Akari Haga notices strange stains at the wall near Akito, her husband, when they, Conan, Haibara, and the Detective Boys are fixing up the traditional house, so he decides to check it out, only to see a skeleton of a female corpse, freaking out many. While the police are investigating, Conan notices that the corpse was wearing pajamas before she died, so later, he and his friends begin asking the family about the house but it doesn’t seem to work out that much since nothing much about the former owner is revealed.

The boys begin asking others about the former owner, and it seems that the police are one step ahead when they find the person before the boys do and take him for interrogation. After that, the Detective Boys visit the family again and enjoy the cake Akari treats them before waving goodbye to her and Akito, who happens to go back after buying material. Sometime later they meet Conan and Haibara, who have been suspecting something about the husband, and the two suggest going back to the house as Conan will explain the reason on the way.
