When the Detective Boys refer to him as "Gonta", the amnesiac remembers that his name is Taro Gonno. Although he was framed for the robbery by Shinya Torimaru, both men were guilty of robbing the house. After losing his job, Gonno had been hired by Masuzo Ujihara to rob Yoshi Koda. As she was an older woman living alone, the job was supposed to be easy. The idea of being a thief very much excited Gonno, but unbeknownst to him and Ujihara, their conversation was overheard by Torimaru. While ransacking the home for things of value, Gonno heard another person break in. After fleeing the crime scene without being noticed by the new intruder, Gonno twisted his ankle while running and had to stop.

Trivia

• Haibara, when naming the suspect, called Genta by his first name.
• The car is a 2005 Red Suzuki Swift [ZC]. The license plate number is 新宿 530, せ 29-40 (Shinjuku 530, Se 29-40).
