). Now, even Masumi's catchphrase is something she took from him, even though he has existed since file 287 and has never been shown saying it before. I really want to like Masumi, but Gosho has made her so reliant on her family's characterization and actions. I kind of want Masumi to break away and become her own character, like how Shuichi and Shukichi both left home to do their own thing, with no regards to their mother cowering in fear that bad people are out to get her.
  22. welp this is a thing To make it even worse there is a page where Yusaku is sent a picture of the suspects and solves it instantly....
  23. There is a list on the wiki of changes that have been noticed. There are a lot more that haven't been listed http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/List_of_differences_between_magazine_and_volume a japanese user pointed out like 50 minor hair fixes for Amuro in volume 85 alone on their own blog, which aren't really worth mentioning on the wiki There are also changes like changing numbers in word bubbles, like "1" to kanji " 一 " and vice-versa I kind of wonder what the whole Shinigami thing is supposed to mean? Mary's line to Shuuichi feels kind of weird. He is like a child possessed by a Shinigami because he lied to her and is chasing (from her perspective) ghosts? Shuukichi's line might be more tied to the case maybe?? Like maybe we find out that the driver of the car that went of the cliff was already dead before hand, and that the driver was somehow "possessed" in order to drive it? I agree that he may have drawn Shuukichi really awkwardly as a last attempt to hide his identity, but the way 972 reveals him feels a bit underwhelming with how he just kind of wanders off after all of that build up and teasing over the last hundred or more chapters. I really hope he actually does something cool in this chapter like showing off his memory (and the best in japan quote thing). Maybe while Shuuichi and Mary were off fighting, he and Masumi saw something case related? Its too bad that the people picking on Shinichi were drawn in a way that indicates they aren't really suspects, but more of background people. Putting a fly in yakisoba in order to complain to the chef and get compensation would be an easy way to create an alibi of someone remembering you at a certain place and time. The time would be written on the check. (Gah the "K" button on my keyboard is starting to stick and not type, thats going to be annoying for a case with two people whose names are only a "K" apart)
  24. I was originally thinking that Gosho messed up the line Shuuichi was supposed to say in Conan's memory. The pose he is in for the memory panel is really similar to when he is asking Shuukichi who Masumi is, as he had not met her before this point. The only difference between the two panels is his mouth and that you can now see through his glasses. But however, his line from the memory panel is said while he was sitting up... Maybe Gosho will fix these through the volume version ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_Japan#School_grades Elementary School is 6 years, Middle School is 3 years, and High School is 3 years, totaling 12 years Japan just uses a number + the kanji for year system. 一年、二年、三年 for example, the first chapter of this series described Shin and Ran as 帝丹高校二年, or "Teitan High School Second year" a translator listed Shin as a junior though, which is arguably not wrong, since the second year is also the second-to-last-year as well (for me, Elementary school was 4 years, Middle school was 4 years, and High school was 4 years, totaling 12 years) (images removed due to limit of file uploading size)
  25. I think Shuukichi wandered off to go buy Yakisoba since that's one of the last things he mentions before Masumi gets up on top of the umbrella. However it made him miss a lot of the situation between Shinichi and his family. If he did wander off, maybe thats why Conan didn't have one of those "I recognize you from somewhere" moments when he met him in the present. Japanese high schools are only 3 years long. This flashback happens in the same year as his graduation, so I assume that this must be one of the vacation breaks of his final high school year. Meaning that he only has about half a year or less until his graduation. Its also possible that what ever the situation between Shuukichi and the Haneda family could have already happened, but he just didn't change his name until later. It still is a bit confusing how he didn't change his name until 7 years after Kouji was supposedly killed. If his connection to Kouji had already existed before Kouji's death, it makes me wonder if Daddy Akai was there to investigate because of Shuukichi's connection to Kouji.
